THANK UUU that means a lot ‘cause mary isn’t a character i focus on very often. i love her though. im making this more about kagefuture because it’s what comes to mind first HEHEHEH

ummm. this got very setomary focused btw. sorry. cause seto and mary have their own sitcom situation in kagefuture, okay? i’m not lying they all have their sideplots they all have lives OKAY. sometimes i see the tags being like GOD WHAT WILL SHINTARO AND AYANO TELL THE DAN NOW… listen they’re all grown ass adults the dan frankly doesn’t care that much. they have problems of their own to worry about who shintaro’s kissing that week

anyways seto and mary. i’ve talked abt this but mary not wanting to be in a relationship with seto 'cause erm immortal stuff etc etc i talk about it more here and seto eventually getting in a relationship with a random girl (LESBIAN WAY)

but. like. okay hear my oddly specific headcanons. seto gets his hands on a lot of money from some big job he had or something. so he makes a very bad financial decision as a young adult and buys a rundown house to restore. YAAAY. kagefuture seto is like. still working multiple time jobs, living in a comically half done house and has a hard time making ends meet 'cause he’s still doing a lot of payments for the house+renovations AND! he’s financially supporting mary at the same time, who moves out after living with him in that house. that means paying someone else’s expenses on top of everything LOL and I’LL GET back to this when i get to mary

i think they’d start that house project together. seto was totally thinking of like, building a home for both of them. she was totally part of that plan. they’ve like put the cards on the table btw they’ve had the “i’m in love with you” “i don’t think u should be” convo so that is like. there. and they’re fine with that for a while but as seto grows older, mary starts wondering if she’s holding him back from finding someone and sort of encourages him to date. which in return sorta breaks seto’s heart 'cause HE’S FINE (allegedly) with mary not wanting him but when the person u love keeps being like ur suuuuuch a great guy. for someone else💗🙏 IT KINDA STINGS.

so he does ig. and ends up in a serious relationship. and sitcom situation ensues but it’s a lot worse because this girl is probably chill and nice and totally innocent like i doubt she’d be in the know of the abilities. so she IS a total outsider. and she’s pretty justified to look at setomary’s situation and be like so what’s the deal here i’m not totally happy about it. and their relationship becomes serious enough for her to move in too. i suppose she’d be the kind of person who’s also into the idea of renovating a house and shit. like very seto’s vibe of course if it’s a oc gf for him. i think she’d be like comically perfect for him in every way but. SHE’S NOT MARY.

so the three of them are living together LMAOOO and well sitcom shit etc etc etc stupid normal jealousy etc etc etc. so mary ends up moving out of her own accord, 'cause it was pretty silly and the reason she even encouraged seto to date is that she didn’t wanna hold him back, so she can’t really… stay, she thinks. she would’ve gone back to her house in the woods but that feels like, incredibly impractical and also counterproductive for her mental health. so she rents an apartment 'cause seto insists and SWEARS he can pay for it for her.

mary HAS a job. she works part time at a flower shop. but it’s just part time, she can’t do more than that bc of her health (heavy social anxiety+ptsd) so it’s not A lot of money. and also she has an assistance dog so that’s another expense. and i think she doesn’t even do a lot of customer work and she only even works there cause the owner knows seto and is doing him the favor of keeping her employed (idk if you’ve read mc talkers but i like the portrayal of seto and his jobs there. everyone loves him and wants him to even inherit their businesses LOL so i think he’d know people that would help out)

SOOOO… seto my girl… he’s going through it with the financial horrors and relationship horrors. and no. no one knows he’s struggling like this he’s not telling anyone. shintaro thinks he’s got it hard in his love triangle at least u can pay rent u neet! anyways. sry i keep spoiling stuff sometimes im just obsessed with my own au. it’s not like the kanoshinaya comics will get that into this whole thing but there IS a mekatrio comic in the plans, where this is kind of mentioned. lalalalalala

YESS i think shintaro is more like his mom and momo is more like his dad so that’s also who they’re closer to.

dude i have no idea if i completely made this up but i could’ve sworn there was a point where shintaro thought of the idea of seeing his dad again and thinking something like “i wonder how he’d feel seeing just how pathetic his son turned out to be” LIKE IT feels a little too specific for me to have made it up but also. me who runs the blog about the too specific stuff i’ve made up. so… i totally could have. or maybe it was some fanfic i read? or maybe it was another character’s pov?

cause in my mind this was said in the context of creating the plan to face clearing eyes because even if the ending we got is pretty wholesome, the mekakushi dan DID want to save EVERYONE in the daze, like that had been sort of the original plan. umm so if anyone else thinks this sounds familiar tell me. otherwise yeah i might’ve made it up. but i still think it’s more or less how shintaro would feel anyway

also since it’s basically canon shintaro kind of thinks seto’s awesome as hell and is kinda jealous of him already for being what shintaro considers a Good Man the feeling is worse in this context LOLLL

anyways another wholesome chungus hc. i think it’d be cute if mr kisaragi tries giving shintaro lame dating advice ‘cause anyone with eyes can see the shinaya situation going on. heheheee

well i think he already knows ayano cause she was in the daze with him, so he probably really likes her already. and i think he’s besties with shion and rin so he’s also really excited to meet kido and mary.

i think it’d be kind of awesome if mr kisaragi is like, involved in kido coming out to rin because rin is not superrrrr happy about it like rin really wants kido to just be a girl. im not headcanoning rin as a transphobic monster btw i just think she’d be like. conflicted. i base it on novel 8 when they meet again in the daze and rin is bitching about kido using ore instead of watashi lol and also how kido wasn’t girly at all when they moved to the mansion and rin takes them shopping for really girly clothes that makes kido wanna die later (novel 7)

but imagine mr kisaragi acting as her person of confidence and maybe talks to her into being more open to the idea. idk i think that’s cool *kicks rock* so kido would be really appreciative of him. also obligatory kidomomo mention. mr kisaragi would be Very excited abt kidomomo. u need to understand that mr kisaragi and rin (and ayaka and shion) are best friends in this scenario. okay.

because of his one faceless frame in mca i hc he’s a sporty guy and because he dies in the sea i hc he was a swimmer. yes that’s my hc. just listen to me okay. i also hc seto is sporty like i think he’s the kinda guy to go for a run really early LOL so maybe they start doing this together cause they can bond over this teeheee. maybe shintaro can get jealous why not

and also i think he’d be begging everyone to take him to a freaking pool already and maybe kido takes him using concealing eyes just so shintaro and momo wont be mad about it LOL and he convinces seto to try get over his fear of water. lalalalalala

anyways also he plays along with shintaro and momo not taking him home, because they seem so stressed and he also understands its a totally weird situation. but he keeps getting more and more uneasy the more he hears about their lives. he’s like ur mom is dealing with this on her OWN?? she’s totally overworking and stressing over money, daughter is working on an exploitative industry and son was so depressed he was a shut in??? and he could go home rn and be with her and ur NOT LETTING HIM???

so he ends up putting his foot down and getting angry at them and telling them to JUST TAKE HIM HOME!!! i think it’d be a little shocking cause he’s a chill guy and their mom is stern enough to have always been “the mean parent” so that + not having a dad for Many years leaves shintaro and momo like EEK. YES SIR🫡

THE ONE YEAR AGE GAP TOOK ME OUT AJSNWKDKEODKE honestly that is an interesting part of it i think because sometimes it kind of feels like the age gap is bigger and that’s because of miss ayano tateyama. are you ready for me to make this ask about something entirely different? yay!

i talked about this in another post but in flashbacks, despite ayano is only older by one year, she acts a lot more mature and naggy while the trio are more mischievous and up to nefarious doings (pranks and waking ayano up too early💔) so that makes it feel like the age gap is bigger than it is.

i hc they act this way because the mekatrio was experiencing the first safe place in their childhood so they went all out on the Being A Kid thing. the tateyamas live happily together for a few years before ayaka passes and everything goes to shit. the trio gets adopted when they’re like, between 7 and 10 (which we can assume from the way they act and talk when they’re kids. it seems to me proper of those ages. i think it’s a pretty logical conclusion but i also work with kids so idk) so the trio really really has some good years where they experience some wholesome childhoods they haven’t been able to until then (well kido had a normal childhood before their bio mom died but I think the stuff that happens to them at the kido mansion later is crazy enough to be as bad as kano and seto’s terrible caregivers. thanks jin. these 3 really needed all that, sure)

ANYWAYS i think that’s why while safe with the tateyamas, the mekatrio really acting so much like actual kids + ayano REALLY wanting to feel like a big sister, makes them end up in a dynamic where ayano maybe sees them as Much younger than they actually are, even though their real age gap is basically insignificant. i dont think it goes both ways, like i dont think the trio feel as if ayano is a lot older, instead they feel like she’s on a step above them (the step might look a little like a pedestal)

okay. so. *rereads ask* right right kanoshin we were talking about that. SO SINCE THE MEKATRIO+AYANO AGE GAP FEELS BIGGER THAN IT IS, it is also logical For us as readers that the mekatrio+shintaro age gap also feels bigger, because shintaro is ayano’s age. and idk if you’ve read the novels but shintaro’s pov CONSTANTLY points out that everyone is younger than him, in fact let me find you something really funny he says abt kano

ok i went to find this and i forgot shintaro felt bad hearing kido calling kano useless bc ene called him useless too. gay as hell i think but whatever. kano is NOT partying you idiot he’s going through the horrors (i dont actually remember what he was actually up to here but he mightve been baiting the hibihiyo death or taking ene to her body LMAO) GOD FUCK SORRY I KEEP GETTING SO OFF TOPIC FORGIVE ME I JUST LOVE TALKING ABOUT KAGEROU PROJECT

ANYWAYS so even though u thought the kanoshin age gap was evil, maybe this was subconsciously why. i think shintaro maybe sees it a little at first (after all in that bit i attached, shintaro had known kano for only like. a day) especially because shintaro is closer to ayano and she (hc) speaks of her siblings like they’re Babies but as shintaro gets to know kano (and kido and seto) more, he naturally starts seeing them as the age they are and how it’s not different from his own lol

back to kagefuture discussion as well. this might be something that is slightly relevant in the next comic. ummm. heheh. also even in part 10 i added the bit where ayano is trying to talk to kano but she imagines him as a kid all of a sudden. and in part 16 which is the last i posted she dreams of him as a kid. like Im going somewhere with this just just just. trust. the kano and ayano sibling relationship in kagefuture is my favorite to write. shintaro’s love life can die for all i care

on this subject. my favorite one is shintaro and momo trying to figure out how to explain things to their mom so they keep mr kisaragi in the hideout/tateyama house until they figure it out basically on house arrest and he’s like guys i miss my wife💔and also the sun💔 let me out💔

i’m seeing a pattern of people going from hate to love… kind of like kano and shintaro themselves…

i didn’t go through that i was mostly like, totally neutral. i was also just way too into shinaya to gaf. also by the time i got into kagepro at 13 i already knew full well i wasn’t straight so i didnt have a problem seeing the gayness of kano hating shintaro. i was like sure you go ahead and Hate the main character with the red color motif see how that turns out for you.

also did kagefuture singlehandedly open ur eyes to kanoshin… if it did i must say i feel pretty good about that
