"חמור מצרי" based on the Yerushalmi**.

The פוטים are  Libyans. They intermarried with the Egyptians
Therefore, Kalir refers to them as the Mitzrim.

* On אחרון של פסח, other Paytonim use the term פוט & פוטים
for the מצרים.

** Mentioned in the past, Kalir generally follows the Yerushalmi

*איש הנקרא בעל השעיר

R. Avrohom  (from) Troy writes in the הקדמה to his Sefer,

"He once dreamt on Friday night, פרשת בשלח, that he sat
at a table
with a very old man with a white beard and long hair.

The old man asked him, " Who is the greatest נביא and R.AT

replied "משה רבינו." The man then questioned why Moishe waited

to sing the שירה until after קריעת ים סוף, noting all other נביאים

delivered their נבואה before the event.

R.AT answered that משה רבינו was concerned that the

בני ישראל who weren't strong in their אמונה won't believe

him and won't say the שירה. He waited until after קריעת ים סוף.

Only then did it become ויאמינו בה' ובמשה עבדו -
אז (when
they believed) ישיר --.

"The old man accepted the answer with simcha."

R.AT continues that he always felt that the old man
in the
dream was אליהו הנביא.

One day, he (R.AT) saw the תשובת מהר"ם who wrote the
following story.**

רבינו אפרים (baalei hatosfos). had a dream

that an old man who was hairy (long hair) had a הדרת פנים

and a long beard, served him a bowl of insects.

R. Efraim asked him why he was serving him טריפות. The old

man answered that, being He eats Barbuta fish, which is not kosher, he deserves a bowl of שרצים.

R. Efraim said that the old man was

אליהו הנביא. From then on, he refrained from eating Barbuta fish.

R.AT writes that after he saw this story and the description of the old man, he became convinced that the old man he saw   (with the long hair) in his dream was אליהו הנביא

            ANSWER TO RIDDLE

  2. Yam Suf- Red Sea

  3. Yam Ukyanus –Atlantic Ocean

  4. Yam Hamelech – Dead Sea

  5. Yam Kineret

  6. None of the above

  7. All of the above

According to Tosfos, the correct answer is # 6,
"none of the above"

תוספות מס' ערכין ט"ו  ד"ה כשם

The בני ישראל did not cross the ים סוף and emerge
on the other side of the ים סוף.

Rather, when they arrived at the Sea, they were
surrounded by the Mitzrim. Hashem opened up
a path for them in the ים
to bypass them and

emerge on the same bank of the ים סוף.. (further south)

NO PROBLEM WITH קול אשה

According to the רמ"ע מפאנו*, both men & women were
obligated to sing and sang the שירה at the ים סוף.

There was no problem with קול אשה being there was
no יצר הרע at that time & that place.

The Shver insisted

*ובני ישראל יוצאים ביד רמ"א

*The one & only day of the year ר' יוחנן
wore Tefilin, was on חול המועד פסח.

( רא"ש ברכות פ"ג ס' ל"א (ע"פ נוסח הרושלמי שהיה להרא"ש*

R. Akiva Eiger zt"l brings a ראיה (proof) from a Rashi
in Sukah 46a that one is obligated to wear Tefillin on
Chol Hamoed.

The תנא קמא holds if one has many Mitzvos to perform,
(at the same time) he should make one Bracha "על המצות"

Rashi gives an example of how one has many Mitzvos
at the same time, for instance, לולב סוכה תפילין ציצית

The son in law of R Akiva Eiger Zt"l, R. Shmuel Birenbaum zt"l
writes when he came the
first time to his Shver (R. Akiva Eiger zt"l)
on Chol
Hamoed Pesach. His Shver insisted, he put on

Tefillin**, even though his family was from a Chasidic

background and didn't wear Tefillin on Chol Hamoed.

R.A.E. claimed that in Germany & all the surrounding

countries, it was accepted to follow תורת משה,

the רמ"א, in all his Pesakim, wherever he argues

on the בית יוסף.

*Chasam Sofer Oc"h 31:2
**from then on he wore Tefillin on Chol Hamoed ,

with no Bracha and made a Tenai

The מהרש"ל was not too concerned with the זהר
who writes that one who wears תפילין בחוה"מ
is חייב מיתה

Excerpts from הגש"פ ואת עמלינו

Some of the Halachos heard on the phone
during Covid 19 from מורי ורבי הרה"ג ר' שלמה מילר שליט"א
at his במקום שבת הגדול דרשה

1) One should not order Chametz before Pesach from
Amazon, etc., to be delivered after Pesach.

2)  Garbage bins belonging to the municipality may be filled
with Chametz if put out on the curb before Pesach.

3) Burning Chametz requires a one-piece כזית or combined
smaller pieces totaling a  כזית but then it needs to be in one כלי.

4) One can do ביעור חמץ by placing a כזית חמץ on a fork and
burning it over a candle.

5) According to some, you can't Kasher a quartz countertop.
Some consider crushed stone as חרס.

7) The Torah specified only כלי חרס can't be Kashered.
Anything else could be Kashered. Therefore some hold
one may Kasher even plastic etc.

8) Most alcohols in hand sanitizers are not made from
grain, and one can rely on רוב that it's not חמץ.

9) Those who Daven מוסף ביחידות on the first day of
Pesach should stop saying משיב הרוח ומוריד הגשם at
מוסף (not at Mincha)
(Even Nusach Ashkenaz in Chutz Laaretz)

However, If you did say משיב הרוח at מוסף, there is no
need to repeat the מוסף.

My Rebbie's חומרא for Pesach-
Don't be מקנה the מצות to your guest at the סדר

Mori V'Rabi Harav Hagaon R. Shlomo Miller Shlita said,*

"Food that the owner has a right to eat, even if there are some
restrictions on them are considered to belong to him.

Therefore, one is   עובר על בל יראה ובל ימצא on לחמי תודה
being it's considered enough of לכם just by having the right
to eat them (רשות אכילה)

Similarly, one is יוצא אכילת מצה with מעשר שני, and it is considered
his just because he has  רשות אכילה even though there are other
restrictions on מעשר שני.

Accordingly, if one is invited to the Seder, there is no need
for the host to be מקנה the Matzos to the guest
. There is no need for the Matzos to fully belong to the guest. Having a רשות אכילה is enough ownership to be יוצא."

Since it is not necessary to be מקנה, R.S.M suggested that
perhaps it is better not to be מקנה the Matzos on Yom Tov.

Doing a קנין on Yom Tov is only allowed when it is a Mitzvah.
If there is no need to do it then there is no Mitzvah and one
may not do a קנין.

דרשת שבת הגדול תשע"ט"

                                                      אליהו הנביא
Can he show up at the Seder?

Many believe that אליהו הנביא actually appears at every Seder table on Pesach Night. Some believe we open the door at שפוך חמתך so he can enter and drink from the כוס that was prepared specifically for him.

כוס של אליהו is not mentioned in Bavli, Yerushalmi, Rambam, or Shulchan Aruch. The first to mention it is the חק יעקב  ( O Ch. 480).*

The משנה ברורה writes it is called כוס של אליהו to remind us, the same way Hashem redeemed us from מצרים, so too will he redeem us and send אליהו הנביא with the בשורה of Moshiach's arrival. (not on Yom Tov)

Others say that the reason is because there is a מחלוקת if you
need 4 or 5 cups. אליהו הנביא will solve this dispute.

The ערוך השלחן writes, "Some have a מנהג to stand up and say
ברוך הבא. All this is to strengthen the אמונה. In ניסן Hashem redeemed us, and in ניסן, he will redeem us again.

Opening the door is also to show our אמונה in ביאת המשיח.

Hopefully, אליהו הנביא will appear in the very near future
ויבשר לנו בשורות טובות.

However, there is no מקור that אליהו הנביא actually
appears at the  Seder.
According to the גמרא (Eruvin 43a), אליהו הנביא can't
& won't appear on YomTov or Shabbos.

*The פסקי תשובות quotes the מהר"ל (70-80 yrs. before theחק יעקב)  in דברי נגידים.
The truth is that the דברי נגידים is a forgery and not from the מהר"ל but
R. Yidel Rosenberg's z"l
  own invention.

THE FIFTH SON

        אחד1 חכם - אחד2 רשע -
    אחד3 תם - ואחד4 שאינו יודע לשאול

The last Lubavitcher Rebbe, R.M.M. Schneerson zt"l, said The sequence of the four sons goes
in order from good to bad to worse.

The רשע is in a better position than the the & תם
שאינו יודע לשאול. The רשע can turn over and
become a Tzadik בשעה אחת in a very short time.

Whereas to stamp out ignorance and עמי הארצות,
takes lots of time, energy & effort.

The Rebbe said there are different levels of
עמי הארצות. We have a תם  and a
שאינו יודע לשאול who both attend the Seder.
They at least know it's Yom Tov and the
need to sit down to a Seder.

There is, however, a fifth son who has
absolutely no knowledge at all of Pesach,
of a Seder, or any Mitzvohs, etc. This
son is even more of an ignoramus than
the שאינו יודע לשאול he doesn't
even attend a Seder.
(ע"כ)

-     -     -      -     -     -     -      -     -     -    -

The תורה speaks of only 4 sons
כנגד ארבעה בנים דברה תורה
Perhaps the fifth son is the
מכה אשר לא כתובה בתורה

In the הגדה, we can find the 4 stage
instructions on how to deal with the fifth son.

We start with  כל דכפין ייתי וייכול. All we ask him
to do is to join us for a meal and nothing more.

Then we get to 2) את פתח לו open up to him
which will get him to 3) וכאן הבן שואל. He will start
questioning By now, you can get to
stage 4) אף אתה אמור לו כהלכות הפסח and you can
teach him תורה

This is the עבודה at the Seder, stamping
out עמי הארצות, & being מבער ignorance.
