Welcome to the Night Market! Book One is already complete and up for sale. Book two is well underway.

The Night Market is an interactive novel in which you awaken to a lantern filled world with no memory of how you got there. Desperate to get home, you must find the gate that leads back to your world, while navigating a foreign land, rife with political intrigue, arbitrary rules and secrets designed to keep you distracted. Nine barons rule the market , a place so vast that not even they can truly know its scope. But, one baron holds the key to your safe return home. Yet, no one has seen or heard from him in over a decade.

A rakish sort with an easy smile and a penchant for adventure. He is seen frequenting taverns and can generally be found where life is in full swing. Local thief and all around charming individual that upon meeting you has taken a special interest in your plight. Though he seems to be able to offer very little in the way of solutions, he is all too happy to stand by your side as you carve your way in this world.

Can be romanced as a triad poly or a v poly.

Owner of Hazel’s Apothecary and a grey lump of a cat named Mr. Billows. Considered the local ‘bog witch’, she has been secluded away to her own sector within the market. Known for her tonics and herbal remedies, Hazel is viewed as a pariah. A woman who will curse you on sight and whose shop hands have all gone mysteriously missing over the years. Though, upon meeting her, she seems sweet and eager to help you find your way home.

Can be romanced only in a singular romance.

Guard Captain of the docks, a local penitentiary for the wrong doers of the Night Market, and the warden of the holding cells you are placed in upon arriving. A stern and straight forward man with little emotion other than to be weary of the events of his day. Gabriel arrived in the Night Market only a decade prior, but refuses to speak of where he hailed from before. Overall, he is a shut-down and bitter man, scorned by what the world has given him thus far.

Can be romanced in a triad poly or in a singular romance

A courtesan of the pleasure district and a sought after political force. A stunning beauty, educated and refined, who unwittingly has her hands in most of the affairs and secrets of the market proper. A beguiling woman who will be whoever she needs to for the right price. Everyone claims to know her, and yet no one can tell you a truthful detail about her. It is said she almost gave it all away for the man she loved, yet when asked, she only bats her lashes and smiles, claiming to have loved far too many to even know who you are referring to.

Can be romanced in a triad poly or a singular romance.

Features

Milo: "Are ya now? I'd like to meet this fine fellow who has stolen your heart. I'm sure he is roguishly handsome. Smart as a whip. And dances as if he is on water."

Hazel: "Of course you are. And rightfully so. You are a catch."

Belladonna: "You better remember that. Now come home, dear heart. Your head is going to hurt in the morning."

Gabriel: "No. I am your partner. You simply do not remember because you have indulged."

Malcolm: "I'm happily taken, too. Now, let's get you somewhere that you can sleep this off."

Bella HATES it. And then kind of loves it at the same time. I think she hates it in response to not knowing more than MC. But loves it when MC works with her and is able to get her information she has been struggling to achieve.

Gabriel doesn't even realize it is happening. It's like the man is told about the MC's ability and then kind of just ignores it because he wants to treat MC as an equal.

Milo thinks it's funny... at times. He likes it as a parlor trick but also knows that he can get in a lot of trouble.

Malcolm is pretty okay with it all. I think it was something he always knew so he didn't have to get used to the idea like the others.

Hazel finds it a little unnerving. Mainly because she is wary of power. And wary of her lover knowing how much power she has.

Pen finds it annoying because they can never keep anything from MC.

There was a small hum coming from the room. I paused outside the front door, listening to the sounds inside. The notes were soft and sweet and broken in areas as Bella tried to keep quiet. Pushing open the door, I peered in. Belladonna was walking back and forth in a high slitted latex dress, her hair piled upon her head with silver clips. On her shoulder, our daughter slept. Her red ringlets cascaded down her back and her bow lips were slightly parted in sleep.

"She still sick?" I asked, stepping inside and closing the door softly behind me.

Belladonna rolled her eyes. "Rightfully so. I told her not to drink rat blood. But she wanted to be like the vampires in the books. Foolish, child." I could hear the affection behind her words, though. Our daughter was tenacious and a reader. Belladonna couldn't ask for anything more.

Coming over, I placed a hand on her back, leaning in to steal a kiss from my wife. Bella nipped at me, her eyes glowing faintly as I pulled away.

"Want me to take her?" I asked.

Glancing down, Belladonna shook her head. "No. I'm in the middle of my song."

I raised my hands and stepped away. "Don't let me interrupt." Before I left, however, Bella called out to me. I turned back, watching the two of them silhouetted in the light of the window.

"Don't fall asleep," she commanded. "I want to have my way with you when I'm done."

I grinned at her, shaking my head. It was cute that she thought our baby girl was going to let us do anything tonight. The kid had a sixth sense. And it was interrupting anything we did.

"I'll wait for you," I told her anyway. Maybe my girls would surprise me.

I forget what path it is on, but basically he explains it (or maybe Malcolm does?) that he cannot lie unless the lie is so absurd that it couldn't possibly be true. Hence his stories about random Mguilicutty races (or whatever that story was) and his penchant for just insane little comments at times.

So, the fact that he said he didn't love the MC, was just so absurd, that he was able to say it.

OMG! I hadn't even thought about that before. It does pose the question, what would happen if the NM that is wandering the realm gains different agency than the NM itself. Does that create conflict?

I have hinted a few times of the NM itself doing something without the MC's knowledge, so it might actually be a thing.

I adore the dynamic they have. Mal strikes me as the very tired character in an anime that has to kind of calm down the high energy friend. MC is the person that evens them both out so they don't get too far into their own personalities. But yes, I do very much see Milo and Malcolm as MC's guard dogs. They would be terrifying if anything came for MC at this point. Those two would fight for the NM to a very bloody degree.

MC went down to the pillars and had that moment with Malcolm within the liminal space. That was what MC was referring to with Neve. While Malcolm's body was physically back, there was still more that needed done. Which will probably be talked about later or maybe a scene will be added there. I haven't quite decided yet. But very good catch on that.

And I want Pen back so bad, too. :) I'm trying to work them in. Pen is doing some very important things in the background right now, though.

So the cozy games will be continuing on the months that I am unable to put a chapter out. This month will not have a cozy game because I will be doing all the post chapter shorts. Most likely it will be out for the month of May.

No joke, I do feel like that's what will end up happening. Seriously, with MC walking around and actually integrating themselves into the market, you just know weird stuff happens based on their feelings. I want to incorporate that more. I mean, we are starting to see little things happening in the market due to the MC but I want MORE because it would just be delicious.

The camera is invented because someone is certain a wall or an alley is changing every day and they need something to prove it.

Hazel see's the world in very very different ways. LOL! Quite literally.
