Kaguya Ubuyashiki is Kagaya Ubuyashiki's only living sibling, 4 years younger than him; 19 years old and a hinoe.
Kagaya found out about her mother being pregnant just after his father committed. After Kaguya's birth, the house's atmosphere temporarily got lighter; however, as the four boys grew up, Senri, the second-oldest, started to curse both Kaguya as well as his elder brother since they behaved and looked so much alike.
Kaguya was five when his two brothers burnt the house and killed themselves as well as their mother who tried to save them. Senri had dragged him to the fire as well, but their mother managed to save the five year old before dying herself. Now the two brothers; the current head and the youngest brother, were left alone.
That night and the sound of burning wood, flames and everyone screaming still rings loud in Kaguya's nightmares.
Kagaya knew that this was the incident that would leave only one brother left; but his youngest sibling was still alive and he couldn't comprehend it. He started to worry: what happens now? How long will Kaguya live? how would he take care of him? Where would he have to live? What would he do in his life?
Kagaya prioritized Kaguya's safety first; he had a feel that Kaguya would survive and live up to adulthood. He decided to send him to the swordsmith village and left him to the care of the Amenomori family.
Away from his original family, Kaguya continued to teach himself to handle his problems on his own and satisfy his needs without asking for help, learning many skills and helping the family in times of need.
He also became friends with the family's swordsmith-in-training, Yumeto, and shaped a strong bond with him as they grew up.
As his older brother married at thirteen, the nine-year-old Kaguya started feeling distanced from his brother. He was busy commanding the corps and making a heir; Kaguya couldn't be the next heir so him staying alive seemed to have no use. He didn't know what to do, and he didn't have the talent to become a swordsmith either.
Despite his calm nature, Kaguya's a very adventurous person and, as a kid, he enjoyed investigating the woods surrounding the village with Yumeto. One year after his brother's marriage, when he was around ten years old, he and Yumeto got lost in the woods near sunset. Knowing how worried everyone would be, the two boys kept on pacing around the forest to find a way out, only to get further lost.
And somehow, they was attacked by a demon who lived there, so near to the village.
Kaguya usually carried a pack of wisteria with him, but this one time he'd lost it. The kids were perfect preys.
For one moment, Kaguya thought maybe his generation wasn't an exception and there will always be only one ubuyashiki son left.
Still, he remembered his brother's words in the first letter he'd sent him after his leave.
"Ubuyashikis must cling onto life until the angel of death comes for them himself. Don't let anything kill you that easily now that you've survived, but also don't resist without reason when death comes for you."
Yumeto's father had made Kaguya and his son a small dagger out of nichirin steel, just in case of self-defense. He pulled it out and managed to behead the apparently newly-transformed demon before receiving any serious injuries from it.
Then and there, he noticed the reason why he was still alive. He always assumed he was physically weak but he managed to behead a demon and protect someone, barely at ten!
The overjoyed Yumeto who was aware of Kaguya's insecurities, told him there that maybe he were to become a slayer, and defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and his apprentices under his older brother's commands. This way, He could be of use for his brother and everyone around him.
The news of him beheading a demon reached the swordsmiths and, eventually, Kagaya and his family, surprising and also incredible. When they were brought back to the village he kept on getting showered by praises and encouragements.
However Kaguya had already rejoiced, and now, he just wanted to get stronger. He knew his role now, and he wanted to fulfill it as good as possible.
He'd heard of Yoriichi type 0, so with Yumeto's help, he set it up for himself and started training in secret, without informing anyone (except for the family who took care of Yoriichi type 0).
It still took him way longer than a usual slayer-in-training since no one directly instructed him and there was a huge possibility of him getting caught, but he rathered the slow and steady way more anyway. Plus, to achieve his goals, he didn't seem to have any other choice.
Now all that was left was to learn a breathing style; however, with his weak body, Kaguya doubted if he could ever master any of them. He continued training, however was losing hope since he didn't know who to go to and if any breathing style even suited his physique and skills.
However Yumeto had an idea: Why not come up with a breathing style on their own?
So they continued training vigorously with Kaguya using total concentration breathing day and night, And Yumeto watching over him while also working hard to become a swordsmith.
And finally, after three years of tenacious training of stamina, strength, agility and flexibility with Yoriichi type 0, Kaguya created a breathing style that suited his body; breath of glass — he named it like that since it's a breathing style suited for people with weak physique, those frail bodies who can break easily and rather rely on moves and slashes that require the least amount of motion.
When he was fourteen, he was finally able to go back to the Ubuyashiki estate, leaving Yumeto and everyone else and starting a new journey — getting ready to attend the final selection!
Facts / Taisho secrets:
- He spent six years training in total, and participated in the final selection at 16, with his only weapon being the same dagger mentioned earlier.
- He was disguised as a girl since his arrival to the swordsmith village until the final selection, and only had a masculine makeover after the selection was over.
- Only The Ubuyashiki and Amenomori family knew about his true gender identity.
- Even so, Kiriya and his sister, Kaguya's nephew and niece, were surprised to see their uncle (aunt? XD) there.
- Kagaya himself was also surprised when Yumeto, who was now a skilled sowrdsmith, arrived at the estate with Kaguya's sword.
- His sword is a light variant of wisteria purple, and his guard is inspired by a wisteria petal.
- At first, he thought of just using wisteria poison instead of breathing, but then he remembered that even the strongest of poisons might not work on some demons.
- He still helps Shinobu in examining her poisons.
- He was traumatized by the night his brothers died, and so now he's terribly afraid of explosions/fires.
- He has a giant burn mark covering his left hip all the way to the right side of his chest, result of that night.
- when the ubuyashiki mansion exploded, he was around — closer than anyone else — but couldn't move for a long time because of flashbacks. He attacked Muzan in tears while attempting to use glass breathing's last form right then and there.
- For a while after Senri, Akito and the mother's death, Kaguya thought of trying to join them by also committing, however his brother pulled him out of it.
Kimetsu Academy AU:
- He's a high school third year student, best at math, biology and chemistry.
- He's restricted from doing heavy exercises in P.E due to his body, however only a handful of the students know about it.
- (he isn't skinny or frail-looking; from the outside, it's seems like he's a normal adolescent. Pretty much the opposite of Mitsuri).
- ^ Most students think that Giyuu (+ the other teahcers) have a bias and take easy on him because Kaguya's the director's brother.
- He's in the pharmacology club and wants to go to a medical university.
He's open for shipping in both aus !!
