A Threat to Your Health

I just think people write out of obligation too often.

"How do I motivate myself to write through the boring part of my story?"

"How do I make this boring scene not boring?"

Don't write it.

Don't write boring things just because you think the structure of the story demands it. I promise it doesn't need to be there.

If your characters need to have gone shopping for a later part of the story to make sense you can just have a sentence about how they went shopping and move on.

You are not obligated to write the boring parts. No matter what those parts are.

You are not obligated to make the parts of your story that you're not excited to write interesting somehow.

You can just write the fun and interesting parts and gloss over and summarize boring things.

Your audience will thank you and you will thank yourself.

Yeah, but how can I call myself a writer if I never write anything?

I mean I don't want to write anything.

But how am I a writer if I just stop writing

Pal I hate to break this to you but I think "not wanting to write anything" is probably the one thing that could actually make you not a writer.

Yeah fair...

I know...

I've written a lot and I have so many projects I've just abandoned for no real reasons

And I'm scared of losing the few projects I've got left... but I guess you can't be an artist without the passion

Idk what to call myself now... a what-if I guess

Lol

I hope you can take some time and find that passion again, and dive into something that grips you, whether that's writing or something else <3

Which vice-admirals do you think are the most interesting?

Aside from Smoker, Tashigi, Hina, and Rosinante, I hate every single marine in One Piece. Yes, this includes Koby.

The vice admiral who's the most *interesting* is Garp, because he's a piece of shit abuser who can cognitive dissonance his way into taking in a child he claims to care for and breaking down their self esteem and leaving them to be raised in the woods by bandits and literally standing by while they're executed in front of him, and still believing he upholds goodness and justice.

I actually don't think there's a character in One Piece that I hate more than him.

(In the future, these kinds of questions would probably be better aimed at @savage-sinister were I do most of my actual blogging now)

Fanfiction literally cannot "normalize" anything. Fanfiction is a weird little niche and fics are not something with massive cultural impact.

. . . Dipper Goes To Taco Bell?โ€”

What did it normalize?

What taboo or controversial idea that was portrayed in Dipper Goes to Taco Bell is now considered normal and healthy by society that wasn't before?

Ah, nothing mate, I was just joking around and forgot the /j tag.

My bad entirely. I agree with you completely as someone who worships Ao3 and writes fanfic 24/7 (working on it as we speak) and thank you for making the post to begin with. โ™ฅ๏ธŽ

Pal. Pal I am so relieved to hear you say this was a joke, thank you, you made my night XD

Oh, no worries, mate. I honestly didn't think people have a stick that far up there rears that this wasn't like??? Common knowledge that reading fanfic wasn't gonna alter your entire existence and inspire people to start world war three or normalize cannibalism??? I thought that was TikTok non sense ToT

Sorry if I make no sense, I am sleep deprived from. Writing Batman fanfiction... Again.

Summary: I agree with you OP and am so so so so so so so so sorry for the misunderstanding โค๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™

I wish it was common knowledge! I'd have so many fewer arguments on my posts! TYSM and get some rest-- after you finish your batman fic!

"Dipper Goes to Taco Bell is a force of cultural normalization."

You people don't even know what words mean, do you? you'll just say anything.

ETA: they were joking! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Hi,how are yiu doing? Please,do you make fanfic requests? If yes: for what fandoms do you write? What you do or do not write? Thanks!

Brother, I'm an unhinged rarepair writing motherfucker who writes fanfiction in manic spurts of 500k over a span of 6 months in order to pay tribute to the insane visions in my head that tell me I was an anime character in a past life.

I don't take requests. Thank you for your interest.

Going to Taco Bell is what it normalized obviously, lmao.

*cough cough* Divine Comedy

Oh and this image of Lucifer was created BY ANOTHER FAN FICTION! A little thing called Paradise Lost!

Shakespeareโ€™s histories and a few of his tragedies are in fact FANFICTION!

Antony and Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, and The scottish play to name a few๏ฟผ

None of that is normalizing things that were considered controversial or taboo before the introduction of the work.

Uh Paradise Lost does. It made the king of Hell HOT!

Oh and Danteโ€™s Inferno put several popes in hell too.

The Divine Comedy is literally the foundation to what will become The protestant reformation!

Also you want to even dig deeper THE BIBLE IS A FAN WORK! Jesus didnโ€™t write it!

Fanfiction has been around since the first very beginning of literature. Back then it was just called FICTION! We only have a name for it now because of the fan magazines that started to pop up around the time of radio and television.

AND THOSE ARENโ€™T EVEN ORIGINAL!

Since the concept of the printing press, stories about Robin Hood in example have been printed on mass.

Hell LANCELOT IS AN OC!

You're really stupid.

Jesus Christ, do you people just see a trigger word and immediately start running a script?

I feel like, if you applied this to any other religious book, it would be obviously a hate crime. "The Torah is fanfiction" "Tao Te Ching is fanfiction" "The Quran is fanfiction" "The Adi Granth is fanfiction (or would it be like... fansongs?)" "The Rig Vida is fanfiction", like do these things sound okay and normal or do they sound like, idk, belittling the religious texts of others?

Anyway. Fanfiction and fanworks aren't the same thing and while we're at it the average person doesnt even know what fanfics are, they're not mainstream at all. Fandom is a minority of fanbase which is a minority compared to the casual consumer. It's bizarre to claim things like "well Shakespeare was writing fanplays and that influenced history" because that's not what fanfiction is on par with. It's a false equivalent and still a better example than your... Christianity focused microclimate here. Christianity is by no means the main, largest, or most socially prevalent religion, it's just one you see often in the cultural zeitgeist of certain countries. It's not even a thing in others. I don't know what you were trying to prove here.
