JaCkPoT...

...well not the jackpot kind with money, but JACKPOT when it comes to pewter, jugs, and anything else that pertains to a Primitive ~ Colonial home :)

I was fortunate to find a few more Garage Sales not far from home. I am so happy that I decided to drop in and check them out!

One that I hit, had these wonderful pewter pieces that they were selling next to nothing. I scooped them right up and didn't say a word to anyone...LOL. In my neck of the woods, pewter is still not a demanding hot item. But jugs and crocks are becoming such a demand, with this being said, prices are getting higher. Bummer! But I was lucky enough to grab these two wonderful jugs and mini crock.
I am slowly trying to grow my pewter collection. I decided to go hunting on Ebay and boy oh boy was I ever happy that I won these two auctions that I bidded on. Again, I hardly payed anything.
I'll be sharing my new collection with you in another post. So far, I love every piece I have collected. I'll keep it under wraps for now in my town because once people find out that something is highly collectible, they start jacking up the prices...so shhhhhh for now ;)

I then went to the next garage sale and was tickled pink when I found all these goodies. I couldn't believe my own eyes...LOL
Another pewter piece (little dish), tiny little jug like (green item on the chair), this wonderful child's chair, corn pan, cheese box (not a antique but come on, I still couldn't leave it behind), two pie pans that have 'New England' etched into the tin. I thought of all you New England ladies when I snatched them up :)...and lastly my very first firkin! Oh boy was I excited to grab this find!

I also found this old basket that was used to pick potatoes. I believe that was the hardest job I ever did in my life. I also hated it and soon realized on day 1 I no longer wanted to pick potatoes but my father made me stick it out till the end. Let me tell you, I never asked to go potato picking again...LOL. But when I saw the basket, it brought back memories and in my neck of the woods, that was the most demanding job back in the day. I want to make a display outside with it. I also found this wonderful x-large plate that is in tan color but has a yellow ring around the rim. I really loved it! I have it displayed with my yellowware in my large cabinet.
....and last but not least, I went shopping to my fav new prim shop across the border. I snatched up some really awesome goodies to add to my decor...
I found myself a new peg board that is now in my bedroom, some dried flowers, blacken waxed sheep, couple small gourds, a tiny crock, two different kinds of flower picks for decor, couple little birdies, a beautiful stitched flower on wool and a cross stitch with the name Abigail.
Now, I have been busy tweaking here and there. I find one spot to place my new goodies but then you all know what it's like, it finds a new home...LOL. I have also been working on some of my finds, painting and such.

I'll be posting pictures very soon of my homestead with all the new goodies and all the changes. I am getting there...slowly but surely. My home is slowly becoming exactly what I have been trying to achieve. And I am loving it!

Here's wishing you all a wonderful week! Thanks for dropping by and stay tuned for some home pictures.

Until next time...

~ WoWsErS ~

How is everyone holding up with the weather situation? Either it's wicked hot and you can't stand the heat let along yourself or you are in hiding, praying that the bad storms will blow over...

It was made official that we were hit with a TORNADO last Monday. It's actually been our third tornado for the month of July. WHAT??? This was unheard of in our neck of the woods. What is happening??? The most recent storm was the worst by far. On Monday, it caused so much damage, how scary. It had a path and stuck to it...knocking anything down in it's path. Very large trees ripped out the ground or broken in really odd spots. As for us, it was more of a mess then anything. I was just disappointed because it seems like when I get once mess cleaned up, another hits us.

This is what we came home to...my gazebo torn, ripped and caved in. Some lawn furniture tossed around, alot of branches and leaves from the ALL the trees but as hubby said to me, thank god it was only material that suffered damages instead of ourselves. So true! But yet so disappointing. I really feel even more now for the ones who live this all the time. I don't know how you all do it???

At first I lost some plants but found them after searching and looking things over...

We even lost a piece of flashing off of the back of the house. Because we were scanning rather quickly to make sure there was no major damages. The next day, I found the flashing against the house...it's hiding behind the love seat frame...

Here are some branches that were on the ground. Alot of it had already been picked up but still lots more to go. We can't put this in the garbage so I guess it looks like we will be having a fire ;)

If we get one more really bad storm, I will completely loose my gazebo top. We just replaced it this Summer because the other one was 3 years old and sun fried it.

Now on to some fun things :)))
How about some new decor and another Garage Sale find???
Someone that I met told me about a Prim ~ Colonial store just across the border. I never knew
this place existed. Oh WOW!!! I forgot to bring my camera, the grounds, the buildings, and the house are just perfect! The pricing is also really good and that makes me happy ;) Now keep in mind, I went shopping some time ago and I am only getting to place my new goodies.

So many goodies...a set of 3 yellow ware bowls, a chocolate mold, small brown crock, 4 nubby candles, small star redware plate, corn holder, beautiful stitchery, twig wreaths, Old Village Paint (Brick Red) and a can of wax/varnish sealer. This store has become my new favorite...:LOL

I also went to the Prim Shop in the Mall and found these goodies :) I LOVE these flower bird feeders! They are too cute. And this basket, I have a home for it already along with the glass plate and my mini bird.

And then my MIL calls me to tell me that there was a junk garage sale across the street from her. She laughed and said it was my kind of junk. Oh boy, was I ever happy that I went!!! I really hit the jackpot with all the goodies that I got for $20...

A coffee brewing pot, green bottle, a good size bean pot, 4 old cookie cutters, pewter salt and pepper shakers, some real different kind of fork that has it`s own rest, a really old brush for shaving. The handle is made of pewter! And lastly old picture of a lady. I got the frame for .25, didn`t think I could go wrong with that. It will make a beautiful piece of decoration.

...and lastly these two purple chairs that I want to sand and paint black to go with my new table. They are pretty steady chairs...ohhh...so many things to do. I will get to that project thought.
We my friends...I want to thank each and everyone of you for stopping by and visiting. I shall run for now but still have lots of pics to share with you all. So until next time...

Time slipping on by...

Well Hello there...my name is Sandy :) Do you all remember me???

I can't believe that I have stayed away this long. I want to Thank the Ladies who emailed to check up on me. I am fine, just so busy, not enough hours in a day.

I am not even sure where to start off...I can't believe I haven't posted since May and now here we are, August. When did that happen?

I had something major that was suppose to take place back at the end of June. I was all set, pshycked up to go and hours before the big day, I get a phone call and it has now been post-poned till the end April 2012. I did alot of crying and did not want to talk to anyone. I needed to handle this on my own. I have now accepted it, but I am not happy that 10 more months of waiting has to take place. I think I cried so much, that I can't cry anymore.

But enough of that! I had to start keeping my mind busy...very busy! After talking it over and not having any house viewings, hubby and I decided we are no longer selling. I really wanted the other house but things happened with that in which it made our decision easier :) So since we are staying, I had told hubby and I making it even more of a home for me. NOT for others. Plus it looks like other plans may happen. I am a person who has to plan out the path for the future and when I hit a bumpy road, it throws me off track. But as my MIL tells me, everything happens for a reason. So NOT selling our house right now is the reason.

Hubby had his meeting a couple weeks ago with the BIG boss and he has plans for him. It looks like in the future, we will be owners of a Canadian Tire Store. We don't know where, which I have a hard time with but I can't sit and worry about it. This will be something very major for us and we are both quite happy about it. Since we will be owning our own store, that means we will have to move. So this is the reason we did not sell our house right now. That's what I am saying anyways ;)

So hubby and I have been busy turning the house into more of my decor and am I ever LOVING it! You see, we live in a Townhouse, a end unit. It's big but not that big. We use the entire living space in this house, sadly we have no storage room. So we purchased a rather large shed for all our storing. By doing this, we were getting ready to install our pool and found out that we did not have enough land for it. I was getting sooooo discouraged! We then went to where we purchased our pool, we were able to trade it for a hot tub! YEAH! We are very pleased with our decision. We will be able to use it ALL YEAR ROUND and not just the Summer. Besides, the Summer that we have been getting, we would not of had much swimming put it.

WOWSERS!!! We have been having severe thunderstorms in our area. Yesterday, a storm hit our town real hard. Some people are saying we didn't get a tornado but if you drive around town and see the damage, you would say YES it was a tornado. Not everyone was hit, only sections. ALOT of old, large trees were either split in half or up rooted. And I really mean up rooted, the entire thing and we are talking about trees that are hundreds of years old. Very scary! We have a very large mess here at home to clean up now. But today it's been down pooring with thunder...so I guess it will get done sometime this week.

Since we decided to go with a hot tub, hubby has been working very hard on our lower deck setting everything up for the hot tub. He installed a metal ceiling because when it rains, it goes straight downstairs. With the ceiling, it stays dry down there. I am slowly converting it too look more primitive. But now we have a large mess to clean up before we continue to work on it.
I'll take pics when it's all set up for you guys. It's like a little paradise for us :) And I have to admit, the hot tub is helping my aching bones. It feels so good and relaxing. Especially before bed...you sleep just like a baby.

Now let's get onto why I am here today :) I am sure you guys want to see what we have been up to RIGHT???

Well, I have hit quite a few awesome Garage Sales. Never did we have Garage Sales like this before. I was like a little girl in the candy store. I have some photos to share with you today and I will share some more treasures later on this week. I don't want to loose you all since this is already a rather long post. And besides, I need to tease you guys so you will come back ;)

Here is one Garage Sale Jackpot...They had soooo many crocks and jugs, it was so hard for me to choose just a few pieces. I could have bought it all but ya know...kinda of need more money ;)
The brown top jug is in mint condition! No chips or anything...the glass bottle is a baby bottle. It has a baby on it and it's a 8oz bottle. I never saw anything like this before. And then of course when I bought this large white crock/over sized mug thing. I didn't know what it was until I brought it home and someone told me. I had to laugh but was so pleased that I purchased it :) And since I am a New Brunswicker, Canadian, I had to have these old sap buckets for homemade maple syrop. I had a plan for them but never got to it this year. That's OK because next year, they will be put to use.
At the same Garage Sale, they had this extra large jug. It's quite large and in pretty good condition. I am trying to collect different kinds, don't want to duplicate. I wanted to have a jug or crock going up all the stairs. I am almost there :) I'll have to get a picture to show you all what it's looking like. I found this tiny crock, not sure what it would have been used for but I liked the look of it. A pewter piece...it's a beauty! And then this wooden bucket. Can someone tell me what these buckets would have been used for???
I then made a order from Farmhouse Primitives quite a few months ago...I LOVE their website! They have such wonderful pieces for a Primitive ~ Colonial Home. I had to wait for the pillow case cover to made by the weavers. I am so pleased with it! The pillow case now sits on my bed to add just that little splash of color. I forgot to get a pic of that...I will post later. I also ordered a feather quill...plans for that and a real beautiful piece of redware. She was having a sale, since it was such a good price, I had to get it.
As I mentioned, since we are no longer moving, we changed the entire house around. As I mentioned, the house is not too large...we use to have the dining room in the living room, the dining room was my computer area and a breakfast nook. But with Tabitha growing up and liking to have her privacy when friends are over. I told hubby that I needed my living room back on the main level. I LOVE the change!!!

We started off by painting the walls in this area. This was the only spot in the house that we did not paint when we painted the house back in the Fall. Since we have been here for 7 years now and I had the same paint color in my previous home, I told hubby it was time for a change :) It's called Shaker, the paint color...we went lighter...take a look...
The next pic is of the wall that goes from the living room to the dining room. It looks so much calmer...Since we were converting the living room back, we no longer had furniture for this area. I did not want to take the furniture out of the basement. We had a Garage Sale the end of May, so with the money we made, we purchased this love seat.
Not exactly what I wanted but it's the next best thing and besides, the price was perfect! As you can see, my babies have claimed it already.

My old table set was too large for the dining area and it was never what I really wanted. So I paid a visit to the man who builds all my large pieces and had him build me a table. All I could say was WOW when we went to pick it up. I am still schocked over the price he charged. I bet no one can guess how much this table cost me???
It's beautiful! I ordered two Colonial Style Chairs to place at each end. I am hoping they will be in this week. It took 8 weeks for them to come in...WOW! I am patiently waiting ;) We can fit 8 people at the table comfortably.

Look at the top of the table...all the knots and grain...
...and then look at the legs...
WOW!!! He and his wife are really awesome workers! They are very talented that is for sure.

I then had a cabinet made to go with the table. I am slowly collecting pewter and this is the cabinet that I want to put the pewter in. Since I took this picture, I have done alot of tweeking. I will show more updated pics. You can also see that I am slowly getting decorations up...
Once we got the walls painted...I told hubby that the walls were missing something. I would envy pictures of other homes. So we decided to go ahead and do this on our walls in the living room and the large wall that goes into the dining room...
What do you guys think??? Here's a close up...
...and here's some more...
I'm in LOVE...LOL...

It's all done now and looks awesome! I love it so much that I want my bedroom done in a different style now :) That will be more of a Fall project because we also want to do the stairs going up stairs. Right now, my goal is to get my house back in order.

Still lots to do...we have been working inside and outside. Big projects that I can't wait to finish. But when you own a house, the work is never done! But I am enjoying myself along the way...

I must run for now since more work is calling my name. But I promise I will be back this week to show you some more goodies that I have picked up at Garage Sales and a new Prim Store that I found :)

I hope to see you back...Until next time...

Sandy

~ Some new Goodies & A Happy Mother's Day ~

How has every one's week been going?

It's been rainy and cold here. Every where you look, everyone is on flood watch. The water levels keep rising, not a good sign. I pray everyone will get through this with no damage. The people around here suffered enough back in December when we had lots of rain. The bottom of the province suffered alot of damages. People lost homes, camps, store owners suffered major flooding and so on.

I wanted to share with you where I placed my goodies and I got 'me self ' some more sweet goodies ;)

Last weekend I attended a Baby Shower down river that was being held for a very good friend of mine. So of course before my journey to Fredericton, I had to make a pit stop to one of my new favorite antique stores.

Look at what I found...

A water pitcher made of pewter and it's a heavy one at that! I fell in love with this beautiful crock. I loved the look of it...and I have been wanting a old wooden box so I can put all my Prim Magazines in. I left as one happy girl...hehe

The wooden box on the side...

I placed the crock in my large red cabinet, replacing a reproduction one. I'm liking this one much more ;)

At this point, I had placed the pewter picture here but of course it's changed spots since...

...a close up of it, the handle is made of wood...

Once I left the antique shop, I headed on down to my friends for the Baby Shower. Our friends know that they are having a girl so it was a very pink shower :) Attending the shower, made me wanting another baby. No more for us, but that doesn't mean I can't spoil theirs ;)

Here's just a portion of the gifts that they received...

...and here is one of the things that I gave/made for them...
A crib size rag quilt. The colors don't show all that well in the pick but they are cream, pink and chocolate brown. Then come to find out, she decorated the baby's room in these colors. PERFECT! I love the colors so much that I want to make a larger one for Abby now. I can't wait for the sweet thing to be born (June 16)..I AM SO EXCITED FOR THEM!!! They have been waiting for this for a very long time. The father is turning 40 next year and he was starting to get worried that he wouldn't have children. His fiance is much younger but when you start approaching 40, it does start getting a little scary.

Now back to some more prim...hehe...

If you remember a couple weeks ago I purchased a old pipe box, it found it's new home here with a bunch of spoons and such.

I have been playing with my camera and now it takes big pictures and removes what is around the main item. Need to fix that. I have been trying to figure out how to turn off the flash so I can take pictures of my prints. I have them all framed and love how they look. But sadly, I will await to hang them up till I know if we sell or not. Still nothing yet...we are still waiting and praying...

My rolling pin collection is slowly growing, I moved my crock from one side of the desk to the other...

Awhile back I made a order from Farmhouse Primitives . I told her to wait and send out all my order when she had everything to ship. Well the other day I got my package and was sooooo excited. I kinda of forgot what I had ordered...LOL...but when I opened the box and saw this beautiful piece of redware, I let out a squeal :)))) Pam was having a sale and this was one item that was on sale. Of course every time I order from her, I am always very pleased with my goodies.

I also ordered these little bags with spice names on them. For the time being I placed them in my wooden bowl. I have plans for them, but once again, I will wait to see if we are moving or not. It all depends on the houses because I have one plan for here but another plan for the other house. Boy do I dream alot of the other house...LOL. I have the paint colors and plans all planned out...it's fun dreaming ;)

My last purchase was today...bad girl I know! I stopped at a new store here in town, as I walked through it nothing jumped out at me. Well the prices sure did...wowie she had some mighty expensive pieces in there. I told Abby not to TOUCH a think because alot of the things I wouldn't have been able to replace them. The lady bought a old house and turned it into a store...so as you continue on upstairs, she converted the bedrooms into a Christmas Room, Child's Room, Adults Room and Antique Room. I was thinking there is no way I could afford anything in the Antique Room after seeing the prices downstairs. But to my surprise, she was asking hardly nothing for the pieces I swiped up :)

I paid under $20 dollars for these four pieces...I was quite happy. I have never seen a tiny crock like this one before. Can someone tell me what it would have been used for? The candle holder is so heavy, not sure what it's made of but I really liked the patina on it. And then this mold, well, I have never been lucky to find any molds around here so when I saw this one I had to have it.

So as you all can see...I have been having fun...LOL. Now it's to place everything just right and of course right now that is not possible. We did have one visit to the house but the couple found it to be too full and said they couldn't live in tight quarters. So I have decided to limit some pieces of furniture in each room to make the house look roomier because it's not really all that small. I just have ALOT of stuff!

It was very hard for me to pack up some things and put them in storage but if I want to sell, I really need to do this.

For my next post, I take pics around the house so you can see how empty it looks. It's shows because I had friends over and they asked me what did I do with all my things??? So I pray this will help and the house will sell. People are just starting to shop now since Spring was so late coming.

I must run...some cuddle time with hubby and a movie. He's been working very hard at his new job. He hasn't had a day off for three weeks now. We haven't seen much of each other...but I guess that is life.

But before I sign off for the night, I want to wish all the Mother's out there a very 'Happy Mother's Day'. I hope everyone has a sunny, warm, family filled day. It's a day the men and kiddos get to spoil us :) Abby has something up, she has talked about this day all week. She even told me to stay in bed because they are serving me something in bed tomorrow morning. She is so funny because she has been dropping hints here and there all day :)
Until next time my friends...
