In my serene senses and in my wolly wisdom, I long lustily for a lost, lamented love. In my ideal images and in my comely concepts, I ought for only one, The one. In my soft speeches and in my fierce furors, I bawl a ballad for my Beau. Lamented love was The One, and thee became my beau.

What do I know about Love? Nothing much, except that it is a traveller. It can live within you for years and one day, you will wake up and it won’t be there inside you. The woman lying beside you will no longer feel home. To people, Love is a seed; once it is sowed inside a heart, it is nurtured with care and happiness. It grows. And to me, Love once included a girl — the warmness of her eyes, the gentle smile, and the twisted nature. A while ago, Love made its departure from my life, but her scent yet emits off my skin. People fall in love not to exploit but to leave a scent of their own. Every time I thought found love, it slipped off my hand, no matter how hard I tried to hold on to. I believe, Love only happens once. Then, it is all liking someone and spending time. But one thing I know about Love is that it’s hauntingly beautiful. At first, it will give you too many hiccups. Then, it will knock the breathe out of you. In the end, it becomes words someone writes. The songs one dares not to listen. And then, it is found in the midst of colours. Sadness will sprout off its branches, squeezing the life out of you.

Where did I go wrong? I do not know. When you left me, you opened a void in my chest. Every time I think of you, pain leaks out of it. And I clutch my chest, choking the to death. It was always you icy-knives and cold words; with problems and ‘you-don’t-understand’. I was there for you, but where were you? I stood in the midst of thorns, plucking roses for you, while you crushed its petals. I wanted to confine in you, but you confined me behind the bars. To you, I was a captive. Behind those bars of pain and suffering, I wrote prose and musings; only if you bothered to set me free. Every time you deserted me, I wish I had not gone out, seeking you in the scorching heat. Your memories, they either torrent down on me until I drown or burn my skin black. These crimson marks, they do not lie. They are a part of my poetries and excerpts. They are the breathing proof of my broken love. Yet, I write to you with tears of happiness that you taught me to love unconditionally, and now is the time to let go.

I hope you move on.” Her last words were. I looked back in the past. It never felt right; it still doesn’t. “Before you go, can I ask you something?” I asked her, fisting my hands as I held back my tears. “Another desperate attempt to make me stay?” she said bitterly. “No!” I shouted. I breathe heavily. “I’m sorry. Anything I do will make not make you stay, and you have decided to abandon me.” I uncurled my fingers. “Just assure me that I will find love again, please?” “You found love in me once.” She turned around to leave. “I feel I am incapable of being loved again. I waited for you, but now you are here, walking away without explanations.” Every step that distanced us, I felt breathe being knocked off my chest. I could do nothing, but see us end. “You found love, didn’t you?

You are beautiful,” I tell her. “I am sure you say it to every girl you meet,” she replies. “Who made you question your beauty?” I hold her hand. “Believe in yourself.” “No one.” Lies in her dismissal. I wait for her to continue. “Okay…” She heaves, entwining our fingers. “I’m a misfit. Everyone is trying to find something right for me, but I don’t belong anywhere. Not today. It is all confusing. I am walking on a path, but I don’t know the end of the road.” “I know you are a misfit.” I press my lips against her hand. “A star — adrift and aloof — but does not fall under any constellation. But it is a shame that some try to fathom you into one.

Once I loved a girl,” I tell her. My lips, edged with a sad smile. “I loved a guy, too,” she says. “What happened with her?” “We just fell apart,” I reply. “People just don’t fall apart. There is always a reason,” she retorts. I sat in silence, my nails peeling the skin off my fingers. “Can you not get her back?” she asks with hope glaring back at me. “I would want to, but...” I swallowed my remaining words. “...but?” “I am not the same person. And she deserves the guy she fell for. The best of me,” I make an excuse. “But she has changed too.” She stands up to leave. “I love you but you are not brave. You cannot get me back because you don’t want to. Your love, for us, has faded and all you are doing right now is pretending.” And saying that, she left.

You’re cute, you know?” I say. “But today… today, you look beautiful. I can feel your grace.” “Please, don’t. Not now,” she says with a bittersweet smile. “He abandoned me. How can I be beautiful?” “But I mean it,” I reply, smiling genuinely. “You know? The usual emotions. How moon abandons the stars sometimes, but shows up on the darkest night. Your beauty abandoned you, too, but here it is now.” “And you are the stars?” She managed a smile. Oh god, I love her so much. “Yes, girl friend.

Woah!

You can do nothing to make me feel better, you know? Nothing. And as much as these words might hurt you, know that it hurts me to say them, too. It does. And I hope you understand this part. • And timing is a funny, delicate thing. It makes me wonder about the roads I missed. The wrong choices I made. The circumstances. What if we’d met earlier. Would that have resulted into a different faith? Or meeting later. Maybe, now? Would that change anything? All I know is, the time we spent together, the love we had, shed its leave as I turned winter. And I cannot fathom the stale branches into our tree. • And when my daughter would come to me, crying about this guy leaving her, or things not working out, I would tell her about you. And us. And I will mention that life is all about valid feelings and skulking desires, and it is okay to be sad and cry. Because, somewhere, at some point again, you will bump into someone else again. And you will feel that way, again. Life is young, it will always be, and you just have to play along until it suddenly fades away. You wouldn’t be bothered about the boy left, or could have been the one, because it will all fade away. So you have to stop and play along. Look at the beauty and the beast. Explore love and experience lust. Create desires and chase dreams. And most importantly, be yourself. • Because, this is a strange world we live in. Always at war with ourselves. Always distancing ourselves.

“Afraid?” “Why should I be?” “Being this close to the darkness. It can devour you, too.” Her laugh, melodious. “You are the darkness? Well, we all are evil in our own way. And you're a child; chasing light. And children needs to grow up.” Her point of view, stunning, different from the world. “So I should just grow up?” “Take your time. Don't rush. Devour the light slowly. Enjoy the wild darkness, for one day, you'll wake up with responsibilities and dreams to conquer, and you'll know you've to let go of this childish nature, and be the man that you should be.” #darkness #she #love #beautiful #excerpt #child #quote #philosophy #deep #philosopher
