Welcome To thestarjournal!

Welcome to thestarjournal!

I’m star (not real name for safety reasons) I am Palestinian and Dominican. I come from an immigrant family on both sides and I’m also a Minor :)

This is a space dedicated to raising awareness, sharing information, and amplifying the voices of those fighting for change. Our goal is to educate, inform, and inspire action on political protests and social justice movements happening around the world.

What You'll Find Here:

  • In-Depth Analysis: Thoughtful breakdowns of key political protests, movements, and events, including their historical context and goals.
  • Updates: News, firsthand accounts, and live reporting from ongoing protests and actions.
  • Profiles & Interviews: Spotlight on activists, leaders, and organizations making waves in the fight for justice and equality.
  • Resources for Action: Information on how to get involved, from petitions and donations to attending protests and community organizing.
  • Educational Content: Articles, videos, and infographics that help you understand the complexities of political protests and the issues at their core.

Why It Matters:

In a world where the fight for justice, equality, and human rights is more urgent than ever, staying informed is crucial. Protests shape the future, but they need support, awareness, and action to succeed. This blog is here to ensure that the conversations we need to have about these issues continue to grow louder and more impactful.

Submissions are open! For:

Firsthand Accounts & Personal Stories

I want to see what you are seeing, sadly because of my current situation I can not go to many protests and such but send me what you are seeing; if you're in one action send me videos, photos, and live updates.

News & Updates on Ongoing Protests

I’m not going to be able to catch everything, I'm not always going to be well informed, send me things that are happening so I can write about it and reblog it and share it and spread the word.

Activist Spotlights & Interviews

If you know an activist or a community leader who’s doing incredible work in the protest and justice space, submit a profile or interview! Sharing these stories will help amplify their voices.

Research & Educational Articles

Share well-researched articles, essays, or resources that explain the political issues behind protests, such as systemic inequality, labor rights, or environmental justice. Help others gain a deeper understanding of the topics that drive collective action.

Art, Graphics, & Visual Media

If you’ve created or found art (posters, photography, digital art, etc.) that speaks to current protests, submit it here to help visually communicate the urgency and power of these movements.

Petitions, Calls to Action, and Ways to Get Involved

Have you come across petitions, donation drives, or campaigns for justice that you want to share? This is the place to submit those so the community can take action and help bring about change.

Relevant Resources

If you have access to resources like guides for safe protesting, mental health support for activists, or legal advice, please share them. These resources are critical for those engaging in protest movements.

Former New York city mayor Michael Bloomberg is joining with other US climate organizations to fund the United States entire 21% contribution to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This will allow the organization to remain fully functional in the wake of Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. This contribution will continue at least until the United States is able to rejoin the Paris Agreement.

I dislike the existence of billionaires as much as the next person, but it is refreshing to see one of them actually using their money to do a net good for the planet.

This is incredible, actually?

What's the point of being a billionaire if you don't do some Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark level philanthropy?

There should not be billionaires, but like, this one is at last doing something worthwhile.

A Call for Compassion and Action

LGBTQ refugees and asylum-seekers in South Sudan face unique and urgent challenges, including discrimination, violence, and exclusion from essential services. Forced to flee their homes due to persecution, they are often marginalized even within displaced communities or Camps, leaving them vulnerable and without access to basic necessities such as shelter, healthcare, food and protection.

We call on humanitarian organizations, governments, and local stakeholders to prioritize LGBTQ refugees and asylum-seekers in their aid programs. This includes creating safe spaces, providing targeted support, and ensuring access to inclusive healthcare, Education and mental health services.

Every person, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves dignity, safety, protection and a chance to rebuild their lives. Together, we must stand in solidarity with LGBTQ refugees and asylum-seekers in South Sudan and work toward a future where their human rights are protected.

It’s time to act.

Compassion knows no borders.

Hello, my name is Mohammed from the northern Gaza StripπŸ™πŸ‰. I have a water truck to distribute clean water. Before the war, I used to donate twice a week to people and also different types of food. But now I need your donations to distribute water and food to the displaced people in the tents. As you know, since October 7, our lives have all been destroyed. I imagine seeing my family and children dying of hunger and thirst and I can't do anything for them. You are the reason for their happiness and the people's happiness with food and drink. I hope you donate to save them. No matter how small your donations are, they make a big difference in their lives. Thank you very much for your support and generosity β™₯οΈπŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ

Abood @abood-gaza2 and his wife NEED you to save them. Proof they are vetted here. It costs ~$8000 to evacuate to Egypt and that number is increasing all the time due to sick people trying to capitalise on misfortune and chaos.

"I studied accounting, graduated with a high average, and worked in a chain of clothing stores that my father owned. But due to the unjust aggression, all our shops were destroyed, and we lost our source of livelihood and work completely. I was displaced from my home more than 10 times, each time trying to find a safe place, but there really is no safety here. Here we live death, fear, and loss at every moment. We love life and we always have ambitions and dreams that we hope to achieve and we are determined to achieve them as well."

Please help this beautiful family who are currently living in tents and facing a harsh and dangerous winter coming up evacuate as soon as they can, and read their story. They're 1/4 of a way to their goal. Get them closer, every little bit counts.

Thank you very much for your kind passage and your good cooperation with us. ❀️

As of 22:45 GMT on 14 October 2024, Abood's vetted campaign is at $18,990 of its $40,000 goal, but he urgently needs donations to pay for his wife's medical treatments: She had a doctor's appointment on Friday and received prescriptions for six medicines that will cost about $25 USD each (about $150 USD total).

If you can donate to pay for even one or two of her prescriptions, it would make a big difference. Abood and his wife also need money for warm clothes, as it is getting into the colder rainier months in Gaza. (Note that Tumblr keeps deleting his account; the above is his new one.)

Note: this is a series I’m starting where I interview people currently in Gaza and I write their experiences. This my first real article and interview so please bare with me.

Meet Aisha Rabah. She’s 42, is married and has eight kids, Muhammad, Gham, Karam, Jana, Tariq, Adam, Zain, and the youngest is Rami, who is four months old. They are in a very difficult situation in Gaza. Before, her family was doing well; Her husband used to work in a butcher shop. Her daily routine used to be house work, teach her children, and she watched tv in the evening. During the war, the shop got bombed leaving her husband unemployed. Their home got bombed, leaving them without shelter. Her husband got sick. Her daughter, Nagham, who was 22 and her husband, Mahmoud, 28, were martyred; leaving their son who was born during the war, Sami, with her family.

Their condition has only worsened. β€œThere is no bread, there is bombing everywhere, even the β€˜safe’ places are being bombed. My children cry because they want to eat, but the food is very expensive and my husband doesn’t work. My little son cries every day, wanting an egg and meat, and I cry with him, feeling sad for him.” Mrs. Rabah told me.

Her children who should only be worrying about school and their dreams have to worry about the next time they’ll eat and if they will have shelter the next day. They just want to be able to live in Gaza in peace. β€œI don’t want to leave my country; Gaza is beautiful, I have no other country like it”, she said when asked if she wanted to leave Gaza.

Please donate to help her and her family survive. No one, especially children, deserve to go through this. If you can’t please reblog and share this.

Please help my family

My name is Aisha

I never imagined I would find myself in a situation that would require me to write these words, but life has taken an unexpected and devastating turn. My family, consisting of my beloved husband and our eight children, is facing a crisis that we cannot overcome alone. Our home, once filled with love and laughter, has been shattered. The roof over our heads, the walls that protected us, and the place where our children grew up are lost. We lost not only our home, but the foundations of our lives. Now, we struggle every day to survive, with nowhere to go or a way to rebuild without help.
Our children, who should be focused on school and their dreams, worry instead about where they will sleep or when their next meal will be. The weight of their fear and confusion breaks my heart. As parents, we feel helpless and unable to provide basic necessities for our loved ones.
We are urgently asking for help because we cannot do this alone. We need to rebuild not only our home, but our lives. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to providing our children with a safe place to sleep, food to eat, and a chance to dream again. Please, if you can find it in your heart to help us during this desperate time, we will be forever grateful to you. May your kindness and generosity be the light that guides us through this darkness.

Help them please

am Asmaa Abed from Gaza, 39 years oldπŸ’”πŸ‘€

The whole world witnessed the tragedy that struck our lives in Gaza, where my family and I survived many previous wars. But today we face the most dangerous and fiercest battle in the current war. We are in urgent need, as we have nothing left and are unable to secure our basic needs of food, water and safe shelter.πŸ˜πŸ’”

Here is our story - On October 7th, our lives changed forever, as my family and I were evacuated from southern Gaza to West Mawasi Khan Yunis, hoping to return soon, but it was not meant to happen. It was a new house I built before the war, it cost me a lot of money and I couldn't be happy with it. It was surrounded, burned, and then completely destroyed. Our home, once a bastion of hope, is now in ruins, a stark reminder of our shattered dreams.

The night before we left for Mawasi Khan Yunis al-Bahr was terrifying. The sounds of bombing were everywhere, making a loud noise that seemed to penetrate our souls. Each explosion shook the ground like an earthquake, sending waves of fear through our trembling bodies. It fills us with fear. The smell of destruction and blood wafted through the air, making it difficult to breathe. When dawn came, we saw the devastation all around usπŸ’˜πŸ’β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

asmaa's account and campaign were recently created, and have not yet been verified. i personally cannot vet/verify fundraisers, however i can say that i did not find any duplicates of the photos shared through reverse image search, and i am inclined to believe this campaign is legitimate.

$300/$20,000 has been raised as of august 28. please share and consider donating! if you can spare even $5, it adds up to make a difference, especially for a recently created campaign that needs help to build up momentum.

Now @asma-family2 (same gfm link).

This campaign is vetted by association through @mohiy-gaza2 (vet). Asmaa is his sister. Proof under cut.

Disclaimer: I am NOT an official vetter and I did NOT vet this. That was done by the aforementioned vetted Palestinian, I'm just the messenger. I personally believe this campaign is legitimate given the evidence and encourage you to share and donate if you feel comfortable.

β€œOh but the CEO had a family” thousands of people are getting killed in Palestine, don’t you think they have families. β€œBut but” SHUT THE FUCK UP you only care about the white, male cishet rich and powerful. We know your a capitalist so shut your fucking mouth you are fucking idiotic I will be backing Luigi up in court idgaf what he did was right β€œbut he killed a man” imagine how many lives that little CEO friend of yours killed by deny them healthcare, it being to pricey, deny people insurance or treatment, the expensive copays my family pays 45 dollars per visit and 60+ dollars if it’s a specialist. He was probably living just like Bashar al-Assad, taking all the money and caring less about you, cause he does not care about you, let me repeat, HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. He only cares about himself and his gain.

The fact that me a 14 year old freshman in high school can understand that and not you a grown ass adult says,a lot
