- Motivation
When it comes to authority control, our coverage of people from Finland is incomplete. This will fill the gap. Multichill (talk) 18:43, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Support This should be artist ID, not actor ID. Actors can be considered artists, but not the other way around. Jane023 (talk) 19:43, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Jane023: actors is the term they use. It's not actor (Q33999) more like Actor (Q421957). I agree it's confusing so I don't oppose to changing it to artist. Multichill (talk) 21:53, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Well I support either way, and as long as the Finns can understand it, then I guess it's OK. A bit weird, that's all. Jane023 (talk) 00:25, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Just received an explanation: Current data model of the Finnish National Gallery is based on the Cidoc CRM. In this context, the term 'actor' refers to the Cidoc CRM entity: http://www.cidoc-crm.org/Entity/e39-actor/version-6.2 It doesn't mean 'an actor in a play or a movie' but 'an actor in the Cidoc CRM data model'. Support Maybe just "Finnish National Gallery person ID"? or just "Finnish National Gallery ID"? --Anvilaquarius (talk) 10:16, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support We need this. Missvain (talk) 15:09, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support. This property will be useful for authority control. YULdigitalpreservation (talk) 15:49, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Multichill, Jane023, Anvilaquarius, Missvain, YULdigitalpreservation: Done Note I have labeled the property "Finnish National Gallery person ID" in English to be consistent with similar properties - however if "Actor" can include non-persons (or if there's another good reason) I would be fine is somebody reverted the label to "... Actor ID". ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:43, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
