I eye the box of chocolates on my lap, trying not to put too many in my mouth at once. It's not fun if you choke, you know? As I'm carefully deciding which I should eat next, moaning at the burst of caramel in my mouth, he walks through the front door.

'Darling, are you in the living room?'

'Mhm..' I try to pay more attention. My fingers dance across the tops of the sweets.

'There you are.'

I feel his presence behind me before I turn to greet him. He's already shed his suit jacket and rolled his sleeves, looking down at me from behind the sofa. He raised an eyebrow. 'Is this why I didn't get one of your precious welcome-homes?' he says, leaning closer to my face. His eyes caught onto something near my lips, his thumb soon swiping in the same place.

Chocolate, I realise. I open my mouth to say something but they stop in my throat as I watch him raise his thumb to his own mouth, licking it clean.

His hand returns, ghosting down the stretch of my neck while his other hand reaches for the very chocolate I chose as my next victim.

'Open.' He says.

I do as I'm told, breathing heavily as he presses the chocolate firmly on my tongue. I'm hesitant in eating, he's watching so closely. I grip the box tighter.

His fingers press slightly into my throat, anticipating my swallow, humming when he feels my throat work.

Standing straight, he turns towards our bedroom.

'Bring the rest.'

I must not be the only one who had life tear away someone they lo-

I can't say it. Not here.

Yes, it was life that took a toll on us and it has been months and I still think of you. These are the words I can't say, we never said them. We still can't. Won't.

But they're there. While I'm drowning in the persistent waves of forever going forward, why do I insist that your words are to be the ones to breathe air into my heart?

When life - not death - is to blame for the ache, I can't accept that there is but one place left that you exist to me.

before.

I want my time with you.

Not the 'you' that you might be thinking

But the 'you' that I only know.

The 'you' that only exists here, with me

You, that finds small infinities in people and loves them.

You, that can't control the conflicts and panic and overly protective love

You, that has short breaths and long sentences and blinding silence all. at. once.

I want my time with you.

We have not had time alone recently.

I know it's hard, you'll be fine

You are loved and you love too hard.

Do not fall at their feet, darling

Wait for them to fall to you but don't stop walking while you wait.

You will never understand them out there that's why,

I want my time with you

So we can understand us before

The intruders demand attention

Once again.
