What!?

We were at the dollar store letting the boys each pick out a toy. Tyler proudly put his new toy on the conveyor belt so the lady could ring it in. After everything had been tallied, she told me what the total of the purchase was. Tyler looked at her and said very loudly, "What!? I have no money!" Needless to say, everyone in line behind me & the cashier started laughing & thought he was so cute. What a clown!

Hiking to the Cross

For Family Home Evening this past Monday we hiked up to the cross that is at the mouth of Spanish Fork canyon where the first white (& coincidentally spanish) explorers entered the Utah Valley. They were two catholic priests, Father Dominguez & Father Escalante, hence the reason for the cross & how Spanish Fork got its name.

In all my years of living in Utah, and more recently Spanish Fork, I have never hiked up to the cross (I didn't really know you could). We hiked it as a youth group a couple weeks ago & I thought it would be something my family would enjoy, which we did. It was a beautiful hike & when we got there I gave a short lesson about our Savior & how he died for us on the cross.

All in all, it was a great evening for everyone that was there!

We can see the cross from our house & our house from the cross. Can you find it?

What a gorgeous way to finish off our wonderful evening!

Y oh Y

This past Saturday we decided to hike up to the “Y”.  I remember doing it as a teenager & Eric had never done it, so we gathered the troops & headed out on an adventure.

I remember thinking the hike was steep & treacherous as a teenager, but thought that I had been much more out of shape then & it wouldn’t be too bad now.  However, much to my surprise, it was still steep & treacherous the entire time!  Tyler was being super slow & looking at every rock & plant so I ended up carrying him in a backpack on my back the entire way.  It was a leg burner, that’s for sure!

But in the end we all made it (barely), with only a few tears & whining along the way.  Going back was a welcome relief to our tired legs.  We’re glad we did it, but I don’t think the boys will be asking to go back there anytime soon.  However, every time we have seen the “Y” since then, the boys point it out & with pride talk about how they hiked up to the top.

Ty Guy

Tyler
Age: 2 & 3/4

Nicknames:
Ty-Ty, One Man Wrecking Crew, Mr. Destructo, Dennis the Menace, Guy Smiley

Tyler's Motto For Life:
Full Speed Ahead
Charge!
Are You Going to Finish That?
Don't Worry, Be Happy
Smile!
I Funny (he actually says this one a lot)
I'm a Big Kid Now
Grab Life by the Horns
Sing, Sing, Sing...I Love to Sing

He Loves:
His family, but especially his brothers
Hats
Nice, long naps
Nursery
People
Hiking & Adventures
Singing
Life
Making people smile & laugh
Chocolate
This picture of him sleeping in the Jeep is rare indeed. Although Tyler loves to take good, long naps, he will only sleep in his bed and nowhere else. If there is something going on he wants to be part of the action so he will not go to sleep, no matter how tired he is. However, this was on our trip to the San Rafael Swell this spring & apparently we tired him out enough that he actually fell asleep in his car seat. It was a true miracle as this has probably only happened a handful of times since he was a newborn.
It's not all fun and games at our house. We have plenty of this going on...after all, Tyler is two & it kind of comes with the territory. We captured this one for posterity's sake.

Happy Ten Years!

As of May 26th, Eric & I have officially been married for 10 years! Where does the time go? It doesn't seem possible that I've been married that long, yet I can't remember what life was like before being married & having a family.

I am so grateful for my sweetheart & the good man that he is. He is so amazing & I am truly blessed to be married to him.

We chose to celebrate our ten year annivesary the way we started our relationship...hiking. We got engaged on a hike at Angel's Landing in Zion's National Park so we figured it was appropriate that we celebrate ten wonderful years of marriage on the trail, too. My mom & dad took the kids overnight & we headed to Capitol Reef National Park. It was so nice to only have to set up a camp for two. I'm so used to taking everything from the house, including the kitchen sink that I thought, "I could get used to camping like this." We went out for dinner at a fabulous burger joint in Torrey, Utah & then found a campsite fit for two. The next morning we were up by 7:00 & had eaten breakfast, gotten ready, taken down camp & were on the road by 8:00. We were on the trail by 8:30 & had a wonderful time hiking a gorgeous slot canyon (7 1/2 miles to be exact). It was a wonderful day to celebrate & remember all of the great memories we've made...with lots more to come!

Green Thumb

I was out working on the garden, digging with the shovel & wearing my gardening gloves when Tyler came outside & watched what I was doing.  Before long, he decided that he wanted his own pair of gloves to wear & he needed his own tool so he could help me.

He knew exactly which gloves he wanted to wear & took me right to the box of winter gloves & hats & picked out a pair of camo snow gloves.  I helped him put them on & he grabbed his plastic rake & dug in.

He had tons of fun working in the garden & now all that’s left is to enjoy the “fruits” of our labor. :)

30 Cents

Do you want to know what I got for 30 cents? Everything pictured below!

KMart was doing double coupons a couple weeks ago, plus there was a $5 rebate on Windex cleaner, so by the time I got my rebate back & all was said and done I got everything in the picture for a mere 30 cents! Not too bad for a days work!
