Deep core exercises (planks, bridges, bird dogs, etc.) are a very effective way to strengthen and tighten your entire midsection.

And although the terms are often used interchangeably, abs training and core training are NOT the same thing.

I prefer deep core training over abs-specific training to build strength in my entire core.

More core strength can improve your other lifts (deadlift, squat, OHP, etc.) and improve your back pain and posture.

And when paired with balanced nutrition, it can noticeably tighten your entire midsection.

Now let’s talk about the differences:

🔥 ABS TRAINING uses spinal flexion (crunches) to train the 3 abdominal layers (rectus abdominis/external obliques, internal obliques, and transverse abdominis) and Deep Core Exercises, Transverse Abdominis, Rectus Abdominis, Deadlift Squat, Deep Core, Abs Training, Balanced Nutrition, Core Exercises, Core Training

Seyda Price • B.S. , CPT | Pelvic Floor, Fitness Tips 🇹🇷🇺🇸 on Instagram: "This workout puts a ton of stress on the lumbar spine. During a Russian twist, your back is not supported in any way. This causes it to be in full flexion where the spine is rounded. This puts a lot of compression on your spine, and it’s like you are in a sit-up for the duration of the exercise. Doing this exercise over and over again can put you at risk of a herniated disk. When abused by doing exercises such as the Russian twist, the vertebra can be put under a great stress, in turn, causes severe back pain. So instead…try these 5 body weight alternatives and work on the same muscles that are intended to target which are internal and external obliques. Unfortunately, too many people only target their oblique muscles with exercises that only factor in one of those functions, if they target their obliques at all. Side bends and plate dips can only go so far in a well-balanced program.
