DEMO [Public] [Updated 07/12/2024] genres: romance, modern-fantasy, supernatural, mystery, dark-fantasy.

Sanguine Sky is a work-in-progress modern dark-fantasy interactive novel. The story is heavily focused on romance, characters, and relationships.

The story rated 18+, contains mature and distressing content that may be triggering to certain individuals. It is recommend to check the full list of warnings before you proceed to the story. Please exercise caution and take care of yourself.

Total word count: 197k words [excl. code] | 227k words [incl. code].

You are a detective, tasked with investigating mysterious murders that have taken place in your normally quiet and peaceful hometown, Fallenmor.

With two victims confirmed already, the initial one being your former mentor, Detective Bergmann, the situation couldn't seem more dire. Or so you thought until you received the news of another body, a possible third victim, discovered at the police station. In your very own office.

An accident, a mere coincidence, a straightforward warning, a looming threat, or something entirely else… Whatever is happening, you feel it affecting you, awakening something both significantly familiar and distinctly foreign inside of you.

If only you knew that this was just the beginning… Things could have been different.

But back then, in your ignorance, your singular concern lay with a pressing question: if you failed to find the murderer, who would become the next victim?

Play as male, female, non-binary or trans; straight, gay, or bisexual.

Customize your appearance and shape your personality.

Take on the role of a detective, immerse yourself in the work of the police station.

Embrace the mystery of your existence, or reject that inner sight of you.

Seven romance options to choose from. Select their gender, be assertive or reserved, or focus on your goal without pursuing anyone.

All ROs are player-sexual and gender-selectable [M/F].

Kyle / Keira Moreno

Your colleague, a police inspector, and one of the rudest people you have ever met. Sharp and stern, K is surprisingly perceptive, and they use it to really see you. The good, the bad. Everything. Appearance: icy blue eyes, dark red hair, very pale skin.

Alexis 'Lex / Lexie' Conlan

Your best friend, and also your former partner from times when you were just a patrol officer. With a heart of gold and an approachable attitude, L always chooses you over the others. Appearance: forest green eyes, copper hair, beige freckled skin.

Morgan Schoivell

Your other colleague, a highly-skilled lab technician. M is rather reserved when it comes to emotions, and after almost a year of working together, M is still a walking mystery for you. Appearance: dark brown eyes, ash blond hair, light skin.

Roderick / Rebecca Reyes

The commanding agent of the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) team sent to catch the killer. Overbearing and ruthless, R has their own way of getting things done. Appearance: gray eyes, blond hair, pale skin.

Theodore 'Theo' / Theresa 'Tess' Vazquez

Another member of the CID team. With a cocky smile, T is full of flirts and sneering comments, regardless of the occasion. T has no doubts about what they want and isn't afraid to vocalize it. Appearance: dark green eyes, black curly hair, rich brown skin.

Isaac / Iris Brailsford

I looks the most mature and approachable of CID's fellow agents. Looks can be deceiving, though. Working behind the scene and watching from afar, I carries all the scars within. Appearance: hazel eyes, dark brown hair, olive skin.

Sebastian / Selena Goldstein

Someone new and temporary, S has a velvety voice and a perfect smile that doesn't reach their eyes. You're not sure if your paths will cross in the future, but something tells you S can't be trusted. Appearance: black eyes, long black wavy hair, bronze skin.

Other notable characters:

Your twin-sister: Your sweet, kind, caring, and gentle twin sister. She always tries to be there for you, and show how much she appreciates you, no matter what. Chief of Police, Kendrick Nash: Your boss, who is not handling his job so well after the recent death of his husband, Klemens Bergmann. Detective Klemens Bergmann: Police chief's husband, who happened to be a senior detective and your mentor. He was the first victim, murdered under mysterious circumstances.

A full list of warnings is available in the demo before beginning of the story. I recommend to check it before you proceed to reading.

Thank you for your interest

CoGdemos Important Information

For all authors and readers, if you can't access the game using the link and see this message instead:

It's because CoGdemos has updated the URL format for all games.

The correct link format now is:

https:// cogdemos.ink/play/author/game-title/mygame

Previously, it was "https:// cogdemos.ink/play/author/game-title", without "mygame".

  • If you are the author: You'll need to update the links for your content, especially for content with closed access, since short URLs only work for public games.
  • If you are the reader: You can access the game by adding /mygame to the end of the URL if the author hasn't updated the links.

Please spread this information to other authors. I hope this will be helpful!

I know it's probably too soon to ask, but do you think you'd continue writing IFs after Sanguine Sky's finished? I genuinely love your writing so much and would love to see more.

That is one of the highest compliments an author can receive, so thank you for taking the time to write this to me! ❤️

As for your question, I think it's too early for it, since Sanguine Sky will require a lot of time and effort before I can bring it to its final form.

Since time and energy are valuable and finite resources that need to be managed carefully in order to accomplish this, I'm not planning anything new.

But after a year of continuous work, I can definitely say that:

  • All the complex elements of the story [from the plot to the different variations and dynamics] demand my full attention, so I want it to remain my sole focus until it's complete.
  • I want everything I write to feel dark and mature.
  • I don't enjoy the writing itself as much as I enjoy coding what I've written, so I definitely prefer working in an interactive format over a non-interactive one.
  • I've discovered that I really enjoy writing NSFW content, and I hope to include more of it in the story.

Thank you so much for your message!

hello! I do hope you’re doing well! I just wanted to pop in to say that I only recently discovered your IF and have been replaying like crazyyyy. it’s been so fun realizing I’m still noticing little details and going down paths I haven’t before. so overall thank you for this lovely piece of work so far and while I am definitely excited to learn more story absolutely take the rest you need to not burn out, alright that’s it ☺️👍

Hello! I'm so happy to know that you enjoy rereading the story!

I want to say that it means a lot to know someone considers it worth their time and even rereads it more than once, despite its flaws [all the grammatical mistakes make my skin crawl].

I hope I can continue to improve, thanks in no small part to everyone who reads my story, supports me, and sends helpful error reports [I truly believe my readers are the best].

Thank you so much for the kind words and such a positive message!

If I were to consider R as atypical, I would reason that: Trauma comes from the past, and finds its way into the present, sometimes by means of loose association. So, R's atypicality might stem from trauma as much as it might from an inherent quality. Hard to tell without guesswork by this juncture in time.

I know that:

  1. R needs full control of every and each scenario they operate in.
  2. R doesn't trust anyone but themselves when it comes to the strategy underlying every and each scenario they operate in.
  3. R trust their teammates enough to delegate tasks.
  4. Nothing from R's past is happening in the present, nor will it happen in the future.

Under conjectures, my first bet was that R swapped roles with a traumatizing authority figure, and was now projecting their past self upon their teammates as a way to find closure. A bet that serves as a recontextualizer for points 1, 2, and 3, while still leaving leeway for R's expression to be inherent.

Point 4, however, highlights the chance of more backgrounds for R being plausible. So, instead of modifying the bet to avoid contradiction with point 4, I would prod the opposite scenario, one where R's background shows as the opposite of their self-expression/ the possibility of them compartmentalizing the experience entirely/ the possibility of their expression being purely inherent/ the practical one: whatever happened can't happen again because it is outdated, or highly individualized and specific to the self.

I'll leave it to the rest, thanks your for the thought provoking answer!

All I can say is that your thoughts on R contain both very accurate statements about them and those that don't have a touch of their personality at all.

While I won't confirm or deny anything concrete, I want to say I'm particularly impressed with those the were pointed right, because it's very easy misunderstand R [and it's their fault, so it's fair].

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I love it when readers try to analyze the plot and the characters!

Hi idk if this is weird, possible TW just in case but as a SA survivor the last option of the detective not being able to remember the details of their trauma at the orphanage, just the whispers and phantom touches and the fear. Perhaps that wasn't your intention but I'd like to say that either way I find some comfort in it. Being able to feel seen, intentional or not.

Hello, thank you so much for sharing something so personal and vulnerable.

I know no words can truly make you feel better, but I'm deeply sorry for what you've been through, and for anything you're still carrying within you.

It's not weird at all, but I decided to put the full answer under a cut.

[Dev Log] April 2025

Hello, I hope your spring days are going well and that you're doing great!

As for my progress, here's a quick overview of my activity over the past month and my plans for the current one.

What was done last month?

▹ Chapter 3 Pt. 2: finished working on opening scene and K's scene.

The work is well underway, though I'm doing my best to catch up with the plan I originally set, as some of my health issues have slightly delayed my progress.

That's why I'm still working on finishing L's scene, which I was supposed to complete before the start of April.

However, I'm already planning to post sneak peeks of the finished scenes [including L's scene] on Patreon next week.

What will I be working on in April?

▹ Chapter 3 Pt. 2: outlining and coding the ROs' scenes [Morgan's, R's and I's scene] [after L's scene is done].

In addition to that, the bonus content on Patreon that will be released this month will include:

▹ Morgan's Short Story. ▹ L's POV [Chapter 3 Pt. 1].

Author's Note.

At the moment, almost all my energy is going into finishing the update, and I apologize for my slow responses to your asks and messages.

I've also received several extensive error reports that made me aware of many grammatical mistakes in the demo. However, I'm not fixing them right now because:

▹ I'm currently very busy with Chapter 3 Pt. 2. ▹ Uploading a quick fix would break your saves, as CoGdemos currently doesn't handle the upload of the files the same way DashingDon did [forcing the reader to start from the beginning of the game instead of from the specific scene that was updated].

Still, I want to once again say thank you to those who sent me the reports [you are the best!], and to say that I'm truly grateful all of you are reading the demo despite the most hilarious and embarrassing errors I've made.

Thank you for reading to the end! Wishing you a wonderful week and days after that! ♥

oh man if it's based on hidden stats/how I play I am going to get ALL the angst. Love it when there's followthrough for those choices because my detective is Not having a good time right now >:)

(Love your writing and the story, by the way, if that wasn't clear!!)

Thank you, I'm happy to know that you feel this way! Although I feel that I should apologize in advance for the emotional damage I intend to put certain types of the MCs through.

It's really important to me to ensure that readers can get what they're hoping for when they make certain choices, without being forced into a specific walkthrough.

It's proven to be a difficult goal to achieve, but I'll do my best to get as close to it as possible.

Anonymous asked:

It might be observed that R appears to be reenacting a former, if not still present, power structure, wherein their past self was operating within the constraints of, with their teammates occupying the place of their aforementioned past self.

If such is the case, then one might infer that R's trajectory is the one where they further ascend within aforesaid power structure and find closure, which whether by scarring or renewal might, or might not, extend the experience they seem so adamant in avoiding for themselves unto others.

So, perhaps, working the role of their past self can be seen as an act of charity, or unfairness, depending of whom is working the role and why. What are your thoughts about it?

My thoughts are that R is not the MC; otherwise, nothing that has happened in the past, is happening in the present, or will happen in the future would occur.

Still, I really like what you wrote [for a reason, hehe!], so thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Anonymous asked:

If possible, can you make the code for the patreon side stories public? I wanna see the different variations but don't want to replay too much 🥲 if not, it's alright!

I'm sorry, but I don't want to make the code for any of the side content I create public.

Thank you for the question, and I apologize to you and other readers who prefer to play with public code.

i just finished a first playthrough of this... awesome writing btw, intrigue 📈📈📈 n like i probably don't have any thoughts that haven't been said already but theo is so funny omg 😭😭 whats his problem

Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed interacting with T!

whats his problem

I actually hinted at the answer to why T acts the way they do in their Chapter 2 POV and alphabet, but I suppose I can spoil two lines from their POV…

Anonymous asked:

Will we have the opportunity to talk about having babies in the future with RO? Also, I would like to know RO's opinion on having babies before and after MC.

All I can say is that the reproduction of supernatural beings has its own lore, and it will be discussed in detail if the MC expresses a desire to know this information.

I also included more information on that subject in the Q&A section of the "Patreon Content Masterlist", since some of the choices presented in the side stories may raise certain questions about the consequences:

About pregnancy: All female ROs have canonically established reasons why they cannot just become pregnant.  This may include the use of birth control pills [which are also prescribed to regulate menstruation and have this effect (for human ROs, if there are any)], or having a specified reason integrated into the worldbuilding [for supernatural ROs].

Fun fact: I actually shared a few more details about this subject with only one reader who sent me their SS fanfic, as it unintentionally touched on a theme related to this topic.

That [just like the fanfic itself] made me really happy because I love it when readers can feel the story even before it fully unfolds.

Thank you for the question!

Demo Update (11/03/2025)

Weaving day is finally here!

So, some caveats before I go any further. Parts of Chapter 2 have been omitted because I still wasn't happy with their quality, and will be readded in the next couple of weeks. I wanted so badly to finish the entire chapter in this update, but that's not feasible. I didn't want to delay a second time, either.

However. Chapter 2 is, now, technically, able to be completed! You will need to be on the route that has Sam accompanying you to the Festival, and make a certain choice in-game that I won't spoil (the game will tell you if the route you're on is unfinished, so don't worry).

Some small changes to content in the prologue and Chapter 1 have come in this update, as I'm continually refining prose and dialogue. A few little UI improvements are present, too. Wow!

We (finally, I know) begin Chapter 3 in this update, starting off with an excursion with Archer. I wonder what waits for MC at home, now that they're ten years old? More of this to come soon, promise!

Once again, I'll let you play through the content of the update, rather than summarising it here. As always, if you come across any mistakes or bugs (as hard as I've worked to remove them, they're certain to still appear, unfortunately) please let me know ASAP!

The first few months of 2025 have been a bit rough, all things considered. I'll be striving to improve my output in March and beyond. Until then, though, happy reading!

Paging @interact-if for the first time, too! Very happy to hear that the page is active once more :)

Hello! First, I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying your story so far. It's been fun watching it develop and grow, and also getting to know all of the characters. Like, I was thinking about doing Morgan or Theo/Tess's routes first (for the angst! of Morgan's route and for Theo/Tess's third flirt option), but Isaac/Iris surprisingly wormed their way into my heart. I get the impression that Isaac/Iris is very passionate, despite not showing it too often (or never getting the opportunity to?). Idk how accurate that is, since I haven't read any of the short stories yet, but that's my impression so far lol.

Speaking of Isaac/Iris, I have a question about their tattoo - the story says it's on their left arm, going from the side of their neck to their fingers, but can you give a more detailed description of what it looks like (as long as it's not spoiler-y)? Does it depict something specific (like an animal, an object, a symbol) or is it a more abstract design (i.e. geometric patterns, swirls, etc.)?

Thanks! - Pink

Hello, Pink! If I remember correctly, you messaged me back when I had just started, so I'm happy to see that your interest in the story hasn't faded since then!

but Isaac/Iris surprisingly wormed their way into my heart. I get the impression that Isaac/Iris is very passionate, despite not showing it too often (or never getting the opportunity to?)

Since I just released their alphabet, I don't consider it a spoiler to confirm that you're not wrong.

I'm always happy when readers can feel the story or the character before they truly unfold!

I haven't read any of the short stories yet, but that's my impression so far lol.

I have Winter Special Collection that includes one short story for each of the ROs, so you can read at least one if you'd like to!

Speaking of Isaac/Iris, I have a question about their tattoo

I consider it a spoiler, so my response will be vague.
