visceral and occasionally full of viscera -Bel deRiver

Why is everyone so maladjusted? Are you feeling okay? Do we need to talk? -My actual real life mother that also read this

i hate this thing why is it so long -Squid

Synopsis: Cloud, now four years out from Meteorfall, struggles to adjust to civilian life given he's still gene-spliced with an Old God, and begins losing control of his body to a heretofore seemingly unknown entity with inscrutable goals. As it gradually becomes clear that the events of the previous four years aren't as they seem in more ways than one, things start to go off the rails completely as Cloud winds up enmeshed in conflict between multiple parties: an international initiative studying cosmology and the two doctors leading it; the WRO, who has considered him a Jenova-based liability from day one; interpersonal friction with his newfound family stemming from the residual baggage of everything he went through; and reality itself beginning to deteriorate.

It's slice of life, it's cosmic horror, it's a character study, it's about grown men crying and legacies and grief and trauma and intimacy and autonomy and gender as a microcosm for broader truths about the nature of the self, it's got angry tearful fistfights, bottoms that haven't figured out you can take it in turn to service top, Cloud telling everyone his strong and correct opinions about magic and materia and bikes, found family shenanigans, and me talking about garlic for way way way too long. Something for everyone!

I wasn't kidding about any of that by the way, heed the warnings at the top of the chapters because I do NOT pull punches and we get into some heavy shit. Go hard or go home.

Originally it was a 500 word pee joke I was gonna show to two people in response to a terrible LTD argument I saw someone make and was sure I'd "wrap it up quickly". Oops.

did you know you can do anythingh with your ocs and no one can stop you.. did you know you can make aus of your ocs. you should make aus of your ocs

The thing is I would be a lot less upset about paying $80 dollars for a video game if

A. The money actually went to the laborers and developers who made the game in the first place.

B. Prices for most console games were more flexible, and actually went down over time, rather than selling a years-old game from the last generation at a markup from it's original MSRP.

C. The price was adjusted for places where buying a video game can cost several month's paycheck.

Like games as a medium, especially big AAA titles, take an absurd amount of labor hours to make. In a just world, maybe GTA VI or whatever should be $100 dollars, given how many people probably bled for probably a decade to make it! Unfortunately that money will not, in this industry, go back to the developers, the coders, the artists who made the damn thing. They'll be worked to death, paid peanuts, and fired as soon as the game releases.

Mourning Doves can be a bit hard to love because they tend to dominate feeders here and there are so many of them, but they make up for it with their adorable goofiness. And they are one of the best posers 😆

Using this outlet to log my absolute fucking disdain for the Switch 2.

80-dollar games. How about you choke on my fucking ass?

80-dollar base price from a company that already doesn't do sales or price drops for old games.

We just did the price hike to 70 bucks for a few select games here and there, and now you're pushing it to 80 just because you can?

Your "tour of the system" tech demo is a paid download?

Eject yourself from the fucking industry.

"But devs deserve--" Devs will be worked to the point of psychologically breaking for fucking pennies, just like they always have been. Price hikes have literally only ever gone to the Executive Bonus Fund.

"But game budgets--" If your budget's unsustainable, scale back. Reconfigure. Maybe take some money out of those big executive bonuses before you start trying to milk it out of me.

Not my problem. Not my business. Literally.

The PS5 has two and a half games five years into its lifespan. The Switch 2 is a price-gouging machine. The Xbox, as far as I can tell, is some sort of myth (but, then, that implies that anyone, anywhere, is actually talking about the Xbox).

Extremely good and healthy "leaders of the industry."
