Hey y’all! We broke down these concept even further! We only support full decriminalization! (✔️)decriminalization (✖️)partial decriminalization (✖️)legalization#decrimnow #decrimnowdc pic.twitter.com/pfJ5EvIKhr

Image description: an info graphic which says the following,

“Why Fully Decriminalize Sex Work? Why Not Criminalize Buyers, or Legalize?

The movement to provide support and real safety to Black and Brown people in the sex trades is growing. Decriminalizing sex work removes the threats of arrest for engaging in sex work, police abuse, stigma, and obstacles to resources for many in the sex trades.

We right for the “full decriminalization” of sex work, in which both selling and buying sexual services is decriminalized. Full decriminalization increases public health and safety, while decreasing stigma and barriers to resources. Sex workers tell us this, and the data shows it, too.

We only support full decriminalization of sex work, and here’s why:

Full Decriminalization * Eliminates criminal penalties associated with sex work and related activities or transactions * Reduces interactions between police and sex workers * Reduces stigma by acknowledging sex work is work * Increases safety by better enabling client screening, negotiation, cooperation with third parties for safety and transportation * Betters public health outcomes, including decreased risk of HIV and other STIs

Partial Criminalization * Removes criminal penalties for sex workers, but continues the criminalization of clients and organizing * Continues to require sex workers to avoid the police * Becomes a “buyer’s market” and can require [sex workers to] take more risks to protect buyers and they may be exposed to more violent clients *Increases isolation, making it difficult to have a community and social network on the stroll *Continuing criminalization of clients often still has discriminatory effect, disproportionately impacting Black and brown folks

Legalization * Imposes a regulatory framework with laws regarding where, when, and how sex work could take place * New system, similar issues: leads to a two-tiered system of “legal” and “illegal” sex work * Continues barriers to safety and resources for those outside the legal framework * Provides allocated resources to law enforcement and other government agencies to regulate consensual, private behavior * Requires sex workers to keep up with registration fees, costs, and licenses, which can be difficult for people with little money and resources”

inception is a decent movie but there's so much horror tragedy potential written into its premise and the implications of its worldbuilding and being able to see that and do nothing about it makes me feel deranged

dream technology was developed by the military "so soldiers could practice shooting, stabbing and strangling each other". the only way to escape a dream before it ends is by killing yourself or convincing someone to kill you. you can live entire lifetimes in a dream, only to wake up to the disorientation of realising that only hours have passed in the waking world. prolonged exposure to dream-sharing tech carries the high risk of inducing psychosis to the point that you can no longer tell the difference between dreams and reality. you can carry a "totem" that behaves differently in a dream to counter this, but if anyone else gets their hands on it and figures out how it works, it's game over. dreaming is so addictive that some people sacrifice their waking lives to keep dreaming for longer. people can be hired to break into your mind and take anything they want from it, down to your most intimate parts, and sell them for profit. if that's not paranoia-inducing enough, entering someone else's mind carries the risk of being hunted down and torn to pieces by manifestations of their own psyche in a subconscious act of self-defence that cannot be controlled, because what you are doing is invasive and violent. the premise of the film rests on a superrich man hiring a group of people to fundamentally alter a man's identity because inheriting his father's corporation has the potential to make him a BUSINESS COMPETITOR. the leader of said heist team is so haunted by the suicide of his wife that he (unintentionally) caused by violating her mind to the point of madness that he locks the rest of them into a labyrinth of his own guilt, stalked by the minotaur her vengeful ghost. oh, and on the right cocktail of drugs, you can't wake up from a nightmare, and will instead end up in pure unconstructed unreality, surrounded only by decaying structures built by those who inhabited it before you, whose intentions and regrets might still haunt the landscape like a malevolent physical presence.

and you still have to go to work in the morning!

Luigi voices the thoughts of the entire Super Mario fandom.

A lil joke I thought of based on the movie’s trailer, the world’s combined horniness for Bowser, and that sweet sweet Bowuigi uwu

That last one is a lil treat because someone in my stream’s chat said Bowser looked like the “Cover them up slut” meme and I put way too much effort into making it happen. xD

“I don’t learn this in school :(“

Hey here’s a question what steps have you taken to increase your education and knowledge since graduating?

12 years is not nearly enough time to teach you everything to know about the world, especially when the starting point is “a says ah” and “1+1=2” and “rain comes from clouds.”

There are people who spend their whole lives in pursuit of knowledge and do not run out of stuff to learn. If you want to be well-informed and knowledgeable as an adult you have to actually make your continued education a priority. The library is free, thousands on online resources are accessible to all, and somewhere near you is an affordable museum or culture center or zoo or art display that can give you information you didn’t know.

Look, the purpose of school is to give you the tools for finding knowledge, processing knowledge, analyzing knowledge, and otherwise turning knowledge upside down and shaking it until something interesting falls out.

What's the first thing they give you? Well, "how to act in a classroom," which is a tool for accessing the first academic lesson, which is your ABCs. Which are the first step in reading. Which is where the vast majority of information in our society is stored. They also teach you how to manipulate numbers, which are the basis for a vast number of things you may have to figure out some day, from "why won't my incredibly esoteric code work," to, "is $39.99 a lot?" (Both questions depend completely on the circumstances.) They also give you some knowledge about our world, which starts with the very basic—"We live in something called a country"—and goes on to far more esoteric knowledge like, "Rome really had a bug up its ass about Carthage." But even a lot of that is to help you get a framework of What We Know Of The World that will make other bits of knowledge make sense. If someone says to you that humanity was planted on this earth 200 years ago by space aliens, hopefully there are some very pointed questions you would think to ask, starting with, "So why are the pyramids here and also old," and ending with, "are you out of your mind?" The whole Carthage thing doesn't matter so much as having a vague concept of who the Romans were and when they were and what they were doing, so that you can then add onto that knowledge with specifics, when and as necessary, and spot obvious flim-flam jobs.

Do some teachers lose sight of this, well, most of them to be perfectly honest lose sight of it now and again. No reason why you should, though. School is not intended to be All The Knowledge You Will Need, it's intended to be Here's A Rough Primer for Finding The Knowledge You May Need. It's not a library, it's a card catalogue. (Or, I suppose a more current metaphor would be, "it's not wikipedia, it's the search bar at the top.")

School is supposed to be a primer for further learning and a foundational knowledge base to indicate the basic shape of the world.

Whether and to what extent it succeeds at that is . . . debatable.

once again thinking about the time I was On Here talking about the importance of intergenerational queer friendship and specifically how positively my life has been shaped by befriending and being mentored by a man 15 years my senior while I was in college, only for someone on here to have the audacity to tell me that mentorship wasn't real and I was just being groomed

and honestly the thing about it that's TRULY baffling to me isn't someone asserting that a complete strangers is a sex criminal of sometimes, because that's just bread and butter on here, but the very confident statement that mentorship??? isnt real???

what ppl defending kids on ipads don’t seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.

thanks for putting your wrong and bad commentary in the tags where i still have to read all of it. most of what you said is untrue.

OP: giving children too young to process things so much access to ipads isn’t good for them maybe.

People in the notes: So you hate moms??? You’re ableist?? You think we should go back to the Dark Ages?? (My personal favorite because it makes no sense) you’re poor shaming??

Why is it so difficult to explain that children not developing fine motor skills and losing their attention spans is bad actually??

Genuine question? Why do IPad parents act like there's nothing else you can give your child to play with. Ok maybe they don't like reading, or coloring and want to play something. Tetris consoles are still available, so are those handheld water game thingies ( where you have two buttons and the air pushes plastic rings around). These will occupy your kid for longer but still it won't make them what to rip your throat if you decide to take it from them.

Like your child should learn how to be bored but if you truly need a break there are better options than allowing them access to endless TikTok videos.

Know what's cheaper than an IPad? A fuckin etch-a-sketch, a little fidget toy, a stick.

Like, technology has its place but it shouldn’t be used as a replacement for actual parenting and education. My almost 3 year old is really good at entertaining herself because she has a lot of opportunities to practice being bored. She’s learned how to behave at restaurants and wait in lines without using a screen. The only time we utilize a tablet in public is when we’re in the car for longer than 30 minutes and even then she doesn’t use it the whole time she frequently takes breaks on her own to sing songs or point out stuff out the window
