sometimes i need to remind myself that i'm writing fanfiction for free and i'm allowed to have a shitty sentence or two

so many of my fics have remained buried in my drafts because i wrote the cool scenes first and then didn’t have “connective tissue”. but i’m freeing myself from that and just adding shitty “and then a week passed” or “they got to their destination” connections and just posting them and it’s so! freeing! try it!

I can't tell you how many times I've agonized over a scene transition, only to fill in the missing space with, like, a sentence.

Write the parts you wanna write and then go in and slap scotch tape over the rest of it.

Sometimes when I’m feeling self conscious I’ll go and pull a book off my shelf to see how whichever author handled time transitions, and it’s really REALLY common that it’s just, like, “October came and went.” And that’s SO freeing. Just fast forward. Just do it.

as a pharmacy technician i can share with you some websites that give you those "coupons" for your meds!

goodrx is the most well known one, but if i'm trying to find the cheapest price for a patient i compare it to scriptcycle, and use whichever is offering the best price. you just type in the medication (PLEASE make sure you're getting the right drug, dosage, and quantity) and your zip code and they will spit out some offers for you

some pharmacies may have their own discount card to compare to as well!

if you are getting a name brand medication, you can also look at the manufacturer's website to see if they offer any evouchers for you to use too

Angel Q who (like most people in the dsmp) just became an angel and he has no idea how to do this shit and he can't let people know this happen to him, Wilbur knowing is already hell, but he wants to peel out his skin because it all feels off and he doesn't know how to fix it-

He gets desperate enough to send a message to Dream. The guy has been messing with the arcane, surely he knows something about this right? Or at least where to start researching

The two off them awkwardly standing watching the horizon from the needle until Dream snaps to "Quackity, tone it down, I have a migrane" in a tone that makes something in Quackity perk up and listen, loosening and lessening in a way he didn't even know he could do

Dream pinching his eyes shut and only opening after he can't feel the tingling from Quackity's halo or the ghostly noise of coins sliding together, seeing his halo and eyes thankfully dimmer... along with the whole penthouse, Quackity's eyes wide and locked on him, like a cat seeing a treat and Dream knows that look of a starved angel

All he can do is sigh and get prepared for a long night

having a decent following on twitter for a little while totally fucked up my perception of my art and for a while i really did conflate likes and retweets/reblogs with the inherent "goodness" of my art and so when everything blew up and i would get like 5 retweets i was like yeahh its over for me but i have to say . downsizing to a smaller fandom and ditching twitter completely is so nice cause if i get like 20 reblogs its like EVERYONE IS HERE ! ! ! ! and even if i got no notes on anything that wouldnt mean my art was bad or unworthy of making u know . social media just totally rots our brains and makes us into people we werent before i think. i originally started posting when i was a kid because i was making the art anyways and i thought id share it with people who like the same things. you think i was drawing undertale characters with office pens and loose printer paper for attention? that shit was for the love of the craft. remember ur roots.

So true. It’s so easy to get caught in that mindset. One thing I try to remind myself is that in real life I’m stoked for just 1 person to like what I made or said, 5 is like a whole friend group squad appreciating what I shared, 10, 20 30, that’s like a whole room full of people who enjoyed what I did or took the time to read what I wrote and that’s pretty cool. When I posted my first fanfic I told myself that even if I just got 1 kudo it was still worth posting because that’s one person who also got to share the enjoyment I had while making it. :)

tbh I really dislike how aphobia tends to be discussed whenever there's some kind of incident that makes it visible to general society. The most common response seems to be some variation of "why would anyone hate asexual/aromantic people, they aren't even doing anything" and it just always sits wrong with me. It paints such a passive picture of our existence and feels like a comment influenced by the level of invisibility that aspec people have in society. Why would you be annoyed by someone who is practically invisible? Just go back to ignoring their existence, it's easy!

But despite the invisibility, aspec people are actually doing quite a lot of things that will piss off queerphobic, right-wing and religious people (and hell, even left-wing people). And the most obvious point is that we are actively not performing heterosexuality the way they want us to. People who's entire world view is "cis men and women should be in monogamous, heterosexual marriage and have (white) babies" are not going to lean back and say "oh but those asexuals and aromantics are fine". They will also hate our guts, and they will come up with all sorts of reasons, including insinuating we're all secretly into bestiality, or mentally ill, or not human, or attention seeking children. It's just plain old queerphobia, and like all queerphobia, there's no inherent logic to it which you can worm your way out of by "not doing anything".

And like, there's a lot more that aspec people do which people hate. Raising awareness about amatonormativity? People feel attacked, they hate it. Asexual people having sex? Or not having sex? People hate it! Aromantic people being in (seemingly) romantic relationships? People fucking hate it! Aromantic people having sex? Ohh people hate that!!

I guess the existence of aphobia can be confusing when you haven't spent much time thinking about asexuality and aromanticism, but in the end, these are identities that aren't heteronormative and they will be hit with the same or similar bigotry as any other queer identity. I just get tired of this response after seeing it recycled for 10 years without ever seeming to go any further.
