Dodge Park in April

Dodge Park is a wonderful spot to bicycle, walk, hike, rollerblade and look at wildflowers and wildlife.

The third picture is from the conservatory, a close-up of one of the cacti shown from the Xerophyllic room.

The fourth and 5th are two of my recent new quick small sketches.

In the Xerophyllic Room at the Conservatory

There are lots of wonderful cacti and other xerophyllic plants in the desert room at the Conservatory on Belle Isle.

These are very quick sketches in a Moleskine that was returned from circulating among 12 other artists in my second moleskine group. I am filling in the blank pages.

The one on the left was designed as a companion piece to one done by AURORA FOX. I like hers better.

At the Conservatory

We often take out of town visitors to the Conservatory, and we were blessed with an opportunity to do so. The conservatory is located on Belle Isle in Detroit and is full of wondrous plants. Here you see visitors, cacti and hibiscus. You can see more images of these things by clicking on the labels below on the right.

Cactus Buds at Belle Isle Conservatory

We are leaving today for points east: Upstate New York, Maine, New
Hampshire. We expect to be back on June 26. Leaving again on the
30th. I may or may not be able to get online, but since we'll be
ttraveling, I probably will be unable to post or comment much.

The Belle Isle Conservatory is a large lovely greenhouse on Belle Isle
in Detroit with a large collection of orchids and cactuses.

Christmas Cactus

In blossom at the Belle Isle conservatory. Mine at home are blossoming, too!
