If CHNT was primarily a visual medium like a comic, or an animated show rather than a podcast, would the story at all change? Or just the presentation?
Since mealtime announcements obviously work in a podcast setting but might not for others. This is out of pure curiosity not like a 'Ohhhhh will chnt ever get a visual adaptation?' thing, I just think it's interesting since most of the supernatural fiction podcasts present it as an auditory in-world medium like tapes, an in-universe podcast, etcetc
(taps my chin in thought) I think the announcements would still stay to some extent, because there is narrative importance that Sydney cling to them as a job which gives him value and utility, but that there would be more liberty to add scenes as they play out instead of via post-mortem analysis. More filler, like him acting as a nurse, or more lingering shots of how characters regard eachother.
I am already trying to do this more in my recent writing. Sydney walks around a little more, and always records his thoughts, or records complicated altercations with others so he doesn't get too gaslit. That was already setup pretty well as a character trait, so a transition to him interacting with others in real time more often feels fairly smooth. I feel it will all around make for a more enjoyable experience from an imagination perspective. But no matter what, Sydney's live interactions with others will always be kneecapped somewhat by budget restraints.
Thank you for the interesting ask!
