- Oppose Inverse properties are superfluous since they can easily be queried in the reverse direction, and create difficulties for maintenance, and particularly in this case may make the Wikidata UI completely unusable for any entity that has more than a few thousand members with Wikidata entries. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:23, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Are inverse properties officially discouraged? While inverse relationships can be queried, I would find it very convenient to have them directly available in browsing and editing, e.g. for a working group at a university with usually abot 5-20 members. For organizations with a large number of members, editors would probably refrain from listing all of them anyway. Wiljes (talk) 23:29, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Here is a list of all existing inverse properties. Currently, there are 144, i.e. 72 pairs. Wiljes (talk) 05:18, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Arthur's point about the Wikidata UI. Mahir256 (talk) 05:52, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Admittedly, Bielefeld University (Q24382) → Cord Wiljes (Q53243913) was an unfortunate example, as this could potentially lead to thousands of values for a single item. However, 1. for smaller organizations (like a working group at a university) "has member" would be very helpful to increase usability 2. I believe, editors would use "has member" conscientiously, as they do for other properties (like has part(s) (P527)) which could also lead to thousands of entries. - Oppose Use https://tools.wmflabs.org/sqid/#/ if you want to browse information like that with the current Wikidata setup. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 17:35, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Use SQID, as ChristianKl mentioned, or Reasonator.--Nw520 (talk) 20:36, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose as an unnecesary inverse. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:31, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
