Friday October 5th I had a doctors appointment around lunch time and I made Tom come along because I was feeling like it was going to be the day baby came. I was really wanting to go into labor on my own but as it got closer I was having major anxiety and decided I wanted to get things going...It was a weekend, the 5th was a good day to be born etc....so the Dr. checked me out and said we were good to head on over to the hospital. We got checked in to Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake and quickly the excitement of what was going to take place that day settled in.
By 6pm I was in the delivery room and hooked up to monitors and the IV and ready to go. They started me on pitocin at 6pm. I had been at 4cm for a few weeks and totally effaced and so when they started me on pitocin things started moving along very rapidly! By 6:15 I started to have contractions 2-3 minutes apart so a nurse came in and broke my water and called my Dr. to come in. At 6:30 they gave me my epidural and then my doctor got there around 6:45. I started pushing at 6:55 and 5 minutes later a beautiful baby boy was born!!! I think the 5th would have been the day regardless!
One hour start to finish was a little too quick. I just remember that Tom and I were kind of in shock...it seriously happened so fast that it didn't seem real. I mean shouldn't there be a lot of drama in the delivery room?...shouldn't labor last hours and hours with the husband bringing endless amounts of ice chips, back massages and kind words of encouragement, and the wife screaming out in pain;)
Once again we were instantly in love with this new child strait from Heaven. The peace and calm that floods the room is indescribable...I love having babies! This baby was healthy and perfect and beautiful! I just sat and soaked in his little spirit!
Liam Carson Garner was born at 7:00pm weighing 6lbs 15oz, 18 1/2 inches long.
These next 5 pictures were taken by my Dad 30 minutes after Liam was born...his camera was doing something funky and gave us gray skin and hair in most of the pics...but they are still precious.
