Jack on a three way call: How are things in Gotham!? Is everything going well with opening the new Fenton Work branch?

Jazz: Everything is going great, Dad. We think we should be open for business in a week or two.

Maddie: That's so exciting, sweetie! Thank you again for doing this for us.

Jazz: Hey, it's the family business. Of course, I'll help out, plus it gives Danny and I a place to stay while we're studying.

Maddie: How is Danny doing? I fell bad we made him move after only one year in Casper High.

Jazz: Danny is adjusting. He's got straight A's in class and the full ride to Gotham U, that the Martha Wayne Foundation offered him is a nice bonus. He's just a little upset that the only way to get it is to attend three years of high school within Gotham. He is really missing Sam and Tucker

Maddie: Has he made no friends in Gotham Academy?

Jazz: Well....there is that one kid, but he's more interested in being boyfriends instead of best friends.

Jack: How can you be so sure? I've known plenty of people who thought I was flirting with them but in reality I was just being friendly.

Jazz: He is outside our house serenading Danny. He hired a mariachi band and has a sign that reads, "Will you be my boyfriend Danny Fenton" in spanish

Maddie: Oh. How is Danny reacting?

Jazz: *Looks over at Danny*

Danny:

Jazz: He looks confused. I don't think he can read the sign.

Jack: *laughing* That's my boy! What's the poor unfortunate kid who's heart was stolen by Danny?

Jazz: Jason Todd.

Maddie: That name sounds familiar. Wasn't he the kid Phantom saved from the Joker in Ethiopia a year ago?

Jazz: Yeah, it was.

Jack: *Laughs harder*

Clearing up a misconception re: timeline of Jason’s growth spurt

It’s semi canon (I think?) that Jason was fairly short as a kid, and widely accepted fanon is that had it not been for the Lazarus pit, his max adult height would’ve been fairly short too, due to childhood malnutrition stunting his growth. Because of fandom telephone, some people heard “the Lazarus pit is the reason why Jason is tall” and assumed that he came out of the pit 6ft, and that’s not true

Here’s Jason in Red Hood Lost Days immediately after his dip in the pit, as we can see, he still looks fairly young and he’s still short. It’s been like 2-3 years since he initially crawled out of his grave so we can assume he grew a little bit, but he’s certainly not 6ft. Over the course of Lost Days, we start to see Jason look older/taller as time goes by, so we can assume his pre-Red Hood training arc also took place over a few years (my estimate is like 1-2 years). Here he is at different time points

Red Hood: The Lost Days # 2 (2010)

Red Hood: The Lost Days is a prequel covering Jason's life between waking up in his coffin and storming the Gotham underworld as the Red Hood. Winick takes the opportunity to establish Jason's sanity and willing transformation into a villain, while also planting the possibility of delayed-onset Lazarus Pit madness to explain Jason's volatile characterization under other writers after Under the Hood (2006).

(RHTLD also re-retcons Jason's natural hair color as black, after the 2009 Batman and Robin series briefly retconned him into a natural redhead.)

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)

In the 2010 movie adaptation of the 2005-2006 Under the Hood comic, Jason mocks the assumption he's acting under the influence of the Lazarus Pit. While there isn't a 100% unambiguous confirmation as to whether that's the case, the context seems to dismiss any outside influence on Jason's actions.

According to this 2009 interview with IGN, Tony Daniel wrote Battle for the Cowl (2009) with the premise that Jason's mind has been corrupted by the Lazarus Pit.

Jason is deeply disturbed and traumatized by his resurrection, but the Lazarus Pit itself doesn't seem to have tampered with his mind.

After retiring from being a hero, Danny moves to Gotham and opens a little mechanic workshop. He doesn't only fix cars though. Bring anything broken to him and he'll fix it. Upgrade it a bit as well if you're nice.

He's a good guy, much better than your average Joe on the street. But there was something about him that was just... unsettling about him. Maybe it was the way he smiled? It did look a bit weird when you stared at it for too long. Or was it because he was always happy? No one was ever always that happy. No one but...

Anyway, it didn't matter. When people came to him it was to get a job done and to leave. They didn't do much chatting which he didn't seem to mind, he was just happy to do his job. Always happy.

One day Danny closed up shop early. That was unusual. He was open pretty much 24/7. Some people were pretty sure he didn't even sleep. They watched as Danny walked. They noticed that Danny wasn't smiling. He wasn't happy... well fuck.

There's a new psychologist in Arkham Asylum, and apparently, she's very good at her job. Joker has already heard a lot about her. Like how she's tall, very tall. With fiery red hair that falls to her knees, and sparkling blue eyes that speak to your soul. She was a hot commodity around the Asylum. A very pretty doll that he just couldn't wait to break.

He knew that he didn't have to wait long. People like her were cocky. They get bored after figuring out a few crazies and decide that they need a bigger challenge. They think they need to break him.

They never do though. They all either quit the profession after a few weeks or fall into his trap. In the end, they all end back up here and become just like the people they were trying to help.

He couldn't wait to do it. To corrupt her mind and watch her spiral into a web of insanity of their making. What? You didn't think he did it by himself, did you? Both parties were willing participants, he spoke and they wanted to listen. It was an equal exchange. An exchange that never came.

He waited, for days and weeks. He waited for months, and there was no sign of the red-head that plagued his thoughts. He waited for almost a year... she wasn't coming to him, was she? It was a bit strange, insulting really. Was she not intrigued by him? Wasn't his case the least bit interesting? What if it was that... she found him... well... boring? The thought pissed him off a bit. That couldn't be the case, could it? Well, he wasn't going to know like this. She wouldn't come to him so he'd just had to go to her, didn't he?

It was quite easy to find out where she lived. She was with the Robin he killed. And wouldn't it be a cruel twist of fate if your girl were to die the same way you did? Who knows, maybe she'd come back wrong too?

This is so funny AND it has two of my favorite fandoms-

Barry got hit by lightning, Danny got hit with the equivalent. Barry was in a coma which is pretty much the closest a normal human can get to death without dying (then everything else that happened with their family. Bunch of weirdos.) and Danny is literally a half ghost.

The most important thing about this I can think of is that Danny either has a healing ability too or he would get some symptoms of the accident other than being a ghost. Barry doesn't have have symptoms because of his accelerated healing which kinda just worked through that for him and also gave him fast metabolism, but Danny doesn't really have that. Even in the fandom, usually its a one-half of his form supports and makes up for the other when it's injured until it's completely healed type thing, which he probably wouldn't have had in the start anyway

Sorry if I made any stupid mistakes, it's 3am and I'm half asleep. I'm being dumb in general right now. Maybe I'll just go to sleep now, that would be less dumb
