To people who cry about Lady's character development being flushed at the end of Season 1.
Keep in mind that she is basically a trained and disciplined soldier. Soldiers have a duty to follow orders, even if they don't like it.
Now, please, take a good look at Lady's face when she fulfills her duty. Does this look like a person who didn't grow throughout the season? The person who didn't become fond of Dante? Thought so.
She clearly doesn't like what she has to do out of duty. But I'm pretty sure that when Season 2 comes, she will turn on Darkcom completely and team-up with Dante. She will rescue her sleeping beauty boyfriend.

THOUGHTS ON NETFLIX'S DEVIL MAY CRY
Honestly, its an interesting adaptation. However, since I've been a big fan of the games since DMC3, I don't agree on everything about the new anime
But its an adaptation and its good in its own right so I rather enjoy what we have. The animation and songs are awesome and while I dont entirely enjoy how some of the characters are like compared to their game counterparts (I dont really like Netflix's Mary tbh but I do look forward to how she'll grow), I did enjoy watching it and hope that there'll be a Season 2 one day
Anyways, the anime made me wanna write my own version to how DMC could be. Tbh, I feel like there's a lot of wasted potential on how Mary is the descendant of the priestess yet her gameplay leaned more on guns as weapons. I rather like the idea that she could have priestess powers so I'd wanna write that in my own version of Lady
Also, Dante and Lady had a lot of tension and chemistry in DMC3 but it didn't go anywhere so to see some hints that the anime might want to ship them makes me wanna explore the possibility of it ngl
So yeah, those are my thoughts

Well, the new one is an alternate universe who mixes elements from all the DMC games/media, so if you're not into AUs you probably won't like it at all, but personally I had a lot of fun watching it and I'm very happy it's getting a second season 🥰

Okay finally got to watch all of the DMC Netflix. A good show had its flaws but its clearly setting up a lot of things. I saw the discourse so I was kind of afraid but seeing it yeah a lot of the discourse is people not paying attention to what the show tells us. And people dont get Mary isnt Lady yet and she is being stupid for good reasons that make sense from her POV. Cant wait for next season and yes double thumbs up.
omg it's so good to read you watched it with an open mind despite of the discourse. It's definitely not the best show out there but I believe it has good potential and we would be missing out if we don't get to see what happens next just because purist fans don't like AUs. And I'm glad you understood that Mary isn't Lady yet, she even tells Dante "my name's Mary, though" by the end, making it extra clear to us viewers that we still have to see her character develop until she becomes more like the Lady we all know and love (but people insist on comparing her to dmc3 Lady... it's so tiring to see lmao) So I'm very happy you had a good time watching it and gave it double thumbs up!! 😆💕

I have one more episode left that I will watch after work today, but I have one thing to say so far - Netflix understands Devil May Cry miles better than Ninja Theory.
This new Rabbit villain turned out to be quite amazing and complex, with a very interesting motivation that you can relate with. They also made Demon Realm not so black and white, it gained depth that I hope video games will inherit.
