Snow, Snow, Snow

You have to remember I have been walking for a while, but I have never walked in snow before. You have to learn to walk all over again. I think I did pretty well for a first-timer.

Mom plunked me on top of this mountain of snow and it started to freeze my little tooshy! That is why I don't look so comfortable. But it was fun to sit way up high .

Mom and I sure had fun outside together. We both loved the chance to be out, and it was new and exciting.
Did I mention that it's also hard to walk or move because I'm bundled so tight and stiff?! All I can do is waddle.

After we had been out for a little while I was finally getting the hang of standing up in the snow. I don't really care that it's cold. I guess we are living in the right place.

You'll see more posts of me in snow- guaranteed.

The Reason

This video could go without explanation except that I want to shed some light on this clip. We had just decorated the tree and he was discovering it for the first time. He had never seen a "baby Jesus" or a Nativity yet, and I did not point the Nativity ornament out to him and he said "Jesus" all on his own, as if to say he recognized Him and what the Nativity symbolized. I am glad I had the camera rolling at that moment to catch a tender reminder that children do not need to be taught or reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, we are the ones needing to be taught and reminded.

P.S. Did you notice how he turned the ornament around as I was zooming closer to help me get a shot at what he was looking? I could just kiss him and squeeze him so tight!

We've Moved!

We haven't had a lot of time or access to blog lately since we just moved. We are typing this from a community computer (and someone else is waiting). Furthermore, we won't be updating until we have our own internet...check back periodically, but I don't know for sure when that will be. Happy Thursday!

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa's House

My grandma and I just finished playing a fun little game and she's giving me one of her best "anaconda squeeze" hugs. She's pretty good at those.

These two pictures were actually taken almost one right after another, but you would never know it by the different lighting. That's one of the strange things about digital cameras. You just change the setting and voila! it's a totally different looking picture.

So I saw Grandpa get on his tractor and I knew just what to do...hop right up on his lap like I've seen all the other kids do with their dads and grandpas. It was even more fun that it looked. Thanks for a fun ride!

I have the coolest aunts in the world. They played with me the whole time I was there practically. And I especially liked it when we went outside. Read on to see why.
This is their dog, Abi, which I learned to say really quickly. In case you couldn't tell, dogs are my favorite animal, bar none. You could say I have an obsession because I talk about them all the time, look at them on YouTube, wake up in the morning and from naps saying "puppy." My mom said that I even said puppy in my sleep the other night. What can I say? They are so much fun. Speaking of fun, check out this video:

The Beach

My family went on a really fun trip to Hilton Head Island this summer with all of my daddy's mom's family. We went swimming every day and I had my first taste of sand and saltwater. Neither one were my favorite. I loved sitting in the water and getting splashed by the waves. Luckily none of the sharks that were lurking had me for lunch. I rode on the back of my daddy's bike while we rode around the island. One morning while we were riding on the beach, we saw four or five dolphins splashing in the ocean and one ginormous hermit crab. I took really long naps, crawled up and down the stairs in the beach house, and played with my cousins. That pretty much sums up the week.

Little Rookie

In baseball terms, when a player completes his first year he is no longer considered a rookie. Well, I was a little rookie and I just turned one. I finished my first year, and I must say it has been a good one.
This is my first time seeing and touching a flame. It didn't hurt when I got near it, but everybody acted like it would because the next thing I knew there was a cupcake sitting on my tray without a candle in it.
This is my first time eating cake and frosting. My dad also gave me a taste of ice cream. Yum!
And in this picture I am opening my present from my grandma. Thanks Grandma! And thanks for the books too! I feel really special.

Trip to the Park

My parents took me to the park the other day; I can't believe this was the first time I had ever actually played at a playground! All you kids out there should ask your parents to take you to the park, they are holding out on you if they don't. It was the coolest place. There were swings that even I could ride in without being held, a bazillion cool slides, and these fun things you could walk across and everything. Check out the pictures.

We played and played and I tried out every slide at the playground. At first I couldn't decide which one I liked best, but definitely I like the ones where you slide down really fast. The twirly ones are pretty cool too. It was funny because all of a sudden it started raining, so we had to run to the car, but I didn't mind. We had a lot of fun. Maybe we can go back soon.

Did I Mention I'm Walking Now?!

The Finer Things in Life

This might look like I am trying to eat my foot, but really I was just trying to get Mom's attention so we could go on a walk. My feet are so chunky I couldn't really eat them, I don't think they would taste very good anyway.
Nope, they didn't taste very good. I think there was something on the bottom of them from when I was cruising around earlier today. My feet do get kind of dirty, but I really don't like wearing shoes. Mom and Dad tried to get me to wear sandals to church a couple of weeks ago, and I had one of them pulled off and in my mouth before the first hour was over! I didn't really care about the other one, so I just left it on. I'm still cute barefoot.
So we finally went on a walk, which we do quite often these days. I love being outside during the summer. It reminds me of the time when I was first born and my dad would take me outside when I was kind of sad. As you can tell, I got pretty tired from all of that riding and much to my mom's chagrin, I fell asleep before we got back to the house. I didn't have a bath or put my pjs on, and it wasn't even my bedtime yet. Hey, a kid's gotta do what a kid's gotta do.

I have discovered a new and wonderful food... watermelon! I didn't even have to wear a shirt when I ate it because mom let me gnaw on such a big chunk and juice was going everywhere. Mom told me that she ate a lot of watermelon before I was born, so maybe that is why I love it so much. I think there is some correlation because she said her mom (my grandma) ate a lot of pickles before she was born and my mom likes pickles. I even saw her drink a little pickle juice the other day after she pulled a pickle out of the jar! I don't know if I would like pickles, I haven't tried them yet.

Easter Egg Hunter Xtraordinaire

It may look like all I am doing is holding this egg, but I am really having a good time hunting for eggs. Holding the basket with my mouth actually frees up my hands to grab more eggs; I have this under control.
This egg tastes pretty good, but I think the insides are even better.

I have pretty good dexterity while picking up these eggs. I don't really know what that means but my mom tells me that I am developing my pincer grasp and that I am learning to do things on my own. I am also learning to crawl pretty well now -- I'll post more on that later.

The eggs in the tree were kind of placed there unfairly, so to overcome the height disadvantage, my parents helped me reach them.
This one smells okay....jelly beans, no wait, Starbursts.

Let me explain my attire for the day. Down South it is not usually in the 40s the day before Easter, but today we were not going to forgo such a fun tradition for a little chilly wind. I got to find all of the eggs, my dad got to eat what was inside. It was a pretty sweet deal!

Not The Green Goblin

Is it true that chicks dig a guy in shades? It isn't easy being so cool. I surprise even myself that I enjoy wearing glasses and hats so much. I also love playing with that big old bear you see behind me. When we wrestle I usually win. The same goes for when my daddy and I wrestle. It isn't hard to see why, if you know what I mean. I have some serious guns and a washboard six pack, hidden by a couple of spare tires, of course. I also pull the drooly, wet kiss trick on him sometimes. That one never fails me.

I basically love the taste of everything that goes in my mouth these days, and I sure do get a variety. I would have to say that my favorites right now are bananas with sweet potatoes coming in at a close second. Contrary to what my mom says, those pureed, canned peas aren't too bad either. Sunglasses aren't too shabby, but I would prefer them a little sweeter.

So this guy and I are pretty close. I see him a lot and he always smiles at me. We have grown to be pretty good friends, though he's not much for wrestling with me. I think he'll stick around for a really long time. Isn't that what good friends are for?

The doctor said that it was going to change my look a little bit, but that it was necessary. He assured me that I will grow into them. I think that is what the lady meant when she said I have a big head, but I'll grow into it too. So do you think the glasses suit me well? I am not so sure.

An Introduction

Hi there! I'm Xander. You're probably wondering why I brought you here today. My daddy says to bloggers of the world "I'll never join you" and my mommy says, "Honey, you just need to calm down a little bit. They are both smiling when they say it, but I decided if anyone was ever going to see me I had to take matters into my own hands. I was born way last July, so I'm getting pretty big now. My mommy and daddy tell me everyday that I'm the cutest little guy in the whole world. I'll let you be the judge. I like to talk a whole lot and my daddy thinks I say his name the most, but I love my mommy too. She is the food factory after all.

I really like to jump in my jumperoo.
You should see how fast I can get going and how strong my legs are. I also like to roll around and sit and play all by myself.

I'm getting close to crawling, but I don't think I am quite ready to move to that developmental stage.

I really like to eat and put anything in my mouth - especially if it's shiny. I get really excited and flap my arms and kick my feet if I see anything electronic, if it has power, or makes a lot of noise. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up though. So, enough about me. What do you think about me?

I'm learning what growing up is all about, but it isn't too painful yet. I have two new teeth, see? It's really fun to bite down on things now that I have them. Mommy and daddy don't think so for some reason. I'm not a total gummer anymore.

Most people say that I look just like my daddy. We do look a lot alike and that makes my daddy proud of me. I hope I can be just like my dad when I get bigger and this hat actually fits me.

I like getting kisses and I give really good ones too.

I think mommy and daddy are on to me, so I better get going. This last one is just a picture of all of us together. We look really happy, me especially, because we are. I love my family so much. Thanks for spending some time with me.
