Something We Need to Say
flying high, soaring wide
taken to blue, blue sky
on an imaginary . . .
magic carpet ride
I am . . . traveling light
traversing stars come nighttime
left behind my former scars
tonight . . . I'm headed beyond mars
. . . onto saturn and jupiter
playing my song . . .
a poet-pilot, turned troubadour
living for love, giving my love
sharing poetry, sharing passion
traversing the universe
doing what dreamers . . .
dream of doing . . .
following every byway . . .
until I fulfill carving a trail my way
fiercly . . . brightly . . . blazing
look out world . . .
we've all got something we need to say
and we're here to stay
prepared to take on the sky
rising . . . flying . . . riding
way up . . . on high

i.
dancing on the edge of tomorrow, tonight is a slip of dark; the stars thinly sliced on your blade between my ribs,
undone and shattered in the sea, holy and endless,
we fade into mist.
ii.
There’s only sun, a horizon of fearless dawns. There’s only warmth in these lullabies
we murmur in goodbye, There’s only this;
rust on our tongues.
iii.
eons over,
This is a flight of birds carrying the softness we couldn’t,
ten million years of earth, starlight on
feathers.
