39K views · 2.4K reactions | Want to see how acetone can change the game for your next flip? Drop “ACETONE” in the comments, and I’ll send over links to all my must-have tools and supplies! Why I’m hooked on removing vintage finishes with acetone and a scrub brush: 1. Serious Time-Saver: No more exhausting, multi-step stripping marathons, scraping until your arms give out, or sanding for days. Acetone powers through vintage finishes like a dream, so you can dive into the fun part—like choosing paint colors or stains—way sooner! 2. Gets Every Last Detail: Sandpaper doesn’t stand a chance against intricate carvings or spindles, but a scrub brush with acetone? Absolute perfection. It effortlessly cleans out crevices and detailed trim work, making your piece truly shine. 3. Less Mess, More Satisfaction: Tired of drowning in a cloud of sawdust? Acetone gently lifts the finish right off, making cleanup a total breeze. Lay down some cardboard or a drop cloth to catch any drips, but don’t stress—acetone evaporates quickly, keeping your workspace tidy! 4. Gentle on Wood: While it’s tough on finishes, acetone is surprisingly kind to the wood underneath. It preserves the natural beauty of the grain and preps it perfectly for whatever transformation you have in mind—whether that’s a deep, rich stain or a bold, colorful paint. 5. Straight to the Good Part: The faster you strip, the sooner you get to unleash your creativity and turn that thrifted find into a jaw-dropping statement piece. Painting, staining, waxing—whatever you choose, it’s all about making something uniquely yours! Love furniture flips and bite-sized DIY tips that make you feel like a pro? You’re in the right place! Plain ol white vinegar and steel wool work magic on tarnished brass and bronze…. But not so much magic that it looks factory fresh. If you want factory fresh brasso is the move. You might be tempted to still use vinegar and to soak or boil the hardware but don’t. Brass and bronze are made up of other metals. One of those metals is copper and will react to the acid and come through, tinting the metal pink. It will fade eventually but if you don’t want the possibility of pink avoid that method. The process for a nice antique look is easy peasy: First check to make sure that the hardware is in fact solid brass/bronze. If it’s not there are other things you can do but that’s another reel. If it is soak your 0000 steel pad in the vinegar and rub until you like it. Then rinse it off and reattach ✨ #refurbishingfurniture #furnitureflipping #furniturerestoration #vintagefurnituremakeover #patinalovers #antiquefurniture #diyfurnituremakeover | Second Wind VTG

This will help for a more smoother to touch finish 🫳 These steps can make such a big difference on the over all finish ⬆️🙌🙌 2️⃣ Mist spray water 💦 Do this just before applying the paint wash to open up the wood grain and help for an even coverage! 😍 Preventing blotchy patches 👍 3️⃣ Use a dry paint brush to go around the edges and any details Wiz around 💫 all of your edges, nooks and crannies to stop any build up of paint wash. It will give much nicer finish in the end 👌♥️ Smooth off again when the paint wash is dry, before the varnish is applied ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You can find step by step info on each process I used on this piece stripping, paint washing and varnishing on my page @willettsupcycle pop over, take a look and tap follow if it’s your kind of vibe ✌🏻 #willettsupcycle #furnituremakeover #furnitureflip #upcycling #lichfield #interiorideas #refurbishedfurniture #interior #upcycled #whybuynew #furniureupcycle #dixiebellepaint #mycolourfulupcycle #upcyclethathome #rawwood #vintage #vintagefurniture #furnituretips #upcyclingtips #vintageoak | Willettsupcycle

28K views · 343 reactions | Coffee table details👇🏽 #AD I loved the style and shape of this coffee table, but not the color and definitely not the crackled glass. So I decided to give it a faux wood finish using all. new. products. Believe it or not, in a decade of furniture flipping, I have never used chalk paint. But, when @Rustoleum sends you their products, you use them! I was amazed by how easy it was to use. I love the @rustoleum glazes I have used so much that I had to try another one — the color was absolutely perfect. It added the perfect amount of vintage—lending itself to the Pottery Barn-look I was going for. Lastly I added @rustoleum chalked protective top coat in a matte clear for added protection without losing the matte finish. #coffeetablemakeover #furniturerefresh #oldtonewfurniture | Shelly ChicB outique

668K views · 11K reactions | If I was just starting out today with no tools + no garage, THIS is how I would flip every single piece. The ‘pottery barn’ finish sells fast & for top $$$. I bought this piece for $50 and sold it for $450 in 24 hours💰 Here’s how I did it: + scuff sand with 150 grit + vacuum/wipe away dust to prep for primer + apply 3 coats of Zinnser bullseye 1-2-3 primer tinted in the color turbo tan (this will give you a wood colored base) and sand lightly with 320 grit before third coat. (If your hardware store won’t tint your primer, you can achieve the same look by priming first then adding tan paint!) + apply two coats of my favorite pickled oak gel stain.. drag the the whisk broom across lightly to create texture & grain. + apply one coat of the minwax aged oak gel stain and wipe away with paper towels.. making sure to blend in any steaks. + apply two coats of minwax poly top coat in clear satin with a foam roller That’s it! Comment STEPS and I will send you the 9 item shopping list for this exact flip!👏🏻 #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover #dresserflip #dressermakeover | molly harris | diy furniture flips

130K views · 1.2K reactions | How to Gel Stain over Stained Wood | A beginner tutorial on gel stain over existing stain without sanding it down to bare wood. | By Salvaged Inspirations | Is a beginner's tutorial on how I turn orange stained furniture into warm looking wood. I picked up this orange stained plant stand from my local thrift store. I started by removing the price tag with my heat gun and then gave it a really good cleaning with white lightning. Once it was 100% dry, I scuff sanded with a flexible two 20 grit sanding sponge. The flexible sanding sponge is awesome if you have rounded edges or round legs. And the best part is a scuff sanding is all that's needed when you use gel stain. Now you don't need to sand down to bare wood because gel stain sits on top of an existing finis
