my little unstable ghost gays

I don't typically talk much about the oc lore for my silly people on here just because I don't really think people would care/the oc lore is a rabbit hole that digs through the entirety of the earth therefore hard to explain, but these folk are from a different story than the guys I usually post about. They're apart of a council for the world of the dead, and lets just say the council is quite unstable

but yeah, Hibiki (he/him) on the left, Yrjö (he/him) in the middle and Taro (they/them) on the right

also nobody is probably gonna notice this and proceed to make this connection but I'm addressing it anyway and its the fact that Hibiki has a Japanese name but his earrings are Chinese- which Hibiki is Chinese but there is a whole complicated lore plot point behind his name that's really convoluted and important to the story but that's a story for another day

I've been experimenting with color lately. I love doing monochromatic stuff but I also love art that keeps a minimal color palette but I also love art that is bright and colorful and crazy so I just try a little bit of everything

also it is bothering me how insanely ugly my watermarks are but its ok I'll survive

I like the idea of doing commissions (sonas, ocs, portraits) but I don't really know if anybody would care for them so I'm doing a survey of my audience here, please be truthful it will not hurt my feelings

Also I don't really know how I would go about pricing things and xyz but since I am a traditional artist and I'm using up materials and such it would probably be a starting price of between 30-40 dollars

(also once the poll is over I will delete this because I'm just very particular about how I keep this blog)

Idk if he really has a name, I think one time I said I'd name him Augustus and honestly I'm chill with that

I typically draw him in what I consider my "graffiti style" (bottom photo) which is just quick lines that are really sharp, he makes for the perfect doodle guy! He's all over my notebooks, schoolwork, homework, sketchbooks, anything I can draw on really.

Sometimes he looks kinda different but the staples are spiky hair coming out of his hat, baggy jeans, hightops, either a beanie or a ball cap, a necklace, and a shit ton of ear piercings

but yeah! I draw him all the time. Super simple and very fun :D

his name is Petrov, and while I don't like to pick favorites, between you and me it's probably him (he's literally my pfp so if that doesn't say a lot...idk what does)

he has been the subject of manymanymanyMANY paintings ive done (which I haven't posted a lot of them on here but just trust me on that) and he has probably existed for like four years now? so not my oldest oc by any means

Also I have different favorites depending on my universes too. I have 7 OC worlds/stories and I tend to choose a new one to hyperfixate on for a year then switch it up (not consciously, it just happens) like I think my hyper fixation for this year might be my ghost gang. But if I had to pick a favorite over all of my OC worlds it's definitely my little felon Petrov :]

I recently realized I didn't have anon asks on so I fixed that, because personally I only ever submit asks if I can do them anonymously because otherwise it makes me really anxious :''3 so yeah!

I mean in my universe logic, you have two choices when you die- live in the ghost world as a ghost or go on to your next life. You’re allowed to leave the ghost world whenever you want or you can stay for eternity! And the people don’t really have any duties- everything is basically just manifested as needed lol

So to answer your question simply, Hibiki became a ghost by dying. He is very secretive about his death (sigh because more fucking lore... the rabbit hole runs deep)

I know you didn’t ask about the council but since I’m here yapping anyways I might as well explain- there are ten council slots and being chosen for the council is random. You can opt out of being a council member but if you say yes you’re stuck as a council member until you decide to move to your next life. If that happens, the council member is replaced with someone random who just died. 

Hibiki is the oldest current council member and also the leader (he isn’t very good at his job though, too busy being a menace)(also he’s 142 if you’re curious) but the body you die in doesn’t really age, you mentally grow but not physically (which is a plot hole I’m working on rn because what if you die when you’re like…two….get back to me on that one) but yeah!!!!! Hibiki is a 163cm (5'5") menace with a comically oversized scythe

ok so hi as per usual I have a whole info dump to dump bc when do I not

Lately I've been doing a bunch of art stuff out of my comfort zone. Sewing, 3D art, oil painting, etc... and I've honestly felt like I've forgotten how to draw...not like... actually but like where you pick up a pen and you feel like you've forgotten what you're doing. Sometimes I just sit down to sketch and I just can't. I feel like everything has to be in a specific journal or done a specific way (because wow my brain loves being particular!) and I can't just sit and make something without thought

So to prevent that, I decided to draw some cool Tumblr OCs because that way I can't be particular about it since idk all the lore and xyz

these were all done with a pen so if I messed up stuff then yk, oopsie daisy :') but that's the fun of sketching I suppose (also If you couldn't tell I hate drawing hair- I just scribbled that shit real fast and called it a day (yet in my finished artworks I always get so many compliments on my ability to do hair? Strange how that works))

Ok this next part of the post is mainly just for myself but I'm including it in this post because this is kinda just me shooting the shit on main, so don't feel obligated to read this but if u stick around to see then here is the context:

I have very very bad anxiety and this Tumblr account has been absolutely no exception. I can't quite figure out why but posting on this account makes me feel...sick? That's not quite how I would put it but words are hard...anyways, moral of the story I get really bad anxiety from posting on here and there have been so many finished pieces and shit that I've wanted to put on here that I just never did because the anxiety got the best of me. To maybe (?) prevent that (science experiment(brain experiment?)) I've decided to post a WIP so maybe I'll actually post the finished thing whenever the hell I finish it (I have so many projects going on at once I can't even count)

lord oh lord I was going to do a whole thing for 农历新年 and then I got sick and couldn't do anything about that. then I was working on a piece and decided "oh I'll do a Tumblr doodle dump" then hated how the piece was coming along so I stopped half way through. I've also been working on a BUNCH of oc doodles lately and I was like oh I can post those but I thought maybe that would be boring. Currently I'm working on a bunch of bigger more convoluted projects so I was like "next time I post to Tumblr it will be who knows when" and yeah so that's how we're here

Like most posts on this blog, this is my beloved oc and its just a doodle I did at a friends house that I really liked so I figured I'd put it here while I'm going crazy irl

also for some reason my watermarks got fucked up but alas idc enough to try and fix them

sorry for the rant but just explaining my absence 💀 A lot of art blogs I follow here just post random stuff like little doodles or little updates but my brain just doesn't function like that. If I post on here I feel it has to be something of substance 😭

hello tumblr how are we doing

I have quite the yap about this piece...

went to my local art store and was gifted three free watercolor paper samples from a brand called Magnani (I typically use arches, canson, strathmore) and they were also the three different types of watercolor paper. I never stray from cold-press... I tried hot press twice and didn't really like it. Meanwhile I'd never even heard of rough watercolor paper. So with the free paper I thought I would goof around and see what I could do!

With three pieces of paper I knew I had to do my favorite OC trio. To the left is the cold press paper, middle is hot press and right is rough press. I really surprised myself with the hot press because it ended up being my favorite piece out of the three! The rough press I thought I would like but I ended up not being that fond of it.

Anyways, my posting schedule is really sporadic on here so you may see me again in a week or two months idk but until then eat good food and take comfy naps ok bye
