Hi my girlfriend passed away a couple years back and I’ve been meaning to write this for a bit.
Scenario: you’re grieving your lover comfort hcs (platonic but implied romantic feelings) (slight manga spoilers)
Yuji feels awful about it. Yuji is a selfless person, naturally. So while he felt sad you were dating someone else he never got in between you two, and wanted you to simply be happy. Seeing you go through this tears him up inside because while he doesn’t know what it’s like to lose a partner he knows what it’s like to lose friends, family. He never wants to see you go through something like that. He’s there with you every step of the way, he’ll go to every therapy session with you if you really needed. He’d encourage you to leave the bed, that your partner wouldn’t have wanted this for you, he would try to be the best support system for you. He doesn’t even consider dating you. Not now, not anytime soon. Although he will remind you it’s okay to date other people and move on after enough time, it comes from a genuine place rather than a want to get with you. Yuji is a positive light in your life and wants to help you out of your slump.
Megumi doesn’t know how to comfort you, at first. Honestly he never liked your partner but he never would’ve wished for this upon them, especially given your mental state afterwards. Megumi has a hard time being comforting towards you when it comes to this sort of thing, so he just lets you know he’s there for you if you need him. He often finds himself more protective of you, because of how withdrawn your are and how off in your world you seem to be during missions. But for once, he doesn’t make a comment. He knows you’re going through a lot. Megumi opts for buying you sweets and taking you out to eat, as well as buying you things, as a way to help you cope or distract you from the feelings within you. Megumi refuses to tell you his true feelings after this.
Nobara has to remind herself not to be too insensitive. This is someone you loved and are grieving. But even she can’t deny she hated the person you were with. Regardless though, she often opts for distracting you and taking you out shopping. She’s not great with her feelings and vulnerability, so she’s not the best when it comes to these things either. Nobara finds herself often pampering you and giving you some love and some confidence. She hopes it’ll help, at least.
Yuta knows the feeling all too well, so he’s sympathetic. He always respected your partner and your relationship and often felt guilt for his feelings. Yuta does wonders at helping you cope and deal with what you’re feeling but he’s also very strict about you confronting these feelings rather than distracting yourself and running away from them. Yuta will not allow you to fall down a slippery slope. Yuta will be there for you the best he can be. You two get closer as a result of what happened.
Maki may not know what it’s like but maki loses important people in her life down the road. Maki doesn’t know how to cope with it very well, and she’s not the most comforting of people. However, she likes you a lot so she’s willing to at least try. Maki has made it a habit to go on walks with you often, so you have a chance to vent and get everything out. She can’t force you to talk, but she’ll definitely be aggressive enough about getting you to open up. It’s only because she worries so much, though.
Kirara helps out a lot. They try to keep your spirits up, and they often lend you a shoulder to cry on and an ear to vent to. Kirara can distract you, and often will, but they also want you to be able to talk about them, whether it’s venting, through jokes or going down memory lane. Kirara helps you a lot because they care, and Kirara would’ve never wanted this to happen to your partner regardless of their own feelings for you.
Kinji offers you to punch the feelings away. Whether that be at one of his matches or even just punching away at him. He can certainly take your hits after all. Kinji is not the best with comforting and so he often helps you through means of adrenaline and rage, or something. He leaves Kirara to the emotional stuff. He wishes he could be of more use, but he’s no good. However, Kinji absolutely gives you the biggest hugs when you tell him about it. He’s a good hugger.
Hajime is not a very.. emotional guy. So it’s natural he doesn’t know how the hell to help you in the slightest. He hated your partner and now he’s glad the stealing bastard is dead, but he absolutely hates seeing the emotional state it put you in and even he knows if he ever told you his true feelings on the matter, how insensitive that would be. He knows he’s a selfish prick, he doesn’t need you knowing that. However, Hajime often offers a shoulder to cry on and a awkward hug.
Hiromi didn’t have many comforting words for you, to be honest. What could he say, really? He offers to get you ice cream. He offers you a hug. Hell, he even offers you cuddles despite his more modest, relaxed self. Hiromi hated seeing you go through this but he felt powerless to help you deal with it in a healthy manner. This is a rather ugly side of you he’s seeing, but he still finds it strangely beautiful in its own fucked up way. Hiromi offers to let you stay with him, if being at home is too much for you. Literally Hiromi would do anything you ask, but he needs you to tell him what it is.
For Satoru, it only reminded him of Suguru. Seeing you go through something like this was heart wrenching for your unbearable blue eyed friend. Satoru was there for you, always. But for once the man knew how to keep his distance if you needed it. Satoru was there, gifts, hugs, anything you wanted or needed. Satoru didn’t ever want you to be alone but if you asked he’d listen. Unless you were neglecting your health, then he may be extremely annoying about it. He didn’t realize Suguru’s decline. He refuses to make the same mistake twice.
Suguru might be pleased depending on the timeline, but he doesn’t like seeing you upset regardless. Suguru also knows what it’s like to lose a loved one, but not quite to this extent. Suguru is there for you, every step of the way, and he’s patient with you too. If you need the space he’ll give it. But since he knows what depression looks like he’s more than ready to make sure you’re taking care of yourself and he knows the signs.
Shoko has lost almost everyone in her life, so naturally Shoko is there for you. She knows what it’s like, truly. She doesn’t cope with things the best, truthfully, but she still wants to be there. A part of her is glad they’re gone, but she knows that’s really fucked up. She’s never really cared, but you always make her think more about her actions and just.. being a little bit nicer. Shoko often makes you your food now, since she knows your emotionally too exhausted for even the simple things in life.
Utahime feels horrible! She’s there with you for all of it! She’s encouraging and loving to you, giving you so many hugs and telling you how you don’t deserve this, and that you’re so strong for dealing with this, that you’ll get through it. Utahime is worried greatly for you and may talk to the higher ups about cutting you some slack, because you seriously need it.
This is too familiar to Nanami and he’s not sure how to help. He hasn’t exactly handled Haibaras death very well, even after all these years. Kento often says that he drowned himself in work in order to deal with it, trying to be the mentor him and Yu never had. Nanami, as you may know, is not the most comforting person out there. However, he will always be there for you when you need. While Kento doesn’t like emotions mixing in with work at all, and that hasn’t changed, he does cut you some slack, but he will still make comments if you’re not at your best, suggesting you take time off. After hours, he often brings you dinner, and a shoulder to cry on.
Toji is not a comforting man, but he knows what it’s like to lose the love of your life. He still had some complicated feelings about loving you, after losing his wife. He had to come to his own realizations, that it was okay to love another person. And so that’s what he will tell you, give you genuine advice based off of his own experiences.
Naoya is a bastard, and it’s hard to believe this man has a soul at all. The moment he found out, he had to hide the smirk of victory on his face, knowing you were finally his. He does put on a good front however, pretending to be oh so sad about it. Regardless, he does feel a ting in his chest seeing you cry, that he can’t help but pull you into his arms. While naoya doesn’t really know how to help you, (often suggesting you fuck the pain away many, many times), he is also always there to listen and won’t ever push you away or degrade you for your feelings despite the man he normally can be.
Mai can come across as mean and bitter to everyone else but remnants of her old, gentle self show when it comes to you and this is absolutely no exception to the rule. She’s not happy this happened to you, it’s horrible to go through. Mai often will hang out with you and spend quality time with you, trying to be there for you as you go through this difficult time.
Choso knows what it is like to lose people you love and hold dear. While he can’t relate to your specific circumstance, he is there for you. He’s a good voice of reason and an ear to listen. Choso, despite his reserved disposition, is very good at comfort. It comes naturally to him, actually. Choso is like a personal therapist tbh.
Yuki is there for you. She feels bad, especially when you’re so upset. Although Yuki does not know how in the world to comfort you, she does what she can through buying you gifts and pampering you.
