These authors suggest the presence of subtropical open forest communities dominated by angiosperms, with an abundant gymnosperm component dominated by Classopollis and, to a lesser extent, by conifers such as Taxodiaceae--Cupressaceae, Pinaceae and Araucariaceae; Pteridophytes, however, seem to have played a less significant role in the plant communities of this interval.
