Big Boy Potty

Jordan (2 1/2 yrs old) has been having some fun on the potty lately. He has peed once and pooped once. These were both on separate occasions and pretty spaced out, but its a start!

Here he is showing his best bud Lion how to use the potty. He is reading him a book while he sits, just like I do for him :)

Flushing the toilet. Watch out Lion, don't get flushed down the drain!
Way to go Jordan!

"Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Mothering Boys"

I found this through a friend. Its from the Yahoo Shine web page.

Parenting Guru: 10 Reasons why I love mothering boys

Obviously I love my sons, they are super awesome people I’m proud to know. Mothering boys in general is an amazing adventure for which I have so much to be thankful for.

Letterman style, here are my Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Mothering Boys:

10.  The dirt. I am a reformed neat freak, so reformed I’m downright messy anymore. Having boys has taught me there’s way more to life than a pristine house and the frustration that comes with it. It’s all about living.

9.  Roadtrip bathroom breaks. Not such a big deal with boys for obvious anatomical reasons.

8.  Being the queen. I dig the whole mama’s boy thing. They always tell me I’m beautiful, assume it’s my birthday whenever I wear a dress and adore me in a way that’s downright addictive. I wish I could bottle all that up for all of eternity, I really do.

7.  Not having to do their hair in the morning. Oh lawd, the fights my mom and I used to have in the mornings over my hair. My boys get a quicky finger-comb through if they’re lucky.

6.  They don’t care about their clothes (yet).  I realize at some point their clothes will become an issue but right now they’d be satisfied in a potato sack, so long as I cut the tag out of course.

5.  The opportunity to stretch myself. My boys love the outdoors and I, well, how do I say this…don’t.  I’m slowly coming around though and I kinda like it.

4.  The volume. I love the sound of boisterous laughter and joy. My sons are hilarious, totally loud and bursting with life.

3.  The opportunity to raise well-rounded men. May my boys grow to learn their way around a stove and a washing machine.

2.  Roughhousing. Sure, it’s all fun and games until someone loses and eye but until someone loses an eye, it’s all fun and games.

1.  The brotherhood. It’s a sappy, sappy thing to see my boys love/hate/love each other the way they do.  It makes me so proud to have given each one of them a friend for life and fills me with all sorts of yummy goodness.

"You are Special to the World"

Kevin and I were talking about what he could share on his sharing day in first grade. Not a toy. A thing or a story. Something special.

Mom: "What is something special to you?"

Kevin: "I could share you, you are special to me! You are special to the world"

Seriously?! How sweet is he?! I sure love my Kevin :)

Kevin's 7th Birthday

It was a Lego themed birthday for Kevin this year. 7 years old! We had a family party on his actual big day (April 28th) and he invited 5 friends over for a party on Saturday. There were seven boys total and Jeremy and I, at our home. It turned out great. I'm glad we did it at home and not at some play center.

His first Atlantis Lego kit. Ashton was pretty excited too :)

Pizza time!

Jeremy designed a small Lego ship, then we broke it up and put one piece in each balloon. The boys were separated into two teams. They had to pop the balloons to get all the pieces then build the design. The team that finished first won!

Jordan enjoyed the cheese balls, as you can see...

My sweet boys! My favorite picture from the day!

Party favors for the boys. Those are eatable Lego guys.

How many Lego's in the jar?

Build your own Lego guy.

Lego head cake pops

A closer look at the goody bags.

Lego brick candy

Kevin's family birthday party.

Kevin bought this $104 Lego kit with his birthday money.

He built all 933 pieces in just a few hours.

Happy Birthdays in the lunch box.

"You are Special Today" (aka: The Red Plate) for the special boy.

Kevin filled out a special poster all about himself that he shared with his first grade class.

The next day Kevin's friend said "That was the best birthday party ever'!"

It's been awhile!

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted! I had to get one in before the new year...which is only 10 min away! I have been busy with some other things and haven't taken the time, but plan to soon! I really want to keep up on my virtual scrapbook which I hope to print someday. I am behind since summer and want to post everything in order, so you might see some summer time photo's in the coming month along with Christmas.

Happy New Year!
