maybe it’s mean of me but i’m enjoying reading accomplished academics dunk on these entitled assholes… like on the one hand, yes they’re young so i feel bad in that regard but i for one would never ever even think about publicly posting the personal statement i submitted to colleges 😭 it can never see the light of day. plenty of good schools are still accepting these kids but they think they’re too good for them which is what i have the biggest issue with
i think it’s really common to learn that you’re not as exceptional as you thought you were once you get to college and realize that everyone (or most people) have put in the same amount of effort and hard work to get there but they’re experiencing it on a much larger scale, arguably because they believed their exceptionalism to be that much greater
it’s good to curb hubris early. hopefully their egos aren’t too bruised and they’ll still be successful and ambitious young adults
