  1. Love Bonnie Bedelia. First saw her on the American soap opera LOVE OF LIFE as the character of Sandy. She was great in HEART LIKE A WHEEL.

    1. Hey Greg….thanks for the feedback on Bonnie Bedelia. I was aware of her before Die Hard…..that was because of Heart Like A Wheel….a movie I was sure got her an Oscar nomination…..turns out she got snubbed that year. Heart Like A Wheel was a movie on HBO all the time back in my youth (1980s). Good stuff.

  2. I wrote to The Work Horse recently mentioning that I had enjoyed watching Bonnie on television – indeed in a REAL Christmas movie! Is it possible that my post prompted WH to give her the page that she justly deserves?

Heck I’m gonna claim that anyway! – and if WH denies it I’ll keep my fingers crossed that nobody believes him. Overactivity by human workaholics such as Bruce can actually make their memory go blank.

Bonnie has at post-production stage awaiting 2023 release the big-screen biographical sports drama “The Hill” in which she shares star billing with Dennis Quaid and Scott Glen. It is describe as “The remarkable true-life story of Ricky Hill’s improbable journey to play Major League Baseball.” Ricky is played by Quaid.

According to Celebrity Net Worth site Bonnie has a current net worth of $4 million.

    1. Hey Bob….you can take credit for this page…..or…..maybe when Debbie and I were watching Die Hard on Christmas Eve (as we all know it’s a Christmas movie)….the thought crossed my mind that she needed an UMR page. As for The Hill…..it looks interesting….as I like baseball movies. I think Quaid plays the father of Ricky Hill. Quaid is a great athlete but at 70ish…his days of doing sports seem to be over. Good stuff and thanks for the headsup on my spelling error on her last name.

FYI – Bonnie’s real last name is Culkin….Culkin of Home Alone fame…..so if one were to connect those dots….John and Holly McClane are the uncle and aunt of Kevin in Home Alone and Roman of Succession.

      1. HI BIG PERSON Thanks for your reply and the additional interesting trivia. “When the Legend’s more exciting than the Truth print the Legend,” it was said in Stewart/Wayne’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance; and so it is that the fable that Die Hard is a Christmas movie continues to excite the misinformed.

Actually I had been thinking about you and Die Hard and have decided that maybe in attempting to put down [albeit without much success] your opinions in the matter I am being a bit harsh on you.

What has led me to this conclusion is that the other night I watched a rerun of the Cheers sitcom episode called “The Spy who came in for a Cold One” [Series 1 episode 12 aired first Dec 16th 1982] in which a posh seemingly-eccentric character comes into the bar, orders a beer and tells everyone that he’s a spy.

Nobody believes him but schoolmarm-type condescending waitress Diane [Shelley Long] – no reflection on your profession WH! – decides that his seeming duplicity is either fantasy or untruth and she proposes to confront him with those accusations and tell him to catch himself on.

However bar owner Sam Malone [Ted Danson] takes her aside and explains that people come into bars to get away from reality for a while and if the guy wants to think he’s a spy Diane is to leave him alone to relax and enjoy his dream world. “What harm is he doing even if his beliefs are untrue?” Sam asks Diane.

And so it occurred to me that Sam was right and by extension I said to myself “Bob, what harm does it do if The Work Horse and Steve want to believe -or pretend they think- that Die Hard is a Christmas movie? Leave them alone Bob to enjoy their dreams and don’t be a pain in the *** like Diane.”

EXPLANATORY NOTE: It turned out the guy was not a spy but actually a genuine billionaire out “slumming” for fun. Billionaires of course are allowed to have any dreams that the wish to and be as eccentric as they like – take Howard Hughes for example!
