- V embryologii odkazuje pojem fylotyp na koncept, podle nějž se v embryogenezi zachovává takzvané fylotypové stadium, během nějž se embrya druhů ze stejného kmene, se zdají být velmi podobná. V taxonomii odkazuje pojem fylotyp na pozorované podobnosti, jež řadí skupiny organismů podle jejich vztahu. Tato fenetická podobnost může obzvláště v případě asexuálních organismů odrážet evoluční vztahy. Termín je nezávislý na taxonomické kategorii, takže je možné zvolit úroveň, na které bude fylotyp popsán, např. druh, třída, 97% genetické podobnosti či homologie. Termín se často používá v mikrobiologii, neboť prokaryotní genomy není možné klasifikovat dle zdaleka tak snadno, jako mnohá eukaryota typu rostlin či živočichů. (cs)
- Das phylotypische Stadium (engl.: phylotypic stage) ist ein Entwicklungsstadium während der Embryonalentwicklung bei Tieren, insbesondere bei Wirbeltieren, bei dem sich Embryonen der unterschiedlichen Klassen eines Tierstamms stark ähneln. In diesem Stadium zeigen die verschiedenen Mitglieder eines Tierstammes ein hohes Maß an Übereinstimmung in ihrer Morphologie und inneren Organisation. Die Ähnlichkeiten während der Embryonalentwicklung wurden erstmals von Karl Ernst von Baer schon früh im 19. Jahrhundert festgestellt und von Friedrich Seidel in den 1960er Jahren erkannt. Dieses Stadium, bei dem die Körpergrundgestalt mit Neuralrohr, Chorda, Somiten, Schlundtaschen und ventraler Herzschlauch erstmals erkennbar ist, wurde 1983 nach einem Vorschlag des Freiburger Entwicklungsbiologien und Zoologen Klaus Sander „phylotypisches Stadium“ genannt, das heißt, das Stadium, das für einen Tierstamm (Phylum) typisch ist. Recent molecular studies in various plant and animal species were able to quantify the expression of genes covering crucial stages of embryo development and found that during the morphologically defined phylotypic period the evolutionary oldest genes, genes with similar temporal expression patterns, and genes under strongest purifying selection are most active throughout the phylotypic period.
