Soft Times ~ Kim Taehyung
You couldn’t help but smile as his figure emerged into the bedroom, with his favourite blanket draped around his body. He quickly threw himself down beside you, as you placed your thumb as a marker into your book, moving to make a bit of room for him.
Your eyes studied him closely as he made himself comfortable beside you, tucking his head gently against your side, moving the blanket across a little bit so it covered part of your body too.
Your free hand came down to brush through his light blonde hair, each lock was conditioned perfectly having just stepped out of the shower, the scent of his strawberry shampoo was a welcomed smell that quickly filled the room, following him wherever he went as it always did.
His body was tiny as he curled into your side, making use of the extra warmth he could find from you. Little murmurs of content came each time he moved, or each time he felt a bit more of your body press into his own.
You didn’t want to disturb him too much as he settled, sensing by the soft pout on his face that he hadn’t had the best of days, deciding to place your book on the nightstand for another day.
“Everything alright?” You whispered down to him, tucking the blanket so it sat underneath his chin. He could barely manage a murmur in response to you, taking a moment to close his eyes. You shuffled yourself further down the bed, so your head laid against the pillow, allowing yourself to get a better look at his expression, and see just how tired he really was.
Your hand rested against the softness of his cheek, brushing the pad of your thumb across his skin, pressing a delicate kiss to the tip of his nose. He giggled lightly at your touch, opening his eyes to see how close you were to him.
Underneath his blanket, his hand reached out for yours, intertwining his fingers in with your own, squeezing you gently. You chuckled as he looked away from your eyes, watching as a glisten of red covered his cheeks.
It had been a long time since the two of you found the time to just lay, without any disturbances. You lived such busy lives, your relationship often became neglected, but that never stopped the two of you making sure you made the most of the small times you got together.
You loved seeing this side of Taehyung, everyone knew he was a big softie at heart, but he’d only show his real vulnerable side around you, the side when he wanted no one else in the world but you.
He knew how often the world expected him to be V, how he had to smile and be happy, when all he really wanted was some piece and a cuddle. But when he was allowed to be Taehyung, that’s when he wanted you the most. When he’d want you to remind him that things were alright and help him to cut off everything else in the world.
“I like this,” you whispered across to him, “we don’t ever do this anymore.”
“I know,” he responded, bringing his face back across to look at you, feeling the blush on his cheeks disappear. “Everything’s always just a bit too chaotic, I miss being able to escape like this with you, it’s the best.”
You nodded, the escapism you found in Taehyung’s arms always helped you too. Whether he was with you, or thousands of miles away, he always made sure to make the time to be there for you and help you whenever you needed it.
“I wish that we could just lay here forever and completely forget about everything else in the world,” he lightly chuckled, “but I don’t think we’d be allowed.”
“Who would find us?” You joked, brushing your hand back through his fringe as it fell in front of his face again. “If we locked the door and turned off all the lights, no one would know that we were home.”
“Don’t tempt me, because I would.”
You chuckled, feeling his lips press against your forehead, moving his body up slightly to allow you the time to rest against him. His arm slowly snaked around your waist to close any remaining distance between you both, nuzzling against the side of your face.
Whilst he knew he’d been having a hard time; he also knew things weren’t always going well for you. You tended to keep a lot bottled up from him so that he didn’t have to worry about you, reminding him that he had enough just to take care of himself.
When you made your way up to bed earlier in the night to enjoy your book, he could tell that something was up, but he’d never push you into saying if you didn’t want to.
“Do you want to go to sleep?” He whispered down to you.
Your head shook, as you reacted by placing your arm over his waist, feeling softly against his toned muscles. He couldn’t help but shudder at your cold touch, feeling your palm spread to rest gently against his abs.
He frowned down at you, “I can tell that something’s on your mind, and I’m not going to push it, but I just wanted to remind you that tomorrow will be a better day, I promise you.”
You smiled up at his expression, trailing a long line of kisses against his well-defined jawline, taking his hand in your own.
“I’ve missed your cuddles,” you mused, as you rested back against him, “I didn’t realise quite how much I needed them until you laid here tonight. I guess we’ve just become so busy we’ve forgotten how much these moments matter.”
“Maybe we should change that,” he suggested, watching your head nod gently in agreement, “maybe we do need to find the time to make these moments matter more, they’re important to the both of us, together and as a couple.”
Everything he said was true, these were the times when the two of you could attach back to each other at the end of a long day and embrace the comfort of another person.
“Why don’t we agree on a day every week where we do nothing but cuddle and allow ourselves to talk through all our worries and concerns.”
“I like the sound of that idea.”
As your legs intertwined, the two of you agreed that you’d make the last day of the week your time to relax before starting back up again. That way, neither of you could ever forget about the importance of time for the two of you and finding the escapism you craved.
“Let’s promise to never forget about the small moments, when they’re the most important.”
“I wish that times like this could never end,” you whispered back to him, “these are the points where I wish that life had a pause button.”
He chuckled, brushing a hand through your hairline, “or, if we could rewind and just relive these moments again and again, that would be even better.”
Your laughter made him smile as the vibration shot through, “we won’t ever need to rewind, if we promise to just play them out on each chapter of our lives.”
“You’re right, let’s never forget them, and let life play.”
