  • Handles both primitive and boxed NaNs.
  • Avoids calling Lodash methods inside Lodash internals — no recursion!
  • Safe across realms (e.g., iframes, VMs).
  • Avoids legacy quirks like ActiveX and non-standard behaviors.

I've been in support of this for a very long time. Last time it came up they said this was on purpose because NaN is a number in spec? But it defeats the purpose of a utility library to begin with. If we weren't accounting for edge cases like this, we'd just write flippant off the cuff custom utils.
