If nothing else, Shadow and Bone has finally confirmed for me once and for all that Leigh Bardugo making the crows all really young was absolutely the right move and completely in character for all of them, if only because they all give off that strong "wouldn't you like to know, weatherboy" I'll-fight-god-in-a-denny's-parking-lot energy that teenagers have, and it just doesn't make sense if they're older. Like, of course Kaz is going to pick fights with the most powerful people around him with full confidence that he'll win. He's 17 and full of rage, he has no fear of death or the consequences of his own actions, the only thing he can't do is talk to the girl he likes. If he does that at however old Freddy Carter is pretending to be, then he just looks stupid.

- A and B are from different royal families and are forced to wed even though they distain one another, however they both have the same plan to escape before the ceremony can take place, but now they are both stuck in the back of a runaway carriage
- A and B are rulers of the land, but they are bored with their duties, so they start to troll the other kingdoms in hopes of stirring things up
- A is the ruler of a kingdom and B is a thief, B breaks into the castle and they think everything is over when they see A walk into the room, but A helps them because A hates being the ruler and never liked ‘those jewels anyway’
- A and B have liked one another ever since they were young but now they are older, everything is different because A has to get married to another royal family, so naturally A and B ride off on a dragon into the sunset
- B is a peasant who sends A old fashioned memes in the mail, then A gets the guards to find B and bring them to the castle, and B thinks they are in trouble but really A only wants B to produce more old fashioned memes
