Life in the Cold

The question in this house is when will summer begin?! While we enjoyed a white Christmas we are now ready for sun and fun! We can see why everyone is so into the outdoors here 'cause when the sun comes out you can't help but get out there and soak it up. Last week we had a couple of days of 70 degree weather and we just loved it. Each day we were outside enjoying the weather. But it quickly turned back to cold and snow, just a reminder that what everyone says out here is true if you don't like the weather in Missoula just wait five minutes :)

At any rate we are enjoying our new addition in the form of our new puppy Juno. She is growing like a weed, when we brought her home she was a tiny 10 pounds she has already grown to 20 pounds as of yesterday. She is very sweet and seems to be very smart; she knows 'sit' and 'wait'. Really she will do just about anything for a treat. Savannah is mixed on how she feels about the puppy some days they are best friends, others she looks at me as if to ask did you really need to bring another trouble maker into this house. Lots of fun and lots of learning have been created with this situation. We know this much we wouldn't take it back for anything in the world.

Savannah too is growing like a weed she currently has another new tooth coming this time it is a molar, a lot of tears are being shed right now. Poor girl, we are really feeling for her. She talks all the time in fact any new word she learns you can guarantee will be repeated 20 to 30 times throughout the day. It is great we have learned a new language in this house it is called toddler. Here are some more pictures of Savannah and the puppy enjoying the sun. Enjoy!

Busy Time

We have been soooo busy these past couple months we have barely had time to sit down and write and email let alone post a blog. After we went to Seattle for Lauren's Grandfathers funeral we came home and had about a day before Lauren was off again to Florida to a friends wedding. The wedding was gorgeous and so was the weather, made coming back to snowy (at the time) Missoula pretty difficult. We had ourselves a little bit of down time and then we were off again for Easter at Jonathan's house, but not before we added another animal to the chaos. That is right we got a puppy, her name is Juno she is a lab mix that we adopted from The Humane Society. We have decided she is very cute, and A LOT of work. Lauren didn't know how easy her life was until she added a puppy to the mix :) Odin seems to be handling the puppy okay, though we think he thought she was just a visitor now that he is seeing she is here to stay he is a little less sure of how he feels. Here is just a random group of pictures some of Savannah and some of Juno and Odin.

Family Loss

We lost a loved one recently. Lauren's Grandfather passed away on February 18th. He was 88 and it seems his body decided it was his time to go. While we are so sad to have lost him, we all take comfort in the fact that he was a man of strong faith and was confident in where he would be going when this life was over. Lauren has been going over all the wonderful memories she had of her grandfather, one that really sticks out is ice cream and cookies. He loved his sweets and loved to have them after dinner. She loved all the ducks that decorated the house especially the big stuffed goose that she would ride around the living room on for hours. Lucky enough, Savannah even got her turn to ride that very same goose while Grandpa sat by smiling. But the thing that she will miss the most is his laugh, it was loud and authentic, just the way a Grandpa should laugh. He is survived by his wife who we refer to as Nanny, his five sons, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He will be truly missed but he will live on in our hearts and memories.

Sew Cool!!!

Well as some of you may know I got a sewing machine for Christmas and was able (with A LOT of help from my mom) to make a dress for Savannah. So here she is modeling it for all of you to enjoy. It is a little big now but I think by September it will fit like a glove. Can't wait to make more, Lauren Ferris Childrens Collection coming soon!

We also have been experiencing Montana cold like never before. Savannah and I got in the car today to find it was -3 outside. All I have to say is it hurts to breath. So Savannah pulled out her sprinkler matt and we put on her shorts and dreamed of sunnier days (see picture).

I am also adding some cool pictures of the snow sliding off our roof. Usually it just comes right down after a heavy snow but because it has been so cold it has been slowly drifting. I am really hoping I am never under it when it goes. Ouch and burr are what come to mind.

Merry Christmas!!!

Another Christmas came and went. Savannah had a great time, she finally understood opening presents and loved it! She had a great time with all the new toys to play with, and she absolutely loved playing Santa and passing gifts out. Unfortunately we didn't have a white Christmas, most of the snow melted by the time the 25th came. Oh well, maybe next year we will have more luck. This holiday came without too much chaos and we sure were grateful for that, we spent a lovely Christmas at home, the first in a long time. We missed seeing all of our family though. We hope everyone else had a great holiday, here are some pictures of Savannah passing out gifts, playing with her new tea party set, and showing off her new coat. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!!!

Happpy Halloween to you all! We had a very exciting Halloween, while Savannah could not partake in the candy portion of the day she did enjoy dressing up as a Ladybug for the event. She was a mighty cranky little bug as she has her first tooth coming in (yes we know it is a little late) . The good news is hopefully by next year she will be able to enjoy one or two sweet treats. We didn't go trick or treating but we, ran tons of errands around town and got plenty of ooohs and aaawes over her costume. John and I enjoyed a first this year as well, we had trick or treaters!! Never before has a single person come by our house on Halloween night. The down side is we are watching Jonathan's two dogs and let me tell you when the door bells rings every dog in the house went crazy. But it was well worth it to not have a huge bowl of candy left over. We hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween. Enjoy the pics of Savannah in her costume.

Goodbye Summer Hello Fall

Here in Missoula it is summer one day and fall the next. The tempature has been mid 50's to the high 40's, and that started in the middle of September. Other than the weather not many changes to speak of. We have settled into the house, we still have boxes to unpack but I think by the time Savannah is 3 I will have the time to do it. Still no news on Odin we are still in the wait and see holding pattern, but he is not getting any worse, which is good news. We will let you all know as soon as there are any changes. I am posting some pictures of Savannah in her winter sweater and matching hat. Yes there are days when it is that cold, also adding the fact that she still doesn't have a lot of hair to speak of. Too cute! Thank you Nana. I am also adding some pictures I took of the neighbors yard the other day. When you all wonder why we moved out here it is because all we have to do is look out our front window and there are two beautiful deer across the street. Now I know what you are thinking not cool to let the deer eat our neighbors flowers, but I have seen that image of that hunter getting attacked by that deer too many times to brave it out there alone :)
