But when it’s fiction, when no real people are being hurt or killed, it’s interesting to explore the experience, the effects it may have, and to an extent experience the emotions involved without actually having to experience the horrible thing. You explore scary, dangerous things from a safe distance.

No one knows Taperats gender- as a result everyone uses all pronouns for Taperat

Taperat is called Taperat because daRl couldn’t decide between Tapeworm and Rat

Taperat enjoys sitting on people’s shoulders, stealing everyone’s food, sleeping on daRl’s face, booping people, screaming, stealing butter, eating stolen butter, hiding stolen butter under daRl’s bed, biting people’s hair, chasing people, jumping into the bath without checking for water, opening doors, destroying plushies, destroying paper, causing chaos

Taperat does not enjoy: water, daRl’s younger brother nobu, closed doors, closed cabinets, curtains, dresses, shoes, pineapple, sour foods, loud noises (except for Taperats loud noises), trashcans

Taperat has no fur so daRl makes taperat tiny clothes for the winter

The only thing OC should be used for in my opinion is pure self indulgence, make them exactly what you like

1880s men? Inhuman? Parasites? Freaks? Do they have a voice that goes completely against appearance? Are they either really big or really small? Are they actually just bugs but they look like humans and it's never explained? Do you have very not human looking characters that are referred to as human and never acknowledged to not be human? Do they have a harem? Are they super over powered and have all the trauma possible? Are they actually multiple people? Do they like crochet? Taxidermy? Bug pinning? Are there cannibalistic tendencies? Are they just your favorite character but you made them into an OC?

Don't try to make OCs not cringe, they don't need to appeal to anyone other than the intended audience of yourself
