Two Gents and a Little Lady

The Baby Meet

In the first weekend in March, most of my family happened to be in Utah County.  My mom had been here for several weeks helping my brother with his new baby, and my dad had just flown in from a scary country that I'm not allowed to mention (doesn't that sound soooo mysterious?).  My little sister brought her little family down from Rexburg, and with the three of us that live in the valley already, that left only one sister absent, who lives in Tennessee.  We did manage to Skype with her together for a little bit, though.
We took the opportunity to gather together as an almost complete Piggott family to not only celebrate my dad's 60th birthday (Happy Birthday Dad!!!), but also to get the 3 newest Piggott cousins together for the first time.  My little sister, Robin, and her husband welcomed their first little baby into the world 5 weeks before Ember was born, and my little brother, Wes, and his wife welcomed their first little baby 5 weeks after Ember was born.  So the three newest Piggott grandchildren were each 5 weeks apart in age, and had never been all together in a room before.   It was  also my dad's first time meeting two of the three of them.
Apart from the abundant talk about diapers, breastfeeding, spit-up, bottles, naps, immunizations, milestones, etc, we were also able to capture quite a few fun pictures as well.

Ruth (with 10-week-old Ember), Robin (with 15-week-old Olli), and Wes (with 5-week-old Maddix)
If you are thinking that Ember looks a little drugged-out in the above picture, you would be correct.  She had received her 2-month immunizations that morning, and she was happily sedated with a little infant Tylenol.

Olli and Ember having a thigh-off.
After much deliberation and opinion-gathering, it was determined that, while Olli has rounder apple-cheeks, Ember has rounder marshmallow thighs (why can't those things be cute on moms too?!).

Wait, you're saying that the baby on the right is actually the older of the two?!

See what I mean about the thighs?  I take much pleasure in pinching and tickling those thighs each and every day.

A Maddix sandwich.
Poor little Maddix kept stretching out his legs, as if trying to make himself appear larger and more manly compared to the two females on either side of him.  Lots of rolly-polly thighs on that blanket.  Nom nom nom.

A picture says a 1000 words.
I had to include that last picture because Maddix's expression is priceless!  I'm not sure if he is freaked out by the amount of estrogen surrounding him, or because one of those girls is trying to hold his hand.  Love it!  I don't know when we will be able to get all these babies together again, with our family now being spread out through Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Tennessee, but we had so much fun!

Captain America Ninja

In case any of you were wondering what a Captain America Inja (Ninja) looks like, you are extremely lucky, for I have exclusive photos for you.

Well, there you have it.  Now you know.

Oh, and it has come to my attention that I apparently blog like it's 2007.  My apologies.  Oh well, I dress like it's 2002.

Brennen says...

From our conversation this morning.
Brennen (in a very whiny voice): My toy hammer is gone, and Tyler can't find it at his house.
Mom:  What is your toy hammer doing at Tyler's house?  You know you are not supposed to take your toys to your friends' houses.
Brennen (in a very exasperated voice):  In the night, when we were sleeping, they just magically pushed over there!
Mom:  Fascinating!

Grins and giggles

Ember has officially offered us a real laugh.  I was even able to capture this milestone on a fabulous video.  But first, a little bit of trivia:
What caused this sudden expression of amusement?
a) a parent making googoogaagaa noises
b) a brother doing a silly dance
or
c) the ceiling fan

Unfortunately for my ego, the correct answer was C.

Ember coos

Okay, this is nothing special or spectacular.  Just a cute little video of Ember playing in her bouncer, that will mostly be enjoyed by grandparents and myself.  She, at 2 months, is starting to learn what Tayson did at 5 months.  That is that if you bounce your foot while in the bouncer, it will make the dangling toys dance.  These toys are her friends, and she talks to them frequently.  And you might notice that even if her 98th percentile body isn't quite dainty, her adorable little voice is.  :)

The nursery

Back in early November, I got a wild crazy idea to repaint the nursery.  The way the room was painted when we bought the house was very cute, if a little busy.  I originally thought I wanted to keep it that way.  However, with my addiction to pinterest, my dormant creative juices started flowing, and I decided to act a little domestic and start decorating.  :)  Having never painted a wall in my life, I was not too sure how my husband would feel about me experimenting in our new home.  So, I did the only logical thing and  kept it a secret decided to surprise him.
Knowing how big a project it would be, and how hugely pregnant and awkward I was, I recruited my willing sister, Kerilee, into joining me.  She didn't have much more experience than I did, so we knew it would be an adventure for us both.
Here are the BEFORE pictures:

The lower 2/3 of the walls were white, with a border of flowers that were half painted, half sticker.  The top 1/3, as well as the ceiling (I have since decided that I will never EVER paint a ceiling anything other than white), was a bright sky blue with white clouds and butterflies that were, again, part paint and part sticker .  Separating the lower white walls and the upper blue walls was a multi-colored polka-dot border.
I decided to paint the ceiling white, so that it would never have to be painted again, no matter what color the walls were.   The walls, however, I decided to paint a very pale green.
After a rough start with a minor fiasco involving some spray primer, Kerilee and I got busy applying the many, many coats of primer and paint that is required when painting such pale colors over such bright, bold colors.
Here are the AFTER pictures (pictures were unwisely taken during the bright part of the day - sorry.):

The glide rocker was a gift when Tayson was born, and given a major cleaning, using THIS product (thank you Pinterest).  The changeing table was a gift from my friend, Kristin Cable (given a fresh coat of paint by me).

The dresser was a clearance find at Shopko, and the crib was a gift from my neighbor, Anneli Alvey.  The cute Button wallhanging was found at Rodworks.  The curtains are a bit on the frilly side, admittedly, but that is my privilege with my first daughter.  :)

And the blanket - the blanket I crocheted just for Ember.  I have crocheted literally dozens of full-sized and baby afghans for various friends and relatives, but this the first blanket I have crocheted for one of my own kids, sadly.

The cutest part of the bedroom, however, is this:

While there is nothing super-fancy or extraordinary about this room, I still take a lot of pride in it, and look forward to other decorating projects around the house.
