    Oh to be young and curious again. I think it's narrative is a bit too complex and lacking in grounded answers to match the playful, childlike tone and animation style it uses, but regardless it is a very enjoyable fantastical coming-of-age story that reminds me just how crazy going through puberty could be.

    I don't want to have to admit it, but Ridley is coasting now. I still enjoyed this quite a bit. The truth is, though, that I almost always will be locked in for any sword and sandal type shit. This sequel lacks any singular thing that is great and is unfortunately weighed down from the expectations set by its masterful original.     When everything is a joke, is anything actually funny? The first half is overly ridiculous and toothless even for Waititi. The CGI is often awful. The second half makes actual attempts at emotion, but it feels soooooo forced at this point and barely works. Luckily a terrifying Christian Bale as Gorr is at least something worth paying attention to for the performance even if they completely waste a badass villain concept by rushing through it. I LOVE where it ended…
