With vitrification, a widely-used method for cryopreservation of oocytes and embryos, CPAs are used in markedly higher concentrations (30% or more) than those of conventional methods (slow freezing method: approximately 10%); the use of CPAs at high concentrations decreases the survivability of mammalian oocytes and embryos before freezing (Rall, 1987; Fahy et al., 1990; Shaw and Jones, 2003; Edashige et al., 2007; Yavin and
Arav, 2007).
Human serum samples obtained from HPS patients during 1998-2005 were analyzed by immunoglobulin (Ig) M capture ELISA by using antigens for Andes virus and
