Problem: CarPlay prioritizes vehicle GPS antenna, even when the vehicle GPS signal is clearly broken ( jumping 500 feet every 5 seconds when navigating in the city, making ANY navigation completely impossible ) Detaching the antenna from car receiver disallows CarPlay connection from phone to car Expected behavior: Users expect one of two options: A: Fallback to iPhone GPS signal when it is evident that vehicle GPS receiver / antenna is broken (less preferred) B: Allow user to choose to prioritize phone GPS signal, if user knows that vehicle GPS creates poor user experience (Best and easiest solution, lowest dev cost) Reproduction Hardware: Sony XAV-AX6000 CarPlay receiver + downtown city navigation with tall buildings (Seattle Downtown) I am very curious why not allow for iPhone to be selected as the default GPS source. One of my vehicles has a completely broken GPS antenna, and yet I am forced to use it if I am to use CarPlay. It looks amazing when the vehicle GPS is bouncing around unable to get a solid signal, but when I disconnect from CarPlay to navigate straight from my phone, everything works perfectly.
