Back from JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH!
I wasn't planning on catching this one originally, on the account that the premise didn't seem as exciting to me at first, even though I knew Jonathan Bailey was going to be in it, and there would be dinosaurs and it's Gareth Edwards and Jonathan Bailey was going to be in it.
But it's a public holiday here today, and I didn't quite know what else to do, and the JW Rebirth poster be looking kinda tempting all of a sudden, so I finally caved, and went to see it.
And much to my own surprise, I actually loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (And it also made me smile that this little kid sitting next to me started shouting out all the dinosaur names along with his parents and he got them all right -- for once, a kid shouting in the theatre that didn't annoy me -- and I just can't help but think that... the kids are gonna be alright~)
Now I'm not saying it's flawless by any means -- the starting felt a little clumsy in the setup in my opinion, and I have issues with a few of the characters' motivations, and there's also something to be said about how things 'appear' in the film -- but the characters and the action sequences are compelling enough to pull me along and hey, it's refreshing to have a paleo nerd front and centre in a JP/JW movie again for once, ever since JP3 (I'm fine with Owen and Claire, but I'd take Dr Henry Loomis any day -- and no it's not just his slutty little glasses).
Overall, absolutely enjoyed myself with this one, so much that I had to make these sketches of Henry Loomis and slutty little glasses~
