Hey there,
Today's post is an Ode to Black and White Design.
Casablanca, Charlie Chaplin, Cruella De Vil, we'we seen it before...but sometimes we forget how powerful simplicity can be. "Less is more" is a trendy saying, but why don't we see more of it then?
One of my friends started a blog recently. She draws her own comics, as a hobby, and has now decided to share them online. What's very characeristic of her comics is the minimal choice of colors and speech bubbles that are only present if they really need to be there. Judge for yourself : http://matildesolgaard.blogspot.com/
I like black and white photography: how intense a portrait can seem without any other colors that in the end might just disturb the eye, rather than adding meaning to the picture.
I like black and white dresscode. Elegance for me is not about adding a bunch of jewelry on yourself and wearing black and white do not equal boring, but its elegance depends on the way we use and style it - like every other color choice.
By that I don't mean that I don't like colors - I do! Although using colors thoughtfully can be more powerful than wanting to include rainbows in everything you create.
I'll end with a quote: " The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!" (Coco Chanel)
Now go play with colors! :)

street art.it

Today's post is a small collection of street art. I took some pictures on my way to school the other day and here is the result:
The first two pictures speak on their own.
I call them:
"Beauty comes from the inside"
and
" The Road of Life"
As a general comment to these pictures, I'll quote the French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau:
" I only meditate when I walk. As soon as I stop, I stop thinking, my mind only works with my legs."
Another graffiti that caught my attention was this one. The text in itself means: " The only one" which represents eternal love in contrast to the first 3 letters that look like they're bleeding. The color contrast is also interesting: red and pink. The bloody red color against the fluffy pink.
A Smart car I thought looked cute, because with these colors it looks like a bee. bzzz ...bzzz
Christmas is for everybody! Here's the proof...

accesorize.it
Hi,

I found two pairs of wonderful Christmas earrings at a christmas market two days ago.
They are made of tiny Christmas balls. I think it could easily become this year's Christmas trend regarding accesorizes. I have already used the red pair at a party yesterday and I plan to wear them on Christmas Eve, if not before that aswell. The purple ones have been chosen to wear on New Year's Eve, where I'm going to wear a dress with purple sleeves.
I looked around online and I found these links. Check them out if these earrings have caught your interest:

Hi there,
The Christmas countdown has begun! This year I got a Christmas calendar with a package per day (thank you mom!). Here is the content of the first present I opened today: a moleskine city notebook for Stockholm! A very nice handbook that I will bring with me for the Christmas holidays that I'll spend in Sweden this year :)
Happy Christmas countdown to all of you!

Hello!
Have you seen the latest Philips commercials?
Their motto is " Express yourself everyday". I like that way of thinking and it inspires me.

It doesn't have to be much, but can simply be a new little thing you create everyday and there are many different ways to express yourself. Here is a list of websites that I find inspiring at the moment:

decorate.it
Hi there,
Today's post is about decorative items. In this case round decorative items that I've placed in my appartement:
This first serie of pictures shows round coasters made of felt.
As you can see I use them for different things: to place my everyday life items on or I put them together as a nice pattern to bring more colours to an otherwise neutral surface.
I like the fact that they are simple in their design and that they work as well alone than all together.

I've noticed that vinyl records and their associated players are getting popular again. This wall decoration is made of fake vinyl records made of plastic that were used to promote a music festival in 2010. I kept them and got the idea to make this wall decoration out of them.
Maybe you prefer another shape than these circles, but I hope that you still found this post inspiring
and got new creative ideas to decorate your place.

storage.it
Today's post is about notebooks and how to storage your creative ideas.
When I was in Paris last summer I bought 2 new notebooks from the brand "storage.it".
They are amazing!
They exist in many different colours - Here are the
two colours I bought.
The notesheets have lines to write on...

...but don't be afraid of filling the notebook up too quickly with your ideas - the notebook inside the cover is replacable! You might even be able to switch it out with a notebook without lines so you can draw in it instead - if you can find the right format.
The notebook's cover provides it with extra storage space in the back that you can use for businesscards or other little things you want to hang on to.
It also has space for your favorite pen!
That's how the entire cover looks like.
As you maybe have noticed the cover has a zip on the right side - yes, you can open it!
This is the feature of this notebook - you can storage things everywhere - even in the cover!
I can recommend these notebooks that really live up to their name "storage.it". They help you to keep track of your stuff and make organizing items fun.
Really great design
- Full of possibilities, has a practical format and most of all it is reusable.
I hope you found this post inspiring and got new ideas to how to storage your ideas.

Tutorial 1: domino earrings
Today's tutorial is about how to make original earrings out of Hama mini beads:
Here is what you'll need:
- Hama mini beads in black and white.
- 1 Hama mini pegboard (squared).
- tweezers (makes it much easier to handle the mini beads! )
- 2 earhooks.
- 2 o-rings 4 mm.
- combination pliers ( a must have for this tutorial! )
- baking paper.
- an iron and an ironing board.
...and requires some patience and time.

I've bought the beads at my local hobby store, but here's a link to the official webshop: http://www.hama.dk/welcome-to-a-colorful-world-of-beads/.

Squared pegboard.

Dominos under construction.
Place the black beads first and then complete with the white ones - it's the easiest way.
What to do next:
- After placing the beads on the pegboard, bring the board with the two dominos carefully to your ironing area.
- Then place a piece of baking paper on top of the pegpoard and iron the dominos with a high temperature to melt the beads together.
- Don't iron on the same spot for too long and when the dominos are sticking to the baking paper, slowly seperate the baking paper with the dominos on from the pegboard.
- If you want to be sure the beads will stay in place you can iron on the other side of the dominos aswell.
- Let them cool down for about 5 min under a heavy book to make sure that they stay flat.
- When your dominos are cold and flat, use the combination pliers to place an o-ring 4 mm on each domino and remember to put the earhooks on the rings before you close them again.
TADA..! THE RESULT:

If you haven't seen Spielberg's Tintin movie yet, I can really recommend it!
I've seen it for the second time today and it is still as good as the first time. The intro is nicely made and the style and the way the story is put together in the movie is impressive. I grew up with the Tintin comic books and watched the cartoons on television, but you don't have to be the ultimate Tintin fan or Spielberg admirer to be amazed by this movie.
If you like to watch a movie where you can see that they really put a lot of effort into every single little detail and is able to entertain you from start to finish - then this movie is a must see!

Oh, and watch it in 3D - it's worth it!

" The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes "
- Marcel Proust
I made it. I created this blog.
A blog that is based on the idea of letting yourself do what makes you happy.
Sometimes you have to make the wrong choice before you realize what you truly want.
This is what this blog is for: to allow old ideas come to the surface and give the new ones space to grow.
Marcel Proust has a point. Often the ideas have already been there it's just a matter of being able to see them or let yourself discover them in a new way. Let it be an inspiration to you too...
