Restrictions too strict?
[edit]Currently, the subject type constraint (Q21503250) only allows usage of this property on instances of organization (Q43229). However, it is fair to use this property on Wikidata items of the following types: internet backbone (Q1360517) and Internet exchange point (Q1433061). Should we relax the restriction on this property, or should the two types be adjusted to become instances of organization (Q43229)? Southparkfan (talk) 18:50, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- more than that, it should also support type human, given personal ASNs are a thing PrincessRavy (talk) 03:08, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
big confusion
[edit]Mix-N-match catalog https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/#/catalog/3737 is called "autonomous system number".
The entry https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/#/entry/96337808 says that SUSE (Q14594782) has "catalog id 29298" but then links to https://www.peeringdb.com/net/4033. This talks about SUSE Linux (Q10513863), but the correct entity is SUSE (the company).
The main formatterURL of autonomous system number (P3797) resolves to https://bgp.he.net/AS4033, which is AS4033 Air Force Systems Networking
A third-party formatterURL on the same property is https://www.peeringdb.com/search?q=AS$1, which leads to https://www.peeringdb.com/search?q=AS4033, which lists 3 unrelated organizations whose AS start with "4033".
On the other hand, https://www.peeringdb.com/search?q=AS29298 redirects to https://www.peeringdb.com/net/4033, which is SUSE. And https://bgp.he.net/AS29298 is AS29298 SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH.
So I'm utterly confused: I think the catalog is broken, but also the third-party formatterURL doesn't work well. Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 18:01, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
