To clarify I do think that goodnight moon is one of the funniest things pete wentz ever did. Imagine you try to star in this underground low budget indie film and it ends up looking so much like softcore porn that news agencies try to use it as your sex tape and then your acting also sucks insanely badly so you have to bury it forever

Me calling it a "murder plot" was an exaggeration however I think the FBI was only involved because this was connected to several murders and the extortion money was going to be used to bail someone out on homicide, which still does not make "murder plot" an accurate description, my bad lol

Also, Fall Out Boy may have also been involved in that the inciting incident may have occurred on their tour bus-- according to the FBI and court filings, a disagreement between this member of Mest and an employee from anonymous rock band from Chicago resulted in the beatings/extortion. This occurred on "Rock Band A's" tour bus.

According to Mest's touring history, this was Vans Warped Tour. By cross referencing all of the bands performing at Warped 05 with the fanwiki, the only notable bands from Chicago performing on that tour at the same time as Mest were Fall Out Boy and The Academy Is.

And according to Rolling Stone, members of FSU worked security for Fall Out Boy (and Panic), which is in line with the info about "Rock Band A" in the court doc

Pete was also friends with Tony Lovato of Mest at the time and it was speculated it was Tony Lovato because Tony Lovato had previously played in white power bands

Anyway I had always thought Hey Chris threatening to order a beating on Pete in his open letter was ridiculous grandstanding but I guess maybe not lol

I also thought my characterization of Pete Wentz as Quentin Tarantino movie-esque mafia leader is a massive exaggeration but upon reflection may only be a slight one

one of the other reasons it’s so hard to find someone to genuinely talk to about sa and or abuse is because people have stakes in your survival story and the way that you talk about and relate to it. they’re not interested in your actual journey; their investment extends only so far as what they can find politically useful in what happened to you. listeners who experience genuine curiosity and nonjudgmental empathy are possible to find but first you have to kill everybody who’s only there to project their agenda onto your experience.
