I.

“Good morning, I’m your newscaster for today and I’m here to bring you the latest news from last night—”

You groan softly, pushing your covers over your head to drown out the noise of the calm and monotoned woman in the other room. You’ve always hated how the first thing your housemate does is turn on the news channel the moment they’ve woken up. It’s almost always at fifty decibels this early in the morning, echoing across your tiny little apartment and to the next one over.

You’ve complained about the noise several times before, but it seems like your housemate is just a little too forgetful about it. “Turn that thing down,” you shout, your voice hoarse with exhaustion from yesterday's shift.

Nothing in the volume changes despite your pleas and against your body’s wishes you shoot up like a rocket and scream as loud as your morning voice would let you, “I said turn that thing down, I’m not going to ask again!”

[10:28 pm]: If Juyeon was going to be completely honest, this movie night idea was all a part of this elaborate plan to get closer to you.

He had heard from his friends that it would be a perfect idea that fit him completely. It was simply even: Juyeon would suggest that you come over to his house to watch some movies together and you would happily oblige because you were a movie fanatic. It didn’t matter what was playing on the big screen, anything could catch your attention immediately and mesmerize you. And the mere fact that when he actually brought it up one day and you agreed to it? It felt like everything was going great!

He picked out a few horror movies, with Changmin’s scarily good help, so that when you would get frightened you’d jump straight into his arms so he could comfort and protect you.

Juyeon also picked out a few romantic movies, with Eric’s ingenuous help, so that you could relate the characters when they’d get flustered over handsome and kind love interests that all had at least one trait in common with him. He had imagined it so many times over, your cautious little glances toward him every time the leads would fall for each other over and over again. It was the perfect plan.

And then it wasn’t because you had decided to show up to his house with your own movies in hand.

Don’t get him wrong or anything! He loves anything you are interested in! But he wasn’t exactly planning on the night developing in the way that it was.

“Juyeon,” you called, struggling to catch his attention during the movie. “Juyeon…? Juyeon, are you crying?”

“No, I’m not!” He yelled, pretending as though his long sleeve shirt, which he was supposed to be using to wrap his arms around you during the horror movie, wasn’t covered in nothing but tears and snot. “I’m not crying at all!”

You heard a laugh threaten to spill out of your mouth, quickly covering it with your hands to hide your amusement away. “Juyeon, it’s just a movie. There’s no need to start sobbing like someone has died.”

“Someone did die! The dog!” He shouted, struggling to wipe his tears away with his sleeve as he searched for actual tissues. “How was I supposed to know that you were bringing Marley and Me to the movie night? Letting me get emotionally attached to the dog knowing the ending!”

[11:01 am]: okay let’s be real here I haven’t written in a hot moment because I’ve had no motivation nor any ideas in the first place so… hey. my requests r open for ateez and the boyz blurbs. perhaps…. drop a little something something in my ask box and I’ll write it 👁

[3:54 pm]: “Cut!” You groan at Kevin’s nagging voice, muffling your voice with the script in your hands. This had been the tenth time he’s stopped the play in the last three minutes and you were this close to exploding on him.

“What now, Kevin? We barely even got started,” Jacob complained as the boy walked over, not even paying attention to the words that were coming out of his mouth. He was too focused on keeping his nose stuck in the script, rereading the lines over and over again in his head. Jacob let a half smile stretch across his face as he reached his hand out to pat his back, “Kevin…? Are you good—?”

note: an extension of sorts from this blurb I posted like two years ago now

[12:53 pm]: “I’m so glad they canceled school for the rest of the day,” you mumbled, nearly pressing your face up against the glass window as you watched the sky from the comfort of indoors.

It had been such a pretty day when you had first arrived at the elementary you taught at, the sun’s rays reflecting off of the icicles that had formed from the night before and blowing your breath in the air to watch it turn into a white fog. The children seemed to be enjoying the cold just as much as you were as well, students of all ages copying you and blowing their breaths into the air to watch it become visible.
