Different authors understand and focus on either constituencies of business models or narratives. The question remains what the predictive value of business model is. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this interdisciplinary conceptual paper is to investigate and discuss business models as scientific models. METHODS: This article is conceptual, although previous studies on business models enrich this discussion. RESULTS: A narrative perspective on business models shows that they also have a predictive value that is expressed through language not in numbers, maps, and diagrams. The main aim of the article is to identify the awareness level of sustainability and sustainable development goals in the context of business opportunity areas by analysing the results of a survey of organisations in six countries (Finland, Slovakia, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Turkey). MEASURES AND VARIABLES IN DATASET The questionnaire used in the survey has two sections; Informat... more MEASURES AND VARIABLES IN DATASET The questionnaire used in the survey has two sections; Information asked on a respondent's demographics and descriptive statistics are in the first section. The measures that respondents indicated their perceptions of the research measures' items are in the second section. All the measures adopted from the existing literature on the questionnaire are with 5 point Likert scales, where one indicates the "strongly disagree", and five indicates "strongly agree." The creativity measures are from the study of Madjar et al. (2011), wherein radical creativity and incremental creativity has three items for each. The ten items for the forms of innovation are from the survey of Huang et al. (2012); five items for product innovation, and five items for process innovation. The knowledge sharing measure has three items, and the measure is from the study of Lee (2018). Quality of sharing knowledge measure from the study of Chiu et al. (2006) has nine items. Items in firm performance measure are from widely used measures in the literature, such as in Tseng (2014).

To facilitate cross‐cultural research, we validated an instrument measuring four employee silence motives (i.e., silence based on fear, resignation, prosocial, and selfish motives) in 21 languages. Across 33 countries (N = 8,222) representing diverse cultural clusters, the instrument shows good psychometric properties (i.e., internal reliabilities, factor structure, and measurement invariance). Results further revealed similarities and differences in the prevalence of silence motives between countries, but did not necessarily support cultural stereotypes. Design/methodology/approach Based on 174 responses gathered through a street survey method from 5 different universities in Turkey, data are analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences software (SPSS 16.0). Principal component analysis is performed to assess the differentiation in factors. Multiple regression analysis is used to examine the effects of the items on the post-millennials purchasing and recommendation behavior. Design/methodology/approach The study presents alternative decision-making preference models of a suitable succession for parent founders based on the models of microeconomic theory in the context of family businesses. Findings The theories and models of economics in the current study illustrate that the increase in the life expectancy of the parent founders with their decisions toward the preference of a suitable successor under the age constraint may restrict the sustainability of their family businesses. ABSTRACT The paper presents the results of an exploratory international survey, excluding USA, of... more ABSTRACT The paper presents the results of an exploratory international survey, excluding USA, of postgraduate business students including MBAs. The central purpose was to consider the relationship between the propensity for wisdom and adopting an ecological perspective that is more compatible with long-term planetary sustainability. Other variables were considered. Students were more inclined to the New Ecological Paradigm [NEP], with a significant strong correlation between the level of wisdom and environmental concern. Stronger NEP and wisdom scores were positively correlated with subjective wellbeing and psychological wellbeing. Although there was no correlation between gender and wisdom, there was a positive correlation between wisdom and those with children as well as those who are partnered, suggesting the importance of experience in wisdom formation. Gender also did not correlate with environmental concern. Students reasonably strongly agreed with sustainability being a significant part of the Business degree curriculum. Further curriculum implications are provided.
