PLEASE, PLEASE REBLOG THIS, WHETHER YOURE JEWISH OR NOT.

THIS IS A SUPER IMPORTANT PART OF OUR HISTORY, DONT LET IT GET DESTROYED.

This is bad guys,... PLEASE repost this....

this was three years ago, during summer 2020.

According to an article I found (written in french) it was saved a few weeks after the demolition note was sent, due to international backlash. I found no info more recent than August 9 2020, and sadly none at all written in english after the events.

For the record it is hard to get any recent info on this : there is almost nothing out there talking about this specific building. The incident has not been reported on the wikipedia page for the jewish community in uzbekistan (which would be appropriate), and the synagogue itself is hardly referenced anywhere.

Sharing this kind of info is important but this is why I turned the post dates on. It seems to be a settled case and the synagogue has apparently been saved.

It isn't the time anymore to spread awareness in hope to stop a tragedy. It's time to document the event so that it won't be forgotten.

Both Jewish nationalist and Hindu nationalist movements are fundamentally de-colonial.

That doesn’t absolve violent extremists within either movement.

People that object to classifying either movement as de-colonial because of the violent extremist factions are fundamentally confused about the nature of decolonization.

They believe that de-colonial movements can do no wrong, which is patently false.

Btw I’m not specifically singling out these two movements or drawing any special equivalence between them.

Off the top of my head, this also applies to Kurdish Nationalist and Assyrian Nationalist movements. I’m sure there are many many more that are currently relevant to South and Western Asian geopolitics that I’m not thinking of right now.

Uploaded April 4, 2025:

New settler colonial state just dropped guys. It’s called… India?

Lmao okay sure why not.

Let me guess. According to them Muslims are indigenous to the Indian Subcontinent and the Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains are evil colonizers invented by Britain who built their temples on top of demolished 100,000,000 year old Mosques?

Nope fuck that. Middle Eastern colonizers aren't indigenous to India. If anything their predecessors are the reason we LOST ONE OF THE EARLIEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD, NALANDA. It fucking was destroyed, along with the monastic population and it's libraries! It not only taught Buddhist Philosophy but sciences and arts...and attracted people across asia.... I'm not a huge fan of some of India's politics nor that knowledgeable but i will not stand for them being called colonizers. Like I was already upset about how this movement has done nothing to help bring peace and constantly harass Jews...this adds a new level of concern.

“Ashkenazi Jews are white” i can’t even count how many times people have thought I’m Iranian.

Apparently Russian Jews, on their documents their “race” is listed as Jew.

Take that as you wish.

Hi. This is true. Yes as a first generation Jewish-American who's family immigrated from the USSR I can tell you my Gen-X parents had Jewish and their tribe written on their legal documents.

Both Mizrahi and Ashkenazi Jews deal with that. Personally am Mizrahi and there are Ashkenazi Jewish people who have darker skin and curlier hair than me.

The person who told me this is millennial; their Gen Z relatives have Jew on their paperwork as well.

I’m adding so there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind, it’s very much still happening.

I don’t think Americans realize that outside the US, you’re a Jew first, regardless of your nationality.

Russian Jew, Iranian Jew, French Jew. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, you’re a Jew first. The only distinction is how well we’re tolerated.

As Golda Meir said to Henry Kissinger, “In Hebrew, we read right to left.”

I don’t think Americans realize that outside the US, you’re a Jew first, regardless of your nationality.

This was a rude awakening for me when I studied abroad in college. I had always thought of myself as a white person of Irish and Russian descent who just happens to be Jewish. But in Europe, I was suddenly an American JEW who happens to have Irish and Russian ancestry.

also “hebrew” was used as our race on identifying documents IN THE USA until AFTER wwii. in fact long i to segregation because jews fell under segregation laws as well.

Guys, it's almost like CRT is 40 years old, and its dichotomy barely works for the American black/white issue let alone other races 🤓

Some issues are truly bigger than just us Jews and the classification of people to "opressed" and "opressor" based on skin colour seems to be one.

However, yes, for all intends and purposes, Jews aren't "white".

You ever just think how happy you are to be a Jew? Yeah there's antisemites everywhere but I know I'm still happy to be Jewish.

It may be scary sometimes but we're one big family, and we're there for each other if the need arises.

"omg, she's such a girl boss"

She kills babies like it's her job, if that's a girl boss?

"I'm a witch and my patron is Lilith"

That seems like a bad idea, her whole thing is promising irresistible deals with inevitable pitfalls that will destroy your life and relationships... Maybe don't do that.

Because we find a home among the Jewish people?

Because Judaism gives us a way to live that we benefit from?

Because of internal conviction about the validity and sanctity of the Torah?

Because it’s the right religion for us and the right community for us?

Because it’s healing?

Because it’s love and joy and life?

Ffs

I’ve known I wanted to convert since I was 13 and had been thinking about it since I was 6

Bc I had Jewish friends and I did Jewish things with them and I found myself falling in love with it and feeling like I had come home

And also

Jewish conversion is a heavily moderated process

You can’t just finish if your motivations are bad because multiple rabbis make sure they aren’t

Goyim shut the actual fuck up challenge

Reminder that it goes against Halacha to remind a convert of their past. It's against Halacha to treat them any differently than someone who was born Jewish.

A convert to Judaism is a Jew. Full stop.

I hate hate hate antitheists.

"religion is blind obedience to gods!"

Jewish culture is looking to the sky and asking "hey what the fuck?? Stop being such a dick?"

Navajo religion has Coyote, whose main role is to be a little shit.

Traditional Mayan religion has gods like Buluc, who was feared and not really respected, and was considered more of a powerful threat than anything else.

That's not to mention religion types outside of monotheism and pantheism, such as animism (which has no "gods").

"religion is about condemning people you don't like to hell!" Most religions don't have a hell at all.

"religion is about controlling people!" MOST RELIGIONS DON'T EVEN HAVE SET MANUSCRIPTS OR COMMANDMENTS.

YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT CHRISTIANITY, AND MAYBE ISLAM SOMETIMES. STFUUUUUUUUUUUU

Judaism is not just looking to G-d and saying wtf stop being a dick.

Sometimes it is looking to G-d and saying why is the world this way? why are people this way? how can I help make it better? and then doing it.

Sometimes it is just talking to G-d because you need someone to listen you.

Sometimes it is "hey G-d wanna debate" because it how express love

Sometimes it is telling G-d all about the things you discovered, all things you understand, the ways that people and the world function and the science of it all and saying wow how built all this is cool as fuck and complicated.

Sometimes it is telling G-d your an atheist or agnostic.

Judaism is much much more then telling G-d to stop being a dick.

I get what OP is saying here and I agree with them. I just don't want that to be the take away that people have of Judaism and relationship with our G-d. We debate, struggle, argue with our G-d out of love.

That same way we debate, discuss, and argue with each other. That to us is show of love, it is speaking of love. It is love and joy being given form.

important addition!

"wrestling" with god (and with each other) is an important and even holy practice in Judaism! Which is part of why I mentioned it first - Judaism has a ton of important practices specifically dedicated to figuring out the logic, morality, and reason behind God's existence and His behavior.

Guys I love my Jews so much you don't even know

I bring a "zionism is first and foremost a term and philosophy for jews that was co-opted by both sides of the political spectrum because they aren't allowed to say kike anymore" vibe to the function that frankly makes a lot of people uncomfortable

fresh out the mikvah! it’s official! and it only took 3 years (:

i am now finally jewish!!!!!

edit: thank you all so much!!! i am so full of love!!

mazel tov and welcome back!!

there’s only one free palestine movement worth mentioning. it’s the only one with the real potential to actually free palestine from the actual demon holding it captive. today, unlike all the pathetic, attention seeking at most, worldwide demonstrations, the people of gaza found the bravery to actually protest publicly and unmasked, in an attempt to free gaza, their gaza. it was one of those moments that will go down in the history books, that you just know you’re watching history being made. unlike all of the so called “pro palestine” demonstrations worldwide, when the people of gaza risked their lives today to have a voice, they mentioned that who they need to be freed from was actually hamas. their brave protest on the streets of gaza, was very loud and very clear and very much against hamas. not israel, not the IDF, not the west, not the US, not anyone, just Hamas. hamas for ruining their lives, abusing them, tormenting them, constantly risking their lives and holding it captive.

reports say that the protest was possible due to the israeli military presence. hamas’ people didn’t go to terrorize and shut it (and freedom of speech) down, its own people into submission since they were afraid to be spotted by the IDF and eliminated.

yet for some reason so very few have discussed it here. haven’t seen one person that identifies from the “pro palestine” movement mention it. why? because it clashes against that narrative of the palestinian people being those miserable z class people who need their patronizing western saviors to speak for them and save them. i can only imagine how discouraging it can be when you’ve been protesting for so long and BAM they find a voice and direct the blame to literally their own people, their so called ”government”, than simply the jews again.
