Conor Harris on Instagram: "The glute med is important, but I find myself disappointed with how often it gets blamed for so many hip issues.

It’s not solely at fault. If a muscle is supposed to control the action of a joint and/or create that joint action, but that joint doesn’t have that mobility available in the first place, then how is the muscle supposed to do its job??

You can work on your glute med all day long, but until your hip can access the necessary movement qualities, the glute med will always seem “weak” and unable to control the hip.

Maybe your hip is hiking up not because your glute med is weak, but because your hip itself is looking for space to move into a given position you can’t access.

Then your glute med realizes it can’t do it’s job.

Ravash Nahavandi on Instagram: "Your glutes aren’t ‘deactivated’—that’s a myth. Often, poor movement patterns and weak sensory feedback from your joints reduce how effectively they engage. Improving joint mobility and strength helps enhance this feedback, making muscles like your glutes activate properly.

If you’ve been doing glute activation exercises and they aren’t working, it could be because your joints lack the strength and capacity to support the movement. By focusing on joint health and range of motion, you can improve how your body moves, leading to better glute activation, stronger performance, and fewer injuries.
