Arranged Marriage. Part 8

Is it true what your mother said about another family intervening in your wedding? How would Jongho react?

After hearing the news about other family intervening in your marriage with Jongho, you felt uneasy. It was hard to comprehend how some people just want to take anything they desire. “Of course, they want Choi’s status and shares in their company,” you thought. “And this girl… Does she even love Jongho? Does she even know him personally? Does she even want to marry or do her parents force her just like mine did?”

You decided that it was enough worrying for today because you just emotionally couldn’t take more now. So you went for a short walk to the nearest park. You were a little surprised to see Jongho there sitting on the bench. He looked like he was deep in his thoughts. He didn’t even notice when you approached him.

“Hi again,” you said with a tiny smile.

“Y/n? Oh why are you here?” he sounded surprised. “I mean… I didn’t expect to meet you here.”

“Well… I didn’t expect I would be taking a walk either,” you became nervous suddenly “Have you talked to your parents yet?”

Jongho narrowed his eyebrows “No… Why?”

“I’ve just talked to my mother. She told me some unexpected news about our wedding.”

“Y/n, you look nervous. What is it? Is it something bad?”

“Well… in a way,” you said in a tiny voice looking at your shoes.

“Y/n, please tell me what is it?”

“Well…” you inhaled “There is a family whom I know, who you know. They want to end our wedding. I mean they want to intervene and stop everything. Their daughter wants to marry you. Actually, maybe she doesn’t… I don’t know. Maybe her parents want her to marry you.” you blurred out at a fast speed.

“What? I didn’t understand anything. Who wants to marry me?”

“Lee’s family, they want you to cancel our wedding and instead marry their daughter.”

“Really? Y/n, you aren’t joking right now?”

“I wish I was.”

“God… Why can’t we just live calmly” Jongho said in a desperate voice.

It was probably the first time Jongho showed so much emotion, seeing him being so sick of the situation you both were in.

“So” you started quietly “What are you going to do?”

“What do you mean?” his eyes looked on the floor.

“Are you going to cancel our wedding?” you said even more quietly.

“Huh? What are you talking about? Why and also how would I do it?” he said almost sarcastically.

“Well… My mother said that now when you have two candidates to marry you, you can choose yourself who to marry.” You started biting your lips waiting for his reply.

“Is that so? Is there an option not to marry anyone?” he sounded desperate again.

“Don’t think so”

“Well… Then what choice are we talking about? You think I’m going to marry the girl I’ve never even spoken to?”

You fell silent.

“Y/n, we gave each other a promise to go through this together. Remember? Or you forgot already?” he looked at you. You saw how tired and fed up he looked.

“Yes, of course, I remember.”

“So then we have to keep our promise. What? You thought you could free yourself from the marriage and leave me with a stranger?” he said jokingly.

“Huh? I haven’t even thought about it. Stop it, I wouldn’t leave you alone in this sh*t”

“Hahaha… It’s the first time I’ve heard you swearing” he smiled “But yeah… We should stick together. We are stronger together.”

“True”

“By the way, Y/n” Jongho unzipped his bag and gave you your scarf back. “Thank you, I was warm walking home yesterday” he smiled.

You felt your cheeks blushing a little. “Good” you smiled a little.

“Should we go home? It’s getting dark.”

“Sure and I’m getting hungry too.”

“Oh…Why didn’t you tell me? Can’t leave you hungry. Let’s buy you some food” Jongho said with new enthusiasm.

“No need.

“Let me treat you”

“I’ll eat at home” you insisted.

“It’s for giving me your scarf yesterday” he himself didn’t know why he was so pushy.

“Okay, if you insist.” He smiled and you went to your favourite bar.

※※※

You were at home, doing your skincare routine before going to sleep. You were still thinking about Jongho’s words “We gave each other a promise to go through this together. We should stick together. We are stronger together.”

You suddenly felt a warm feeling forming in your heart. You couldn’t exactly understand what it is. It was probably because you were grateful to have such an amazing friend. He would always support you and trust you no matter what the situation is, he always believes you. In scary and dangerous situations he always protected you and was there for you when you cried from being scared of something. You smiled thinking about it remembering the situation when you were scared of a spider and asked Jongho to get rid of it even though you knew he was scared as hell as well but did it for you anyway.

The warmth in your heart started spreading more.

“He did so much for me. But what did I do for him? Landed him my scarf? Sat with him is silence?” started getting sad.

“I need to be a better friend,” you thought.

※※※

The next day after your classes you went to the bakery (you continued to work there starting to like it) to say you couldn’t do your shift tomorrow. Your mother made an appointment for you to try make-up and hair for the wedding and didn’t even bother asking you if the time was suitable.

You were lucky to have an understanding boss, so she quickly found someone who could substitute for you. With a positive mood, you opened your shift and started preparing ingredients for your special cupcakes. They were so delicious that you already had some people waiting in line in order to buy them. You were proud of yourself. Working at the bakery was so peaceful and routine work made you forget about all the problems in the world. It was like a meditation sometimes.

Today, however, you had an unusual client. She was dressed in designer clothes, wearing glasses and a hat so you couldn’t even see her face properly. She looked at you and then at the interior of the bakery. A minute passed when she decided to come to the counter and make an order.

“Hello, can I order a special cupcake?”

“Sure” you smiled “anything with it?”

“No”

“Okay.” You wrapped the cupcake and gave it to her. “Here you are. That will be 5 …”

“I know. I saw the price, I’m not blind”

You were startled, your mouth hung open.

She took a bite. “Don’t you think it’s too much for a cupcake like this? What is special about it? You should rename it to a boring cupcake.”

You were so shocked you couldn’t even say anything.

“Well…Didn’t expect much from you anyway, Y/n Y/Ln.” and then she left.

“How did she know my name?” you thought. Her voice sounded a little familiar though but you couldn’t see her face.

You spend the rest of your shift thinking about this girl. How does she know who you are and why did she come here? To look at you? To look at the place you worked at? You were confused.

What are stans of different Ateez members like? A tarot reading ✨

Hello peeps and atinys; I had this idea cross my mind one day, hmm I wonder what fans of a specific idol would be like. Would they take after the idol or be completely different?

I thought it would be a very interesting social experiment to do so I chose Ateez!

I asked three questions per member:

1. What are stans of (member) like in general?

2. What do stans of (member) have in common with each other?

3. What about (member)'s personally attracts his stans to stan him?

From what I've seen, i think they have a chance to at least a little bit accurate 😂 You guys will be the judges! Let me know who you stan and if it is accurate for you or not! It is an experiment after all, let's discuss and get to know each other better! 🖤

Disclaimer: This is for fun purposes only and should be treated as such. Tarot can absolutely be wrong.

Hongjoong stans: The rebels

How are Hongjoong stans like (in general) // the high priestess, the emperor R, VI of wands

Hongjoong stans are people who want to carry themselves in the world with pride. They want to showcase/ achieve confidence in who they are and also inspire others to do the same. Their power comes from within, from their self knowledge, from the fact that they know that things in the world cannot stop them from being themselves and living their own truth. They want to be the complete leaders of their own lives and not be afraid to speak up or stand out in a crowd.

What do Hongjoong stans have in common? // II of wands R

Hongjoong stans want to carve out their own path in life. They don't want to follow the norms or give in to what others want out of them when it comes to their life path.

What about Hongjoong's personality attracts Hongjoong stans? // Wheel of fortune, page of wands

Hongjoong stans love how he appears to be so fearless, so unafraid of failure, setbacks, opposition or hardship. One could say Hongjoong 'makes his own luck' with the way he shapes his reality to make the best out of it no matter what happens. All cycles in life can be reformed, rules can be rewritten, perspectives can be changed. Hongjoong strives to reform all those cycles and make this world a better place, and Hongjoong stans are highly thankful of that and want to follow in his lead and do the same.

Hongjoong stans might have prominent fire placements (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) in their natal chart.

On the next day, you met with Jongho at your favourite cafe. He told you that he quit his job and ended the relationship. He felt relief and a little sadness at the same time. He really wanted some feeling of stability in his life with work and relationships. Now he doesn’t have it anymore.

You were listening to him carefully as he was looking you in the eyes telling everything. You noticed that his eyes looked very tired and it seemed like he didn’t sleep last night. You wanted to help him. You wanted to bring him the feeling of happiness right now. All you could do, however, was listen and nod. You really wanted to say something cheerful but you couldn’t find the right words. Every phrase and sentence you had in your head seemed pointless. So you just kept looking at him.

“But you know,” Jongho said. “I’m really glad that I have you. You’re always listening to my problems when I speak” he smiled. You felt a warm feeling in your heart and looked him in the eyes. You wanted to say something but were interrupted by the waiter. “Is everything good? How do you like your meal?”. “Everything is fine, thank you!” Jongho said with a smile. The waiter went away then.

“Y/n, did you want to say something?” he asked. “Um…well. I just wanted to say that this is what friends do. You do the same for me.” you smiled a little and looked down. “You don’t need to thank me for this, really”.

It was already evening when you left the place. The sky was dark and cloudy. It looked like it was a night already. Jongho insisted on walking you home. Even when you said that the road will take just 10 minutes, he wasn’t listening. He took your hand in his and started walking slowly. You pouted but decided to not argue with him.

On your road, you saw lots of drunk people and you remembered that it was Saturday. Being afraid of them, you were glad Jongho was with you. You felt that his hand was getting colder. You looked at him and saw that he was shivering a little.

“Here, take my scarf” you offered him. “Huh? It’s okay. I’m not cold.” he smiled. “Just take it” you looked him straight in the eyes. “Okay,” he said, “thanks. But what about you?”. You put your other hand on top of his and he could feel how warm it was. “So warm. It feels nice,” he said. You suddenly felt a little blush on your cheeks. “Just put on the scarf,” you said and he finally did.

You were already in front of your house. You noticed the light in your living room window. Again, you had the feeling that you don’t want to go inside. So you tried to prolong your time with Jongho by asking him plenty of questions.

-           So, how are you going home?

-           Y/n, I live nearby and you know it. I’ll walk on foot.

-           But it’s cold. Maybe you should take a taxi. Should I order it for you? We can wait here till it arrives.

-           You don’t need to worry about it, Y/n. I’m not that weak. Do you really think I’m afraid of cold?

-           No, but… At least take my scarf with you.

-           Will that make you feel calmer?

-           Yes.

-           Okay. He said and smiled. I really have to go now.

-           Oh…sure. It was nice spending time with you.

-           You too.

He hugged you and you said your goodbyes again. He also made sure you entered your front door and are now at home. Then he started walking to his house. Your scarf helped him to get warmer.

Jongho entered his house and was greeted by his mother’s stern stare.

-           Hello, mother!

-           Hello, son. Why are you coming home so late? Also, is it a woman’s scarf?

-           Oh, I was on a date with Y/n. It’s her scarf by the way.

-           Date? Oh…okay then.

And like that Mrs Choi walked away. Jongho was looking at the place she was standing confused but decided not to think too much about it.

He went to his room, took a shower, and went to sleep. He tried to sleep at least. Like the previous night, he was still thinking about what to do now. Should he look for another job? Should he just relax? He actually wanted to have a job. He wanted to be able to achieve different milestones in the future by having a nice career. He understood that he needed to start now though. Moreover, according to his plan, he will be the one who provides for his future “wife”. That is the least he could do for you, he thought. Your scarf was hanging on his chair. He was looking at it and thinking about what else he could do for your to make this situation feel easier for you. However, he felt his eyelids become heavier. He couldn’t think about his future anymore. Only the image of you wearing the scarf was in his head now. Like that he fell asleep.

                                                        ※※※

You woke up and actually felt productive. It was the beginning of the next semester. You wanted to finally go to the uni and spend half of the day there, far from your house. At the same time, however, you didn’t really want to do all your assignments and projects. Also, you were glad that you wouldn’t be going alone.

Jongho and you met in front of the door of the classroom where will be your first class. He greeted you with a smile and a hug. You entered the huge classroom and sat at your favourite place. The professor started a very boring lecture and you felt like you were going to fall asleep. You almost closed your eyes when Jongho tapped your arm. You opened your sleepy eyes and looked at him. He smiled and said “Wait a little bit. When class ends you can take a nap on my shoulder.” You sighed and nodded.

After your classes ended you realized that you have three assignments you need to complete by the end of the week. You already were incredibly tired from sitting and just listening to whole boring information you will probably never need in your life.

“So, Y/n, should we meet on Wednesday after classes? We have only two that day.” Jongho suggested. In the previous semester, you agreed to always help each other with studies and meet if the assignment was too hard to complete alone. “Sure!” you said. “Now, however, I need to go. My mother wanted to discuss something with me.” You said your goodbyes to each other and went away. Jongho realized he forgot to give you your scarf back.

                                                         ※※※

You entered the house and were greeted by your mother’s calm stare. “Strange,” you thought, “she probably has planned something for me.”

“Y/n, please, can you sit on the sofa?” You did what she asked.

“Y/n, I needed to tell you this as soon as I got to know myself. There is one family. You know them. They want to intervene in your wedding. They are a huge family with very high status. And they have a daughter your age. They thought Jongho would be…” You were so shocked to hear this, you couldn’t proceed to listen anymore. This was just so unexpected that you didn’t know how to react. You were just looking at your mother with wide eyes.

“… So, Y/n, that’s why you should be careful, dear. They are really powerful and can actually do harmful things.”

“Are they mafia?” you asked.

“Who knows... Just…Please be careful while walking on the streets. I really don’t want anything bad to happen to you.” Your mother’s voice was very worried which meant it was really serious.

“We have one good news, however.”

“Huh? What is it?”

“When situations like this happen. I mean when there is more than one contender for marriage, the other side decides whom to choose.”

“How is it good news? Of course, Choi's family will choose the ones with more power and money…” you said in a tiny voice.

“No, darling. We have a rule here, in our community. The other side will decide for himself. The other side means not a family, not parents. It means fiancé.”

You just stared at your mother with more confusion and shock. Why were you in this situation? Why you? On the other hand, you could feel hope inside after hearing bad news. Now it seemed like you would have to marry to save your best friend from this ferocious family.

Arranged Marriage. Part 6.

Choi Jongho x Fem.reader

Word count: 1005

Hi! I’m finally back. So enjoy reading this short story.

Also English is not my first language.

That day you went home thinking about the dress and the wedding. You thought you were still too young to marry someone. How are supposed to actually do it? How are you supposed to be okay with it? How are you supposed to still be silent and don’t say anything to your parents? What is Jongho feeling? Is he okay with it? Is he not? What is he going to do with his girlfriend? Break up? Continue dating? Will it be considered cheating?

Like this, you were drowning in your thoughts that rapidly started to cause anxiety.

“Why did my parents give birth to such an overthinker???” – you screamed in your head.

When you were seeing your house not far ahead, you really didn’t want to go in. You were standing in the middle of the pedestrian road staring at your house. You saw a lady passing you and looking at your face intently.

“Is everything fine? You look pale.” – you heard. “What?” – you said. “Do you live nearby? Should I walk you to your house?” – the lady asked. “No, it’s fine. Thank you!” – you said with a small smile and started walking to your house. The lady was looking at you until you entered your front door and only then went away.

As you entered the front door, you noticed that both of your parents weren’t at home. You sighed in relief and went to the kitchen to drink water. While you were pouring the water your phone buzzed. You look at it and noticed a message from Jongho. It said, “I need to tell you something. Can I call you?”. “Like I haven’t had too much anxiety for today,” you thought.

You decided to call yourself instead.

-           Hi, Jongho, is everything okay?

-           Hi! Well… I don’t know… I didn’t really have time to proceed it in my head.

-           Oh no… Is it bad?

-           Please, just listen to me. I’ll tell you everything.

-           Okay.

-           So, you know my manager at work?

-           Yes, you told me about him.

-           Good…So, Y/n, he is in love with Yun.

-           What?

-           Yeah, and I thought it was fine. Yesterday we actually talked about it and he said he noticed us. Noticed that we flirt with each other. But he didn’t do anything, he just said he is in love with her and that she liked me. But he was disappointed when he found out Yun and I are not really dating. And today… Today he was staring at us. Like, Y/n, usually he is in his office. Today he wasn’t.

-           Did he say anything to you?

-           He didn’t at first. He was staring at us and Yun also noticed it. She said she’ll talk to him. She also said that he gets very jealous when he sees her with someone. So I asked her why is he like that when you are not even dating. And she said that he is just in love with her and that if I really were in love with her, I would behave the same way. Y/n, like isn’t this situation just crazy? He looked at me like he was going to kill me with his stare. This was really strange and awkward. So I’m thinking of ending my relationship with Yun and stop working there. I really thought that manager-hyeong is a normal guy but he just behaves like I stole his girlfriend from him and…

-           Wait…what? She just told you, you would behave the same? So she actually thinks it’s normal behavior?

-           Yeees, Y/n… That’s why this situation is crazy. I need to get away from that place and people like now. So tomorrow I’m going to tell Yun that we need to stop everything and that I’m quitting this job. It’s not worth it at all.

-           Right. I agree. We already have our parents, don’t need more toxic people in our lives.

-           True. Y/n, thanks for listening to me. I was so overwhelmed by this, but now I feel a little bit better.

-           Good. – you smiled.

-           So…How was your day? I hope nothing bad happened?

-           It wasn’t bad. Both mothers and I went to look for a wedding dress and I tried a couple of them. One dress actually suited me and my mother bought it for me. She was even crying when she saw me in it. So…after that, I went to work and now I’m back home.

-           Oh…So…Your mother like the dress…And…What about you?

-           What?

-           Ehm…Do you like the dress?

-           Well…kind of…it looks good on me.

-           Good.

-           Good?

-           I mean…you didn’t feel disgusted trying it?

-           What? No. It’s just a dress anyway.

-           Right. So…Y/n, you are still okay with our plan?

-           Ah…yes. It doesn’t look like I have another option. So…yes, it's the lesser of the evils.

-           Sorry…

-           Again? You should stop apologizing. If anything, I should say it. You will be stuck with me and you know how bad it can be.

-           Lol…It can’t be worse than this situation with Yun.

-           Well…Here you are right. – you both laughed.

-           Y/n, I need to go, sorry. Thanks for listening to me. It was nice hearing your voice too.

-           Sure. Always here when you need to talk.

-           Same. Okay, bye!

-           Bye!

You looked at your glass which was still full of water and smiled a little. You felt better after talking with your friend. You felt like even though you didn’t tell him much, he made you feel better by listening to you and actually caring about you. You noticed little tears on your checks and were surprised you started crying. You quickly went to your room and went to your window. You looked at the trees outside and somehow felt relief. “If Jongho is by my side, I can do everything. I will overcome everything” – you thought and felt more tears coming.

At least, those were the words your grandmother always told you. Objectively, your grandmother didn’t know much about War, but she did know about Love.

That night you couldn’t fall asleep. You tried to distract yourself by playing games on your phone when you suddenly received a message.

Jongho:

-           How are you feeling?

You:

-           Not good. You?

Jongho:

-           Same. I actually felt okay till I heard the news from my parents about our new place for the wedding.

You:

-           Yeah. The more I think about it, the more real it feels. Like I knew it was inevitable but I kept hoping that it won’t happen. And now I just feel so powerless.

Jongho:

-           I’m sorry you feel that way. I feel the same to be honest. But we are together and like I said, I will have the power to make everything just how we both would like. Even if we will be living together, it won’t change anything.

You:

-           It’s not your fault. Don’t apologize. Thank you for your support but do you really think our relationship won’t change? Won’t our parents force us to have children?

Jongho:

-           Don’t think too deep. It’ll be okay. I won’t allow them to force us! Promise! ))

You smiled at his reply and it felt a little lighter in your heart.

You:

-           Thank you, Jongho! )) It actually means a lot!

You were waiting for a reply but haven’t received any. You assumed that Jongho fell asleep and you felt your eyelids become heavier and you fell asleep too.

 *           *          *

On the next day, Jongho went to his job feeling a little down, it was until he saw his girlfriend if you can say so… he actually didn’t know himself how serious their relationship was. He approached her with a smile.

-           Hi, Yun! – he said with a sweet voice.

-           Oh, Jongho. Hi! – she said with a smile.

-           Did you eat?

-           Yes, I’m good, you?

-           Yes, thanks!

-           Jongho! – his manager called.

-           Oh, sorry, I have to go.

-           Okay, see you later.

They both smiled at each other and he went to the manager’s office.

-           Jongho, I’ve noticed that you and Yun have been close to each other lately. Is there something going on between you two?

-           Ah… - Jongho was caught off guard by a sudden question. – I think yes. Why are you asking? It is not forbidden to date your co-worker.

-           Yes, I know. It’s not what I mean… You think yes? So you aren’t then?

-           Why, why are you asking, hyeong?

-           Ah… - the manager started blushing.

-           Do you have feelings for Yun? – Jongho narrowed his eyes.

-           Ah… Kind of. – manager replied quietly.

-           Oh…

-           Please, don’t tell anyone!

-           I won’t, hyeong. But think I like her too.

-           You think? You aren’t sure?

-           Well… We haven’t spent much time with each other. So I don’t know yet, but I’m attracted to her.

-           Well, Jongho! I must tell you that I’m actually in love with Yun and I want to be with her.

-           Ooohhh… - Jongho was surprised to hear that. – For how long have you been in love?

-           Two months. Yun and I went to the same school, so we’ve known each other for a couple of years.

-           Okay… - was all Jongho could say.

-           Do you think she likes you?

-           I don’t know, hyeong.

-           How is she when she sees you?

-           She usually greets me with a smile and says goodbyes with a smile. She smiles during our conversation, and…

-           Oh… I think she likes you a lot. – Manager said with a sad look in his eyes.

-           Wha… I actually do the same when I speak with anyone. It doesn’t mean anything…

-           Yes, it does. In the case of Yun, when she does that, it means she likes you. A lot.

Jongho just stared at him with wide eyes. He looked at the wall.

-           Oh, hyeong, look at the time, I have to go.

And with that, he ran away from the manager’s office.

“What a weirdo,” he thought to himself.

 *           *          *

A month has passed since that accident.

Y/n was feeling more pressure from her parents now.

Your mother suggested looking for a perfect dress since only 2 months were left till the day X.

That is your mother, you and Jongho’s mother went to the wedding salon. You sighed when you saw happy young women try their dresses and smile at themselves.

“Do I really have to do this?” you thought.

You all were invited to a separate room and the lady in a suit asked for your preferences.

You opened your mouth wanting to say something when your mother started speaking. However, she saw your face and stopped.

-           Oh, Y/n, do you want to say something?

-           Yes, actually. I would like something comfortable…

You wanted to continue but both mothers started laughing.

-           Y/n, dear, do you really think there are comfortable wedding dresses? – Mrs Choi said.

-           Actually – the lady in a suit started. – We have simple dresses here. They are more comfortable to wear, yet you will look breath-taking in them.

-           Could you please show me?

-           Of course!

“When did she become so brave?” your mother thought and frowned.

The lady in a suit brought five dresses. Even though you didn’t really like wearing long dresses, you actually liked what you saw. You even smiled a little.

-           I would like to try all of them, please.

-           Sure, please come to the dressing room.

When you went to another room, the mothers started talking.

-           It seems like she’s accepted it. – Mrs Choi said.

-           Marrying Jongho?

-           Yes. It’s good. I’m glad they like each other.

-           You think so? I know, they were going on dates together but I think they actually went to hang out as friends.

-           Nothing bad about it. Friends are better to fall in love with than strangers. And I’ve noticed something about Jongho. When he comes home, he is very happy, as he really likes someone, and this is your daughter, of course.

-           Really? It’s good news then. – your mother smiled.

You went back to the room to show your dress. One by one you tried them but didn’t like how they look on you, like the mothers. You sighed.

You were on your way to the restroom when you suddenly saw a dress on a mannequin.

-           Can I try this one? – you asked.

-           Of course!

When you tried the dress, it looked so perfect as if it was made for you. When the lady in a suit saw you, she gasped.

-           It is perfect, miss! This is the one. – she said.

It made you smile a little.

You went to the room to show it to both mothers. They were silent after they saw you. Your mother started crying.

-           Mother, are you okay? – you asked.

Everyone looked at her.

-           Yes, I’m sorry. It’s just… you look so beautiful in it.

-           It is true. It looks perfect on you. – Jongho’s mother said passing the tissue to your mother.

-           We are taking it. – your mother said.

You went back to the dressing room and looked at the mirror.

The dress really suits you perfect. It was a white dress decorated with beautiful flowers. It had long beaded sleeves that you didn’t know you wanted to wear.

“I wonder what Jongho would think after seeing me like this…” you thought for a second.

Your eyes were wide when you realized. “What am I thinking of…? Stop it, Y/n.”. You looked at the mirror again and saw how red your face was.

-           Please, help me take it off.

-           Of course!

Choi Jongho x Female Reader

WC: 1660

Please enjoy reading!

Two months have passed. Your parents forced you and Jongho to go on dates every week and you pretended that you did. Actually, you both were preparing for your finals and passed everything successfully.

Now you didn’t have to do anything which means more time for yourself. You really wanted to go to that internship… You decided not to think about it and focus on things you couldn’t find free time for during your studies. You tried painting, reading books, doing different sports, swimming and so much more, however, no matter what you tried all your thought were about your parents and your fate as Y/L/N.

You decided to get a job for summer, you would have new people around you and make new friends, hopefully. Even though you were more on the introverted side, you preferred to face your fears, when you have enough strength.

You always thought of how your best friend does it without hesitation and you wanted to be like him. Of course, you remembered your ‘silent conversation’ with him when you saw his vulnerable side. Your opinion about him never changed, however. You perfectly understood that he was and still is fighting his own fears and worries and from that moment you supported him even more, than before. He appreciated it a lot.

You wanted something more or less simple for your job so you were thinking about bakery. You knew how to cook and bake and were glad to be hired by a local brand. After work, there were some leftovers and you always gave them to Jongho.

- But you know, I don’t really like sweet things so I can’t eat this cupcake. You take it instead.

- But I made it with love, passion, inspiration, creativity, …

- Okay, okay… I get it. But I really don’t like sweets.

You looked at him with puppy eyes.

- You won’t even do it for me? – you said with a small voice and pouted.

- Not the puppy eyes, Y/N. It’s not gonna work. – you pouted more.

- Nope. – Jongho said and carried some of the bags to the kitchen.

- Fine… Then you won’t even know how tasty it is. – with resentment in your voice.

- I believe it is the best cupcake in the world. – he said with a soft voice and smiled.

- I’m not gonna share.

- Okay. – he smiled even more.

You started eating this cupcake as it was the most delicious food you’ve ever had. Jongho started laughing and hugged you.

-     I see that you really like it. Let me have a bite then.

-     No. You said you don’t want it.

-     Just one. – he said with begging eyes.

-          Nope.

-          Okay…

-          He took your arm that was holding a cupcake and with a little bit of force moved it to his mouth.

-          Jongho, nooo!

-          Mmm… It is really tasty! You are a good backer.

You looked at him with betrayal and he laughed really loud. But on the inside, you two enjoy teasing each other sometimes. These moments made you feel like you were more than friends, it felt like you were a family. It made your heart warm to see his smile and be a reason for him to smile and he felt just the same.

-          Oh… It’s 19:00 already? I need to go. – Jongho said.

-          Where?

-          Well… I didn’t tell you but I actually have a date.

-          WHAT? Jongho, are you serious? What if somebody finds out?

-          Calm down, no one will, I promise.

-          How can you promise? Jongho, if even one of our parents finds out… Our friendship will be ruined.

-          Don’t worry, Y/N. They won’t. – he said with a reassuring voice. -  I planned everything. This person is from my work, so the date will be an hour later at our workplace. To my parents, I just told them that I have more work to do. So, thank you for hanging out with me, now I need to go back to the office. – he said and hugged you.

-          Jongho…

He left.

*           *         *

You woke up the next day remembering how you couldn’t fall asleep for a long time. You were genuinely thankful it was your day off because you felt like a mess.

The first thing you did was text your best friend.

-          Sooo… How was your date?

After 15 minutes you received:

-          Good.

-          Just good? Yeah. Wasn’t expecting much anyway.

-          Really? Choi Jongho, for your date you decided to put our friendship on a risk?

-          You are overreacting, Y/N. I’m being sneaky, I promise!

You didn’t reply.

     -     Wanna have lunch together?

     -     Maybe… When and where?

     -     At the cafeteria in our office.

     -     Okay.

     -     See ya!

You told your mother that you’re going to have lunch together with Jongho and she just nodded not even looking at you. If you’d told her you were going to have lunch with an alien of Mars she would’ve probably reacted the same. You knew she was acting this way because she thought you and Jongho already have to feel for each other and you started having lunches together almost every day. And you sighed begging for a starting headache not to start.

     -     Hi, Y/N! Glad you came!

     -     Hi! – you hugged your best friend.

     -     Are you alright? You look a bit sad. – he said with concern in his voice.

     -     Yeah… Just have some thoughts in my head. Like what do we do with this whole      situation? Are we just going to run away on the wedding day or what?

     -     Y/N, first of all, give me your hand. – you did as he said.

     -     Now, I want you to breathe in and breath out deeply. – you did so.

     -     Do you feel better now?

     -     A little bit, thank you! – you smiled.

    -      Sure! But talking about this situation, I think we really have two options now: leave it as it is or really run away, go to another country where our parents won’t be able to find us. It’s so scary, though.

    -      Wait… I wasn’t really talking serious…

    -      I know but this situation is real. Unfortunately, we can’t just sit all together and talk like grown-up people because clearly our parents live in a world of ancient traditions.  – Jongho said a bit angrily. You hugged him.

    -      Let’s calm down, eat our lunch and then think about it together.

      -    Okay. – he said silently.

While sitting together and eating lunch you decided to ask him:

     -     So, tell me how was your date and who is she… Is she here right now?

     -     I thought, I’ve already answered this one. – he pouted. – And no, it’s her day-off today.

     -     How far did you go? Did you guys kiss each other?

     -     No… Y/N, stop asking. – his ears became red.

     -     Okay… that’s good.

     -     Why? Are you already jealous, future wifey? – he laughed.

     -     Oh… freak you… - he laughed even more. The rest of the lunch you were talking about his hard time at work and your job. The topic has finally moved to the marriage.

     -     So, do you have any thoughts? – you asked.

     -     Not really. They are the same.

     -     But I’m not ready to run to another country. Even if we do it together.

     -     It’s okay, we won’t have to. There should be another way.

     -     But… what if we’ll really become a married couple? – you asked with hesitation.

     -     If this really happens, I promise to free you from your “parents’ custody”.

     -     Really? – you rolled your eyes.

     -     I’m serious. You won’t have to do anything they ask you. My words will be bigger than theirs.

     -     Okay, one plus, at least. – you sighed.

     -     Don’t worry, Y/N! If we really will have to do it, I promise to take good care of you, I will allow you to do anything you want, you will really be free then. And, of course, I promise, that I will never lay a hand on you.

     -     Oh… Am I not pretty enough. – you teased.

     -     WHAT? That’s not what I mean. Y/N, I’m trying to be respectful here and you just… he sighed and you laughed.

     -     Sorry! I know you’d stay my best friend forever if this happens.

     -     Yeah… Now, let’s take a little walk and then I’ll go back to work.

 *           *         *

When you came back home, you saw Choi’s car near your house. You carefully opened your front door and tried to be sneaky. Your father, however, saw you and told you to join their conversation.

    -      Good afternoon, Mr and Mrs Choi! It’s nice to see you again!

    -      Hello, Y/N! – Mrs Choi said.

    -      We were talking about places for wedding. Since you didn’t make any of the offered ones, Choi has their option.

-      Yes. We have a family residency in the mountains where we usually have family gatherings. I think it would be the perfect place.

    -      Ah… - you wanted to say something but were too stunned to speak.

    -      It would be better if you see it with your own eyes. – Mrs Choi said.

You finally snapped back.

    -      It is a huge honour, Mr and Mrs Choi! But I don’t think Jongho and I should…

    -      Of course, you should – Mrs Choi interrupted. – You will be a part of our family, after all. – you gulped.

    -      Great! Then it’s a deal! – your father said.

    -      Wonderful! – Jongho’s father exclaimed.

You were just standing there with wide eyes looking at how your parents have just decided for you again.

“I’ll take good care of you… you’ll be free” you suddenly remembered. “I hope the wedding won’t but if it will, at least Jongho will set me free.”

Arranged Marriage. Part 3

It is a hard time, but you’ll overcome it together.

- What do you want to know? – he lifted his brows and pouted.

- Everything! – you said with eyes full of expectation.

- Everything… hm. – he repeated silently. – Okay, I was born in Octob…

- Wha… That’s not what I meant. – you slightly punched him on his shoulder.

- At least, it made you smile. – he looked at you and slightly smiled. You smiled back. You took his hand in yours and looked him in the eyes.

- I’m serious, Jongho. You are my best friend, I’m worried, you know. – you lowered your sight. – Please, tell me what is on your soul, I want you to speak and share your hard feelings with me. Please, you don’t have to go through everything alone. – you looked at him again.

- It’s probably the first time you talk so serious with me. – he smiled and sighed, his breath shaking. – Let’s sit on your sofa. – he offered and you followed him.

You were sitting in silence. You were looking at him waiting and he was softly smiling and looking at his hands which were placed on his knees.

He looked at you, laughed nervously and looked at his hands again.

-           Don’t rush, take your time, it’s okay. – you said quietly and he nodded.

It was silent again.

-           I… - he started and then stopped, smiled and sighed. You looked at him staring at your floor and wanted to hug him, you started reaching your hand and suddenly he said:

-           Can we just sit in silence? – it was very quiet. His eyes were sad and exhausted. You smiled and nodded, now hugging him. He placed his head on your shoulder and closed his eyes.

He really appreciated that you cared about him and wanted to speak out about everything that was weighing his shoulders but felt he wasn’t ready yet.

You placed your head on his and also closed your eyes. You hoped you could at least give him some energy sitting like this and hugged him even tighter.

You felt you were slowly falling asleep.

*          *          *

You woke up in your bed. It was dark. You searched for your phone to look at the time, it was 00:10. You stood up from your bed to change your clothes and brush your teeth.

When you sat on your bed ready to sleep again, you saw a piece of paper on your nightstand. It was a short note from your best friend.

You read and smiled, eyes filling with tears. You sat on your bed for a moment with closed eyes and tears on your chicks. You felt relieved. Even though you haven’t been living the best life at the moment, you were happy to see Jongho relaxing in your company for some time.

*           *          *

It was 08:00 when your mother knocked on your door and opened it, you were still laying on your bed.

-           So, you are awake? Good morning, my dear daughter! – she smiled.

You wanted to roll your eyes but she still was your mother who you loved despite all the disgust you felt.

-           Good morning. – you said with a raspy voice.

-           Get up from your bed and go wash because today will be very busy.

-           Why? Are we going somewhere?

-           Yes, yesterday we and Chois chose some places that would be suitable for the wedding ceremony, however, we decided that both you and Jongho should choose one among them. That’s why we all are going to look at them.

You gulped. The reality hit you again.

-           Mother, - you quietly started. – Do we really have to… - but your words were interrupted by your mother’s “you have 15 minutes to get ready.” And then she went to her bedroom.

You sat in your bed and deeply exhaled. “I don’t want to cry, I must be strong, don’t want to be weak as always.” you thought to yourself. You stood up with angrily-positive energy and went to your bathroom.

*           *          *

-           Good morning Mr and Mrs Y/L/N! – Jongho said as you were walking from your home to your car.

-           Good morning to you too, Jongho! – your father said smiling.

-           Hi! – he looked at you smiling widely.

-           Hey! – you hugged him. – Your parents aren’t coming with us?

-           No, they and my little brother had to go to our family gathering and they told me that I have to go and choose the place for the ceremony with you. – he said with a little bit of irritation. – But, at least, I’m spending time with my bestie today, I guess.

-           I don’t think you fully understand that we are literally going to look at the places for our wedding. – you laughed.

-           Yeah, that part sucks. – he smiled.

You were glad that your parents were busy with their car and didn’t hear your little conversation.

-            Okay, everything is ready. Hop on, guys! – your father said enthusiastically.

During the ride, you were watching videos of some kpop groups and sometimes singing along. You were amazed by Jongho’s singing when he could hit all the high notes in your favourite girl’s group song.

When you were approaching your first destination, your father said:

-           Can’t believe we are choosing a place for our daughter’s wedding. Our princess is going to be a married woman soon.

You looked at him in disgust but luckily he didn’t see it, but Jongho giggled silently hearing your nickname.

-           Is that some kind of palace? – Jongho asked with confusion.

You turned your head to his side and saw a tall building of dark green and rose-gold colours. The building was decorated with statues on the roof and mosaic in the centre of it. Next, you saw a huge garden with statues in it.

-           It used to be a palace one day, but now it’s just a place for different kinds of events.

-           Oh… - Jongho said with rounded lips.

You hopped off the car and saw two people patiently waiting for you near the rose-golden door.

-           I don’t think I like these colours. – you quietly said to your best friend with all seriousness.

-           Me neither. This is a place for older people. We need something more of lighter shades and different colours, like milky white, maybe. – he made a serious expression as he was thinking hard.

Then you looked at each other and laughed.

-           Shhhh! – your mother said with an angry look.

-           I’m sorry, mother. – you said.

-           Hello, Mr and Mrs Y/L/N! It is a pleasure to meet you! – a woman in a black suit said.

-           It is nice to meet you too! – your father said.

Both you and Jongho looked at her with an innocent look.

-           And you must be miss Y/L/N Y/N and Choi Jongho?

-           Yes. It’s nice to meet you! – you and Jongho said.

-           Great! Please follow me inside.

She told you about the history of the building, the events that were held here, its cultural value and many more. You all looked bored, even your parents. Jongho yawned.

-           So… this is basically all. Do you have any questions?

-           NO – all four of you said.

-           Actually, we have five more places to visit, so we will let you know later if we choose this one. – your mother said with a smile.

-           Of course. – woman said.

You all went outside, sat in the car and your father said:

-           I felt like I was on a school ride to countries’ heritage places. – and everyone laughed.

The atmosphere felt lighter and you were glad that your father had a sense of humour. You even relaxed a little bit even though you were literally going to the next place to see if it suits your wedding ceremony or not.

You’ve visited all the places and both you and Jongho said that you wouldn’t want any of them to be the ones for the wedding ceremony. You were surprised when your parents agreed. You were glad that there you don’t choose any place, however, it meant, that there will be a second trip like this next time. The feeling of reality again stung you in your heart.

Arranged marriage. Part 2

Thank you guys so much for liking my writing, I know it’s far from perfect!

Here comes Part 2. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Pairing: Choi Jongho x Female reader

Please note, that it is a fictional story based on a dream I had the other day.

You went to Jongho’s room and he locked to door behind you. You looked at each other with empty expressions and he said:

-           Guess we aren’t going abroad.

-           Oh… Shut up. Don’t try to change the mood. – you said with a soft and sad look but felt sorry for bursting your anger on him.

Jongho sighed and sat on his bed, you followed him. You just sat and stayed silent for some time. You were thinking of how all your plans for the future would be ruined now.

-           Maybe…- Jongho started. You slowly looked up at him. – Maybe we can just pretend to fall in love with each other and when our parents are happy that we live together, we would actually have our own separate lives.

-           For how long would you be able to keep this secret? And also, you have never lied to anyone in your life, so how are you doing to do it?

-           Just have this thought. But yeah… I know it won’t work, especially for our mothers who can sense everything.

-           Yeah… But you know. At least, we would have to pretend to go on dates so that they can leave us in peace for some time and then… I don’t know… Are we really going to marry? – You looked at Jongho with a tired expression.

-           I don’t know, Y/N. If so, then let’s promise each other, that no matter what, our relationship would stay the same. I mean, I hope we will be able to stay friends and not hate each other living constantly together. – He looked you in the eyes. - Y/N, you are literally my best friend and if our relationship will go bad, I… We both would be so heartbroken. So, please, promise, that we will stay the same! – He looked at you with the begging eyes.

Now you really saw that he maybe was even more worried about this whole situation and so you link your pinkie with his and you both said “Promise” 3 times. After that, you smiled at each other, the mood slightly changed to a lighter and you again were grateful to have support from your friend.

 *          *         *

You woke up in your room. Five days passed now from that hurtful day. You felt a little stung in your chest but then remembered the Promise you two gave to each other and the pain stopped.

You preferred to think that everything will end up well and maybe if you try to talk with your parents, they will be kind to set you free from the rock you had.

You already wanted to go to the living room where your parents were when you saw Jongho’s parents. Your eyes widened and you felt your stomach twisting. You overheard a little.

-           I would love to give them a car as a wedding present and you should buy that house you were talking about. – your mother said to Mrs Choi.

-           Oh… that’s a great idea! Of course, my son has his own money but he still wouldn’t be able to afford a house, and as I know, Y/N is not working yet.

-           She is not. But she wanted to apply for an internship abroad, she has always been so adventurous and curious. – your mother said with a smile. However, you started feeling disgusted towards her and it made you so sad because you’ve never had this feeling towards your family. Now everything seemed faked.

-           Oh… Y/N, you’re already awake? – your father said when he saw your pale face. – Are you feeling good?

-           Good morning! Hello Mr and Mrs Choi! I’m feeling good, father, I’m sorry if I worried you!

-           Such a polite young lady! We would be proud to have you in our family. – Mr Choi said. You managed to squeeze a little smile.

-           Don’t be shy, you can join our conversation. – Mrs Choi said.

-           Thank you for your offer, Mrs Choi, but I actually have to go meet Jongho. We have a date today. – you looked at everyone and smiled.

-           Already? Well, I’m glad to hear that you are smart young people who understand adult things! – your mother said and you literally wanted to throw up.

-           Yes. Jongho and I discussed everything and decided to start having dates.

-           That’s great, princes! – your father said.

-           I will see you later! Have a nice day Mr and Mrs Choi! – you said with a huge smile and went back to your room.

You took your phone to call your best friend.

-     Yes, Y/N. Everything all right?

-      I need to get drunk. – you said in a monotone. You understood that there is no way now you can approach your parents with that conversation you planned in your head after lying to them you would be going on dates.

-     Why? What happened? Did your parents do something?

-     Yeah… No… Kinda. I wanted to talk with them and saw your parents in our living room discussing what they will give us at our wedding and saw me and offered to join them. I had to lie that I have a date with you.

-     Hm… My parents didn’t tell me they’ll be going to yours’. Okay, let’s meet at our bar.

-     Thanks, Jongho!

-     No problems!

After half an hour you met at the entrance. Your face was still pale. You couldn’t really eat properly these days and felt like you were drunk without actually drinking. When Jongho saw you, he smiled widely but then his eyes noticed your pale face and he became worried. He hugged you as he always does and asked you if you had your breakfast. When you told him you hadn’t, he said he’ll treat you.

You went in and he ordered you two plates of breakfast, a plate of snacks and two Americanos. When you tried to whine and pouted (because you really thought you will be drinking at this time of the day), he looked at you and said with a smile:

-     Please, don’t ruin your health. I want to see my bestie healthy and not pale.

Even though you were one year older, you always thought that Jongho was really mature for his age and it always made you wonder how may stuff he went through in order to become so strong and grown-up. You were looking him in the eyes while thinking about that.

-     I hope you heard me. – he said with concern in his eyes and you nodded.

Soon came the food and you both dug in. It was the first time in five days that you’d eaten the whole plate. Inside you were thanking Jongho for taking care of you and making you eat everything, you felt much better now.

-     I’m glad you enjoyed it. – he said softly.

-     Because of you. – you said with a small smile. – No, really, thank you! You’d probably be a better parent for me than my own two.

Jongho sighed and made a wry smile looking at the floor.

-     Do you have plans tonight? – you asked putting him out of his thoughts.

-     Why?

-     I thought, maybe we can really go out drinking.

-     Y/H!!! What have I told you just twenty minutes ago? – he looked at you with wide eyes while scolding.

You laughed and said you were just joking. He offered to take a walk to your house instead and you agreed.

While walking to yours’ you started thinking that your best friend always helps you, is always there, when you need him and he never complains about it. You thought that it must be hard for him to keep up with your emotions sometimes. Also, he almost never showed you his when he felt upset and angry. You envied his self-control abilities but at the same time wanted him to show his emotions openly, at least to you.

You woke up from thoughts when Jongho took your hand in his.

-     If you won’t stop daydreaming, you’d fall eventually. I don’t want to be the one responsible for it.

-     Sorry. – you said. Again, he was taking care of you like a big brother.

-     Jongho, how are you doing?

-     Huh? I’m… I’m fine, why?

-     Just asking.

-     Okay.

It was a weird silence for a couple of seconds.

-     I’m not just asking actually. – you decided to go for it. – I really want to know how are you doing, how are you feeling.

-     I told you, I’m doing fine. – he said with a smile. He usually did it when he wanted to stop pushing him further.

So you did. You decided to try later when there will be only two of you in a private space. Deep inside Jongho really appreciated your concern for him, he could read your mind without any effort and knew you asked him because you really cared. He smiled slightly without you noticing.

You were approaching your house when Jongho saw his parents’ car. In all honesty, he wanted to run away from them. He wanted to leave his house, at least for some time. He was tired of hearing what he should do as a member of Choi’s family, what he should do as a man, what he should do as a young adult and now he was tired of his father telling him what he should do when he marries you. Despite all his thoughts, he didn’t show you any of his emotions, however, squeezed your hand a little bit harder.

You entered your house and saw both of your parents there comfortably sitting in the dining room and drinking tea with lots of different kinds of beautifully made expensive pastry.

You looked at Jongho, you couldn’t read what he was thinking at the moment, he has no emotions written on his face. However, inside Jongho was shaking and screaming and worried and exhausted and many more other emotions. He was wondering if it is possible to feel all these emotions at one time and was thankful he could just perfectly hide them from everyone.

-     Hello Mr and Mrs Y/LN! Hello father and mother!

-     Hello! Hello! Y/H, Jongho! – your father said. – How was your date?

-     It was good. – you hastily said. – everyone looked at you now with suspicion.

-     Ah… It was just a new experience for us. But it went well, we were comfortable with each other. – Jongho said and smiled at you and then at both of your parents.

-     Yeah. – you smiled awkwardly.

-     Okay… It’s good you started now, you will get used to it soon. – you and Jongho were so tired of hearing that same phrase. How can you get used to something you don’t want to get used to?

-     Anyways, what are you discussing? – Jongho asked.

-     We were discussing where it would be better for you to have the wedding. – his mother replied.

-     Oh… - Jongho said quietly and stiffened a little, which you noticed. You wanted to talk to him about it, about his feeling he hid from you, about his emotional state right now, you wanted to help and support him just like he did it for you.

-     Do you want to join? – his mother offered.

-     Actually -  you said. – Jongho and I were heading to my room.

-     Okay, but don’t close the door. – your mother said.

-     What? Why? We just wanted to hang out together.

-     Yes, I understand and you don’t need to close the door for this, right?

-     Right… - you sighed.

Jongho looked at you and your mother confused. He thought he will be heading home now, instead, you dragged him to your room.

You tried closing the door leaving just a little bit of space in between.

-     Now… - you looked at Jongho with all seriousness. - Tell me everything and don’t try to hide it from me. I need you to talk to me!

Arranged marriage. Part 1

A story about arranged marriage between Choi Jongho and reader.

This is my first time writing ever, so please, don’t judge hard. Also, English is not my first language.

Basically, I had a similar dream and decided to write a story.

Your families were friends for centuries.

When you were born your parents made a great celebration, the Choi family was invited as well, of course. They praised you and wished a bright future and happiness to you and the whole family.

Soon after your birth, the head of the Choi family declared that he and his wife are expecting a child. On October 12 Choi family welcomed a healthy and happy baby who was given the name Jongho.

You and Jongho went to the same kindergarten, same school, and even the same university. You were practically best friends who grew up together and did not have secrets from each other.

Of course, his and your parents have noticed your beautiful friendship from the start of it. When you and Jongho met for the first time in your house, it was a very shy but adorable experience. You both were too shy to approach each other, so your parents introduced to each other and told you to go outside and play.

When 3 year old were more comfortable with each other presence and started playing in the garden, your parents were discussing one important question. His parents gave presents to yours and told them that you are already so smart and well-behaved, that you will grow up to be a beautiful, modest and very kind woman. Your parents thanked his and told them that Jongho is already so talented, smart and well-behaved as well, that he will grow up to be a brave, strong, handsome man and gave their presents as well. After some discussion, it was decided that at the age of 20 you and Jongho will become husband and wife and that each year both of your parents would preserve some amount of money for your wedding and future life together.

In a way, you too were lucky that you became life-long friends and not enemies.

You and Jongho were in your class at university when only half of a year was left till the day X. Your parents told you to come to Choi’s house after your classes were over and to tell you some news. You both were excited, especially you because you thought that maybe your parents would finally approve to go abroad for your internship together. It was your dream to travel and discover new places with your bestie.

When the classes were finally over, you called an uber and while waiting you became even more nervous and excited and couldn’t hold it anymore.

Y/N: How do think, will they allow us to go to an internship together? Jongho (J): I really hope they will. It would be wonderful to finally go abroad and see the world, get new experiences, and meet new people and cultures.

Y/N: Definitely! You are reading my mind right now, and it would be great to…

You were stopped by the uber driver coming from his car who told you to be fast because he was in a rush. Jongho looked at you apologetically because you were cut off and at the same time he was smiling a little bit because of your annoyed look.

When you entered the house, both of your families were already sitting behind the table only waiting for you too. They told you to take a sit beside them and you did so. You looked at Jongho with excited eyes and he tried to calm you down a little by holding your hand under the table.

His father cleared his throat and started speaking:

-           So, as you guys can see we have a table that can break from the amount of food on it and a document in my hand that you both will need to sign.

You looked a little bit confused but though that may be your parents were too afraid for you to go abroad that they would make you sign lots of insurance documents in order to protect you as much as they can.

-           I am happy to announce that on November 17th Jongho and Y/N would become a married couple and will hold on to the rules and status of both the families and spread the traditions to the next generation.

You felt that Jongho’s hand fell from yours. You looked at him, his eyes were wide and his face became pale. After a second you realized that you looked the same. Your breath became shaky as you couldn’t believe what you’d just heard. It was completely silent and your father started speaking:

-           Oh… Y/N, Jongho, why do you look so shocked? Are you guys not happy to hear that you will spend your whole life together?

-           They are just a little bit confused. They’ll get used to it, just like we did – Jongho’s mother said.

“Just like we did” rang in your head. What did she mean? Does it really mean that they also had an arranged marriage? Do they even love each other? You were so shocked and sad, you thought you would start crying but you held yourself.

-           What do you mean by that? I thought that you married each other because of pure love… - Jongho said with an almost silent cry.

He was more shocked than you to find out that his parent could not love each other and maybe even their child.

His mother interrupted his thoughts:

-           Even though our marriage was arranged, we were in love when it happened. So will you. – she looked at you and Jongho.

-           What about you? – you asked looking at your parents. Jongho quickly looked at you and then at your parents.

-           Dear Y/N. It is not such a big deal. You will quickly get used to it and live happily together. You can’t even imagine how wonderful it is to be marr… - your mother was interrupted by your words:

-           So it was then an arranged marriage. – you breathed out. – Do you love each other? – you looked at your father with a tear dropping from your eye.

-           Of course, we do! – your father and mother said in unison. You still looked at them in disbelief.

Jongho tapped your leg:

-           Don’t interrupt your mother. She… They are still your parents.

You nodded looking down and feeling the second tear on your face.

Jongho’s father cleared his throat again:

-           Look, guys, I understand that it is shocking and confusing for you right now but you will be happy together, I can promise you that! Moreover, it isn’t a coincidence we told you now and not on the day of your wedding. Now that you know, you can spend more time with each other start going on dates and become a couple. Trust me, if you do it, you would be in love with each other on your wedding day!

You and Jongho just were sitting silent looking down. You wanted to cry and scream at your parents but you were just sitting there in your chair feeling small, betrayed and helpless. You were sobbing quietly when your father said you can your food now.

Under the table, you felt a slightly warm hand squeezing yours lightly. You wanted to look at Jongho but your head felt so heavy that it was physically impossible. Right now you were thankful that you have at least one person who tries to support you and calm you. You felt bad you couldn’t do the same for him at the moment when you knew he was just as devastated as you are.

When the dinner was over, your parents told you that you can go.
